Work Text:
For the last six weeks, Eddie’s looked forward to Wednesdays more than any other day of the week.
Because on Wednesday afternoons, Eddie gets home from work, takes a shower, has a nap, takes another shower, gets a little dressed up in his nicest jeans and his most well-fitting shirt, and then waits for Buck to knock on their front door. It's a silly routine—considering they've been cohabitating since he and Chris had come back from Texas—but Eddie doesn't care.
Every time Buck knocks on their front door, Eddie waits precisely four seconds before swinging the door wide open and meeting Buck’s grin with one of his own. They always exchange their usual greetings, and then he follows Buck to his car where he hops into the passenger seat, quietly humming along to whatever Buck has playing on his Spotify until they arrive at their destination.
The destination in question being their local bar where they’ve been going to Trivia Night with Maddie and Josh. And Eddie’s been enjoying it, even if Josh drives him insane half the time; because it’s worth it to see how happy it makes Buck, and how relaxed Maddie looks.
So yeah, Eddie’s been having a great time. And he’d been hoping they’d get to keep having a great time the way they had been. But unfortunately that’s not what happens.
Because tonight, when Buck knocks on Eddie’s front door and Eddie swings it open ready to meet Buck’s grin, Buck isn’t looking at him.
Eddie’s face drops, but he quickly pulls himself together.
“Something wrong?” he asks, trying to see what Buck’s looking at on his phone.
Buck shakes his head with a distracted smile on his face. “Nah, it’s just Eduardo.”
Ed-fucking-who?
“Eduardo?” Eddie asks out loud, keeping his voice even. “Who’s Eduardo?”
Buck turns towards him. “My date.”
“You’re bringing a date to trivia night?” Eddie asks, trying not to give away his irrational disappointment. “You didn’t mention a date.”
It kind of explains why Buck hadn't gotten ready at the house with him earlier, but Eddie hadn't thought anything of it at the time. He'd just assumed Buck had gone to the store or something.
“It was kind of a last minute thing,” Buck says distractedly, tapping at his phone. “His plans for tonight were cancelled so I invited him along.”
Is it too late to uninvite him?
“Okay,” Eddie says instead. “Is he meeting us there?”
“What? No, he’s in the car,” Buck responds, finally taking his eyes off of his phone to look at his watch. “We should probably get going actually, or we’re gonna be late.”
No thanks to Eduardo, Eddie’s sure.
“Right, well,” Eddie makes it all of two steps onto his driveway before he realises this Eduardo guy is sitting in the passenger seat of Buck’s car. “Uh, is he gonna move?”
“Real funny,” Buck says, shaking his head in amusement. “Hurry up and hop in the back.”
Apparently he thinks Eddie’s joking.
But he’s really not.
And look, Eddie’s not entirely sure what’s happening right now. But for whatever reason, he has an overwhelming urge to drag Eduardo out of his seat, uninvite him from trivia night, and suggest he go back to whatever dating app he came from immediately.
Instead, Eddie uses up a significant chunk of his self-restraint and forces himself to be normal.
He walks around to the driver’s side of the car—because there’s no way in hell he’s sitting behind this Eduardo guy—and settles himself into the seat behind Buck.
“Hey man, I’m Eduardo,” Eduardo says, turning around to offer Eddie a hand to shake. “Nice to meet you.”
Eddie stares at the hand for a moment—considers slapping it away, but refrains—before being polite. He shakes Eduardo’s hand, firmly and maybe a little tighter than necessary.
“Eddie,” Eddie says, pulling his hand away as soon as he can and wiping it on his pants.
Eduardo raises an eyebrow at him, and Eddie glares in response.
Who does this guy think he is?
*
Somehow, they manage to make it the rest of the drive without Eddie strangling Eduardo with a seatbelt. Admittedly, he comes close once or twice.
Eddie dives out of the car before the car fully comes to a stop, immediately heading into the bar and looking around for the rest of their group. It doesn’t take him long to spot Josh, but Maddie's nowhere in sight.
Eddie heads for the bar, because while Josh is a slight upgrade from Eduardo, he’s still not that desperate.
Eddie orders himself a beer, deliberately not ordering one for Buck in a ridiculous attempt at defiance. Buck can wait for Eduardo to buy him a beer if he wants one badly enough.
He drinks his beer at the bar for a few minutes before he finally spots Maddie as she enters the bar. Only his face drops when he sees Chim behind her.
He’s not unhappy to see Chim; that’s not the problem. The problem is that this is starting to look like more of a triple date now that it’s going to be two couples and him and Josh. Eddie wonders if it’s too late to claim he has food poisoning.
*
Eventually, he does make his way over towards the table Josh has commandeered for them and slides in next to him.
“Josh,” Eddie says, nodding at him.
“Eddie,” Josh responds, nodding back.
Eddie studiously ignores him now that he’s exchanged the necessary pleasantries.
“So, where’s your other half?” Josh asks, looking around dramatically. “I saw you come in alone.”
Eddie huffs. “He’s outside with his date.”
Josh looks entirely too giddy at that, and Eddie takes another sip of his beer to avoid saying anything he’ll regret. It’s something he fears he’ll be doing a lot this evening.
“Buck brought a date tonight?” Josh asks, even though he obviously knows the answer. “And how are we feeling about that?”
It’s clear that by ‘we’ Josh means him, but Eddie’s not going to play along that easily.
“I don’t know, how are you feeling about it?”
“Amused, to be honest,” Josh replies, said amusement showing on his face vividly. “You don’t like the guy?”
“How do you know it’s a guy?” Eddie asks, forgetting momentarily that he was trying not to engage. “Buck’s bisexual. It could be a woman.”
Josh laughs, his head tipping back against the seat behind them.
“Oh, it’s a man,” Josh says confidently, still chuckling. “You wouldn’t be like this”—Josh gestures at Eddie’s everything—“if it were a woman.”
Eddie’s not entirely sure what Josh is getting at.
“You’re not making any sense,” he points out, refusing to make eye contact. “Why don’t you make yourself useful and go get our sign up stuff.”
“Already got it.”
Josh waves the mostly filled out paperwork in the air, and Eddie rolls his eyes. He doesn’t get a chance to respond though, because at that precise moment in time, Buck and Eduardo start making their way over to their table with Maddie and Chim trailing in behind them.
“Oh, wow,” Eddie hears Josh mutter, turning just in time to see a delighted grin overtake Josh’s entire face. “This has to be killing you.”
“What the hell are you on about?”
“Really?” Josh asks. “It’s kind of obvious.”
Eddie frowns because it can’t be that obvious if he still has no idea what his demonic ex-coworker is talking about.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” he says out loud.
Josh laughs, leaning over to speak directly into Eddie’s ear so that nobody else will be able to overhear.
“The love of your life just walked in here with a reject version of yourself,” Josh informs him, leaving Eddie rather stunned. “I mean, that’s pretty funny, right?”
It’s absolutely not funny at all, actually.
Because Eddie’s not in love with Buck. He can’t be. If he were in love with Buck, he would have realised it before now. Right?
Eddie flounders, trying not to visibly show signs of his internal crisis.
Luckily—or unluckily, depending on how you look at it—Maddie, Chimney, Buck and Eduardo arrive at the table and introductions begin again.
“Hey Josh,” Buck says cheerfully, offering a wave across the table. “Hope it’s okay, but I brought a date tonight. This is Eduardo.”
Eddie finds it mildly satisfying that Josh chokes on his drink in response to the introduction.
“Eduardo,” Josh repeats after clearing his throat. “Really?”
Buck nods, and Eddie watches as Eduardo extends a hand for Josh to shake. Josh also appears to have a rather excessively tight grip which makes Eddie feel a little better about earlier.
What doesn’t make Eddie feel better is that Josh waits for Buck and Eduardo to start conversing with Maddie and Chim again before turning towards him again.
“So, his name is Eduardo?” Josh does something weird with his eyes that Eddie can’t decipher. “Are we sure Buck isn’t paying this guy to prank us?”
“Buck doesn’t need to pay anyone to date him,” Eddie responds. “Have you seen him?”
“Obviously, lover boy.”
“Stop that,” Eddie insists. “I’m not in love with Buck.”
“Sure.”
“Maybe you’re in love with Buck,” Eddie throws back when he doesn’t get the response he wants. “Ever thought about that?”
“I can confidently say never,” Josh says, indeed confidently. “Can you say the same?”
Eddie gapes at him.
That’s cheating.
Of course he has, because Josh literally just brought it up less than five minutes ago.
“You’re a real piece of work, you—”
“Hey Eds,” Buck calls out, and Eddie’s mouth snaps shut immediately in response. “Can we have the sign up stuff? Eduardo’s gonna run it up to the bar.”
Eddie hopes he trips.
“Sure,” he says, handing everything over. “If there’s any mistakes you can blame Josh.”
Eddie smirks at Josh as Buck takes the paperwork and heads to the other side of the booth to check everything over with Maddie.
“Fuck you, Diaz,” Josh says, as soon as Buck’s out of earshot.
Eddie rolls his eyes. “Oh, I bet you wish you could—”
“Wow, you guys have a lot of sexual tension, huh?” Eduardo’s joking voice interrupts their bickering, and both Eddie and Josh look at him in horror. “Or not?”
Eddie didn’t think it was possible, but this guy keeps getting worse somehow.
“Dumbass,” Josh mutters under his breath, just loud enough for Eddie to hear him.
Eddie nods his head in agreement, reaching out for his beer.
Before he presses the bottle to his lips, he mutters back, “Totally.”
Nothing unites people like a common enemy, after all.
*
Eddie thinks he does a pretty good job ignoring Josh’s previous statement about him being in love with Buck in the thirty minutes that follows. If he doesn’t think about it, then he doesn’t have to deal with it. It seems to be working so far.
They’ve also made it through two rounds of trivia without Eddie actively clawing Eduardo’s face, so that’s also an achievement. The temptation has been there, of course, thanks to the way Eduardo seems to commandeer Buck’s attention.
Eddie keeps his face carefully blank as he watches Eduardo show Buck something on his phone. Probably a picture. Eddie hates him. Showing Buck pictures is his thing.
“You’re looking a little green,” Josh whispers into his ear. “Might wanna rein that in if you don’t want anyone noticing.”
Eddie huffs. “I feel fine.”
Maybe a little queasy, but that’s probably from the cheesy-fries they ordered.
“You’re jealous.” Josh’s sing-song tone makes Eddie want to strangle him. “Ready to admit it yet?”
“That I hate you?” Eddie snarks back. “Sure. Thought it was pretty obvious though.”
“That’s not all that’s obvious.”
Eddie takes a deep breath.
“I’m not in love with Buck,” he hisses back, eyes darting around to make sure nobody else at the table overheard him. “He’s my best friend.”
“You know you can be in love with him and he can still be your best friend, right?”
Eddie freezes.
No, that’s not—
“Don’t be stupid,” Eddie says, instead of continuing his train of thought. “Maybe you’re projecting. Are you in love with your best friend? Is that what this is?”
“Ooh, good one,” Josh responds, poking Eddie’s beer and sliding it just out of reach. “But no.”
Eddie doesn’t bother responding, leaning forward out of his seat to get his beer back instead, glaring at Josh the entire time.
*
They move onto a new round pretty quickly after that, and unfortunately this one isn’t Eddie’s forte. The category in question? Australia.
“Don’t worry guys,” Eduardo says, grinning at everyone. “I’ve got us covered.”
“Eduardo loves Australia,” Buck informs them all, giving all his attention to his date. “What did you say was your favourite place to visit?”
Eddie tunes them out.
He couldn’t give less of a fuck about Eduardo’s interests.
Luckily, the host starts reading out questions and derails the conversation, and Eduardo returns to his prior obnoxious state of rattling off answers again.
“One of Australia’s Prime Ministers was lost at sea after going for a swim in the ocean,” the host calls out. “What did the country do in his honour?”
“They named a swimming pool after him,” Eduardo announces proudly, and Eddie rolls his eyes.
“That can’t be right,” he says out loud, accidentally. All eyes snap to him. “That’s absurd. Who would do that?”
“I think that’s actually right,” Buck says. “I remember reading it somewhere once.”
Et tu, Brute?
“Whatever,” Eddie mumbles, yet again sipping his beer to avoid further interaction with his doppelganger. He ignores the irony.
Josh snorts, and Eddie digs his elbow into Josh’s side a little harder than he means to.
“Ow!” Josh exclaims, drawing the rest of their table’s attention towards them again. “Sorry, ignore me.”
Luckily, the host reads out another question.
“In the great Emu War that occurred in 1932, Australia went to war against the emus. Which side came out on top: the humans or the emus?”
“This is ridiculous,” Josh says. “It’s obviously the people.”
“Agreed,” Eddie finds himself saying. “Kinda obvious.”
“It was actually the emus,” Eduardo announces gleefully, somehow not withering under the mutual glares Eddie and Josh throw in his direction. “Crazy, right?”
What’s crazy is how much Eddie hates this guy.
Buck backs Eduardo, because of course he does, which only makes Eddie’s glare worse.
“Are there more humans or kangaroos in Australia?” the host’s voice calls out, and Eddie straightens up in his seat.
He knows this one.
But before he has a chance to say anything, Eduardo beats him to it.
“It’s kangaroos!”
Needless to say—after the third question in a row being answered by an enthusiastic know-it-all Eduardo—Eddie’s seething.
Normally, they’d have fun debating the answers and voting on which one to write down, but not tonight. Not when Eduardo is apparently Jim Murray in disguise.
“Someone should tell Jim Murray over there to calm down,” Josh mumbles to Eddie, who hates that they unknowingly shared a thought. “I knew that last one.”
“What does Buck even see in this guy?” Eddie grumbles back. “He’s annoying.”
“Can’t argue with you there.”
Eduardo proceeds to answer the next few questions as well despite their complaints.
“What number do Australians call when they need emergency services?”
“Triple zero,” Eduardo exclaims. “Isn’t that wild?”
Not really.
“This train station in the city of Melbourne shares a name with which DC superhero?”
“Batman, of course,” Eduardo says excitedly. “He’s my favourite, you know?”
Eddie doesn’t care.
“What is the most popular name Australians use to refer to the ibis bird?”
“You’re not gonna believe this one.” Eduardo laughs. “They call them bin chickens!”
That has to be made up.
There’s no way.
By the end of the Australia section, Eddie’s starting to wonder whether Eduardo is actually from Australia or something.
Jesus christ.
Eduardo offers to run their answer sheet up to the bar yet again, despite Maddie pointing out that they usually take turns. Maybe he’s behind on his steps for the day or something?
“You okay, Eddie?” Maddie’s voice interrupts his thoughts, and Eddie quickly chucks a smile on his face.
“Totally,” Eddie says, ignoring Josh’s snort. “Do I not seem fine?”
“Not really,” Buck interjects. “You’ve been kind of off the entire night.”
“Surprised you noticed,” Eddie mutters, apparently loud enough for Maddie and Chim to hear if their raised eyebrows are anything to go off of.
“Huh?” Buck asks, brows furrowing. “What do you mean?”
“Don’t worry about it,” Eddie responds, straightening in his seat when he sees Eduardo’s almost back to the table. “Your boyfriend’s nearly back.”
“He’s not my—”
“They were out of that beer you wanted, but I got you a margarita,” Eduardo says, handing Buck the drink and taking his seat again. “Hope you like it.”
Buck hates margaritas.
“Yeah, I love them,” Buck says, taking a sip and wincing slightly. “Thanks.”
Liar.
Eddie hopes he has to drink the whole thing.
“He hates margaritas, doesn’t he?” Josh asks.
Eddie nods. “Says they taste like ass.”
“Maybe he likes that now,” Josh says, waggling his eyebrows. “If you catch my—”
“I caught it,” Eddie says, absolutely not thinking about Buck anywhere near his ass. “You’re not subtle.”
“I wasn’t trying to be.”
Ugh.
*
They make it through the next round—Eduardo continuing to answer all the questions—in what feels like record time. Eddie’s genuinely relieved when they take a break for dinner.
“We’re gonna go get some more food,” Maddie announces, sliding out of the booth with Chim following. “Anybody want anything?”
“We’ll join you,” Eduardo says, attempting to tug Buck out of the booth too. “I could go for some more cheesy-fries. Extra cheese this time, what do you reckon?”
Looks like somebody’s not lactose intolerant; no need to rub it in.
“You want some more cheesy-fries, Eddie?” Buck calls out, and Eddie looks up to see Buck looking directly at him. “Or something else?”
“Uh, maybe some nachos?” Eddie looks at Josh. “You want anything?”
He misses the slight change in Buck’s expression.
“We could share the nachos?” Josh asks, and Eddie gives him a what-the-fuck look. “Extra guac?”
“Sure,” Eddie says slowly, turning back to see a strange look on Buck’s face. “Nachos. Extra guac apparently. Thanks.”
“No problem,” Buck responds, a little stilted. “We’ll be right back, I guess. Unless you wanna come with us?”
The question is clearly being directed to Eddie only, which he finds odd.
“I’m good,” he says, reaching for his beer and finding it almost empty. “Can you grab me another beer too?”
“Course.” Buck turns to follow Eduardo at that, and Eddie rounds on Josh the moment they’re out of earshot.
“What are you doing?” he asks, shifting in his seat so he can face Josh. “I know you’re up to something.”
“Maybe I am,” Josh says, shrugging his shoulders. “Maybe I’m not.”
“Josh…” Eddie groans. “Can you just—”
“Look, he’s in love with you too, okay?”
Eddie’s mouth snaps shut.
That’s impossible.
Buck can’t be in love with him.
Buck’s here with Eduardo of all people, he doesn’t want Eddie.
“You’re wrong,” Eddie says. “If Buck was in love with me, he would have said something when I came out to him or any time in the last six months since Chris and I got back from Texas. But he’s never even hinted at it.”
“Or maybe he’s scared you don’t feel the same way about him as he does about you?” Josh points out, voice softer than Eddie expects. “And look, I know we’ve got this whole frenemy thing going on”—Eddie wrinkles his nose at the word ‘frenemy’—“but I had to say something because I think you both deserve to be happy. He’s wasting his time with this Eduardo guy who looks like your doppelganger, and I think we both know that never works out well for anyone.”
Eddie’s jaw drops. “Dude.”
“Too soon?”
“How do you even know about that?”
“Doesn’t matter,” Josh insists; and Eddie disagrees but doesn’t press the issue. “Will you please just tell him how you feel before it’s too late?”
Eddie closes his eyes, finally allowing himself to acknowledge the fact that yeah, okay, maybe he has feelings for Buck.
Damn it.
He’s in love with Buck, which is so much worse.
He wonders how long he’s felt this way, because looking back he can’t pinpoint an exact moment where things started to change. Maybe it’s always been there? Somewhere deep down inside him, an ember slowly sparking to life over the duration of his and Buck’s friendship, finally bursting into flame and—
“You’re gonna thank me for this one day.”
Eddie has less than half a second to attempt to process Josh’s befuddling words before he finds himself being pulled into one of the most awkward kisses of his life.
The kiss itself is fine—it’s whatever—but it would definitely benefit from a lack of Josh being involved.
“What the fuck?” Eddie attempts to mumble against Josh’s lips.
Josh pinches his arm. “Just go with it. Trust me.”
For some weird reason—unexplainable even to himself—Eddie doesn’t pull away immediately.
“If I say I’m in love with Buck, can we stop kissing?” Eddie mumbles yet again, still attached to Josh’s face. It’s not even a kiss anymore, they’re just touching lips at this point. “This is really weird.”
Josh doesn’t respond, but Eddie watches the way his eyes appear to be searching for something off to the side. Just as he goes to follow Josh’s line of sight himself, Josh closes his eyes and kisses him again.
Eddie’s not gonna lie, he’s really confused at this point.
But a kiss is a kiss—and realises he does kinda trust Josh—so he closes his eyes and kisses him back. It’s not horrible, he supposes. He’s pretty sure he’d have more fun kissing Buck, that’s for sure, but Buck’s with Eduardo and not him. Not to mention—
“What the fuck?”
Buck’s voice makes him jump, and Eddie tears himself away from Josh as fast as possible. He flounders, scrambling for some kind of explanation, but he doesn’t even have one himself. He looks to Josh for help.
“Problem, Buckley?” Josh asks, sounding rather nonchalant. “I thought you were at the bar with your date?”
“Who?” Buck says, barely paying attention.
Josh snorts, and Eddie’s starting to think maybe Josh has been right the entire time.
“Why do you even care who I’m kissing?” Eddie asks, crossing his arms over his chest. “You’ve got Eduardo now, apparently.”
“I don’t—”
“Maybe you should go find him,” Eddie suggests, ignoring the way his stomach twists in response to his own words. “He’s the only person you seem to want to pay any attention to tonight.”
“Eddie…” Josh warns, but Eddie doesn’t care.
Because you know what? Yeah, he’s hurt. It doesn’t feel great that Buck bought some guy who looks exactly like him on a date. And if he’s honest, he kind of doesn’t even want to be here anymore. He wants to go home and wallow in his misery.
Fuck it.
“You know what? Forget it. I’m just gonna head home,” Eddie finds himself saying. He pulls out his wallet and throws a few bills on the table. “That should cover me. Tell Chim and Maddie I feel sick, it’s not even a lie.”
As Eddie moves to leave, Buck tries to stand in his way. “Come on, don’t—”
Eddie sidesteps him easily.
“Enjoy the rest of your date, Buck.”
And with that, Eddie offers Josh a wave and makes his way out of the bar.
*
It’s raining when Eddie gets outside, because of course it is.
He’s also hit with the immediate realisation that Buck drove him here, so he’s kind of stuck. He briefly considers going back inside and asking Josh for a lift home, but he can’t bring himself to face Buck right now.
Instead, he pulls his phone up and starts looking through his apps for the Uber icon. He very intentionally avoids looking at his shitty driver rating from his time in El Paso, and instead starts getting to work on ordering a car.
Unfortunately, a commotion over by the bar door catches his attention before he can confirm the ride, and Eddie locks his phone and slides it back into his pocket; if someone needs assistance, he’s going to need his hands free.
“Shit, sorry, sorry,” Eddie can hear a familiar voice saying through the rain. Louder the voice yells, “Eddie!”
He looks up just in time to see Buck pushing his way through a group of people gathered near the entrance to the bar. He looks frantic, and Eddie can’t help but feel a little satisfied that his leaving had at least some kind of effect on his best friend.
“Eddie!”
The relief in Buck’s voice rings through the air as he rushes over to Eddie.
Eddie, who resists the urge to run because he’d hoped but hadn’t let himself actually believe that Buck would come after him.
“What do you want?” Eddie asks, refusing to make space for Buck to join him under his awning.
Buck wipes some of the rain out of his eyes before speaking.
“You,” Buck responds, and Eddie’s cheeks flush. “If I’m not too late and you can forgive me for being an idiot tonight, that is.”
“You were a pretty big idiot,” Eddie responds, keeping his voice neutral. “You sure you know what you really want? Because—”
“It’s you, Eddie,” Buck implores. “It’s always been you, and it’s always going to be you.”
“What about Eduardo?” Eddie can’t help but ask, even though it’s maybe a little petty.
“I let him down easy,” Buck responds instantly. “Told him things were never going to work out between us.”
And hey, maybe Josh was onto something after all.
“Because you’re in love with me,” Eddie states hopefully, stepping out into the rain. “Right?”
“Right,” Buck says breathily. “Completely, and totally in love with you.”
He feels like a thousand butterflies have just taken up residence in his stomach.
“I love you too,” Eddie says, taking another step forward until he’s pressed right up against Buck.
“I love you,” Buck says again. “So much.”
“I know. You already said that.” Eddie huffs out a laugh. “Now are you gonna kiss me or what?”
Buck doesn’t hesitate at that, and Eddie feels his heart skip a beat as Buck’s hands move towards him—one settling on his hip, holding him close; the other on his neck, thumb running along his jaw—before finally he feels the press of Buck’s lips to his own.
Eddie gasps into Buck’s mouth immediately—the sensation overwhelming at best—and Buck doesn’t hesitate to take the opportunity to deepen the kiss. Eddie’s hands fly to Buck’s curls, gripping his rain-drenched hair tight.
Eddie wonders briefly if this might have been less intense if it weren’t a dramatic kiss in the rain, but actually no, he’s pretty sure it would have been like this no matter what.
It’s Buck, after all.
Always has been, always will be.
Unfortunately, the rain starts coming down heavier than before, and they’re forced to separate much sooner than Eddie would have liked. Eddie immediately tugs Buck back under the awning he’d previously been using as shelter.
“You should take me home,” Eddie suggests, pressing one more kiss to Buck’s lips.
“Yep, right, totally.” Buck scrambles for his keys in his pockets, holding them in the air proudly once he finds them. “Should we make a run for it?”
Eddie definitely doesn’t have the patience to wait for the rain to stop.
“Loser makes breakfast,” Eddie responds as he darts off in the direction of Buck’s car.
He hears Buck laughing behind him.
“It’s probably in both our best interests if I let you win then, huh?”
Eddie’s only response is to offer Buck his middle finger over his shoulder.
