I don’t usually write separate author’s notes, but given the subject matter of this series, I felt compelled to do so.
Ancient Builders: Nightmare’s Bazaar contains abuse and violence of all kinds, including sexual. These topics are treated through the lens of grimdark aestheticism and reality takes a back seat. Suffering is romanticized. Bad people will not get their comeuppance. It is more than understandable if this work is not for You.
This series seeks to explore the intersection of two fantasies: trauma and eroticism. In a sense, it is a magical land where violence can meet both gentleness and beauty, those latter two laid over the cold truth of reality at the behest of the author. There is buildup and there is release, though what emotion you channel that into is entirely up to You.
