Abed laid in his bed, the time quickly ticking by. Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock… it had already been around 5 hours since he'd gotten in bed and he was not happy about losing this much sleep. Even if it wasn't the first time.
Usually he would do something tiring like jumping jacks, but then the people in the rooms next to his started to complain about the noise.
He stared up at the ceiling, finding shapes in the popcorn style room above him. He had considered getting up to get a melatonin gummy or something of the sort but he knew if he was so close to falling asleep.
Abed turned over and stared at his phone. It was sitting on the table across the room so he thought there was no point in grabbing it to try to text someone, he doubted anyone else would be up at this time anyway.
Tick, tock, tick, tock, tick, tock… his brain rattled off. The real clock was a digital one, it was easier to see in the dark. Tick, tock, tick, to- the phone buzzed, subtly moving across the table from the vibrations.
Abed pulled the Spider-Man blanket off of himself and turned to get out of bed. He reached to grab the phone and looked at the screen, it was Troy. Abed hated phone calls normally, he hated the expectation of an immediate response, but Troy was fine, he understood. Abed answered the call. “Troy?”
“Hey Abed,” his voice was groggy but not in the just-woke-up way. “Sorry for… calling so late, I can't sleep.”
“That's okay, me neither” Abed responded, walking back to his bed, still holding the phone.
“Hey… uh… is it okay if I come over?” Troy asked. Abed nodded before taking a second to remember Troy wasn't actually there and couldn't see him.
“Abed-?”
“Sure. Cool. Cool, cool, cool.” He answered.
“Alright, I'll be there in a few minutes.” Troy's voice sounded a bit less tired. “Love you.” He said before hanging up the phone.
Abed smiled a bit and sat on his bed cross legged, waiting for Troy to arrive. There was nothing else to do really and it was really the next major plot point.
A few minutes went by before the doorbell caught Abeds attention. He had zoned out and had no idea how much time passed so he glanced over at the clock, only around 10 minutes. 10 minutes that could have been spent sleeping. He figured it was at least some sort of rest.
He got up and headed to the entrance of his apartment. The door to his room made a high pitched creak. He'd always found that opening doors quicker lessened the loud squeak so he never quite understood why people in the shows and movies he watched always opened them so slowly, it really only made the sound last longer. He let Troy in.
“Hi Troy.” He said.
“Hey Abed,” Troy smiled at him before coming inside.
“Do you wanna watch Inspector Spacetime?” Troy asked immediately when he walked in. Abed nodded and walked over to the living room.
The two sat on the couch together with a blanket draped over them. Troy was cuddling up to Abed while he was setting up an episode of Inspector Spacetime. Once the show was ready, Abed laid the remote down on the arm of the couch and brought his legs up to rest on the couch.
Troy cuddled in a little closer, leaning on Abed and pulling the blanket up to properly cover the two of them. Abeds eyes remained fixed on the TV and he wrapped an arm around Troy. He mouthed the lines along with the characters. It was an episode they'd both seen before, one of Abeds favourites so he'd watched it quite a few times.
After a few minutes, he began explaining tidbits about the shows creation and the events of making certain scenes. Troy slowly fell asleep. Abed took a few minutes to notice after he was already out and it was only because he looked over. He tilted his head at Troy and stopped talking. He lightly stroked his head with his thumb. He laid down a bit more on the couch aswell, carefully adjusting himself as to not wake up the man sleeping next to him. He continued to stare at the show, slowly drifting off to sleep.
