Chapter Text
They have a couple weeks off before their next karting race. They’re spending a week in Italy, and then they’ll be spending time in Monaco for the rest of their summer break. The boys take advantage of each day, eating as much food as they want, doing activities they aren’t allowed to during the karting season.
It was a warm summer morning in Italy, the open window allowed the breeze to sweep through the room. Nico and Lewis were still asleep, tangled together in bed.
Sunlight beamed through the open curtains, hitting Nico straight in his eyes. Lewis was still sleeping peacefully, not even bothered by the blinding light.
Nico pulled the thin sheet covering them over his face, trying to block out the light. Lewis stirred slightly against him. He pulled the sheet away from Nico’s face, he was greeted by the sight of Nico smiling at him. Lewis grabbed Nico’s waist and drew him closer. Nico’s cheeks grew red; he leaned over to connect their lips in a starving kiss.
Lewis had pulled away, he tried to catch his breath, but Nico had other plans. The world seemed to stop as their faces inched closer. His lips brushed against Nico’s, sending a shiver down his spine. The kiss deepened, filled with unspoken words and emotions. A dance of passion and tenderness that neither wanted to end.
There was an unspoken tension between the two, each gaze lingering longer than it should. Each touch shared between them, lasting an eternity. But they didn’t speak about it. It was not something that would come up in conversation. It slowly drove Nico insane, leaving everything unknown.
Knock, knock, knock
Lewis and Nico ripped apart from each other, panic struck inside them. They had been good at hiding their secret so far. If they were to get caught, it would be terrifying. Lewis’s parents were more traditional than Keke and Sina. Leaving an unknown number of consequences, that ignited an intense fear inside them.
The boys scrambled to put together an outfit, all their clothes strewn across the tiled floor. Once they were decent looking Nico called out to whomever was behind the door. The door swung open to reveal Nico’s aunt Emilia, “Buongiorno la colazione è pronta” she smiled.
“Grazie, scendiamo presto” Nico responded. Lewis had no knowledge of their conversation; Nico had taught him such little words of Italian. He didn’t want to embarrass himself by pronouncing the language wrong, so he’d stick to just smiling back at her.
Once Emilia left, she closed the door behind her, Lewis asked about their conversation. “Hey, what did she say? You must forget I don’t speak Italian.” Lewis joked. “Oh, her English isn’t great. But she wanted to let us know that breakfast is ready” Nico quoted.
“You know, you should teach me some more Italian. I think I’m great at the words I know so far” Lewis argued.
Nico giggled, “In your dreams”. He inched closer to Lewis, feeling his heartbeat grow rapidly as he drew him closer. Their lips met in a gentle, lingering kiss that spoke volumes left unheard.
Nico pulled away; a slight blush painted over the skin of his cheeks. “Well, I am starving, let’s go”. Nico guided Lewis out of their room. Stopping at the top of the steps, a thought crossed his mind. “Race you?” Nico smirked.
“Already beat you Rosberg!”, and with that Lewis sped past Nico. Reaching the bottom step before Nico was even halfway down, he already accepted defeat.
Nico pouted, he folded his arms over his chest and tried to look upset. “Hey that wasn’t fair, you cheated!”
“How so? I was racing, I was faster, I passed you, I won! I won’t apologize for winning”. (Welcome back Sebastian Vettel)
Nico sulked down the rest of the steps. When he reached the last step, he jumped on Lewis’s back, sending him falling forward. They both hit the ground with a thud, Nico was grateful Lewis broke the fall. They erupted in laughter, little interactions like this always did it for Nico. He sought comfort in these moments, always feeling at peace and most comfortable.
Lewis pushed Nico off him, trying to regain balance. He extended his hand out towards Nico, raising him up on his feet.
“Well, I was the winner Nico, Doesn’t the winner get a prize?” Lewis looked at Nico with a menacing look. Nico, feeling a surge of desire, looked at Lewis with a mischievous glint in his eyes. He leaned in closer and whispered, “Yes, the winner does get a prize,” his voice thick with anticipation. Nico turned to face Lewis, he grasped at his shoulders and pushed him gently but firmly against the stairs. Their eyes locked in a moment, filled with a mix of intensity and eagerness. Nico leaned in and pressed his lips against Lewis’s.
Lewis, caught up in the moment, kissed Nico back with equal fervor. Their breaths quickened as the kiss deepened, hands exploring each other with growing urgency. The intensity between them escalated, the air around them charged with undeniable heat.
They were suddenly startled by a loud noise from the other room. The unexpected sound broke their kiss, they pulled apart, breathing heavily. Nico looked around for any prying eyes, “Wow that was close” he raked his hand through his blond locks.
Catching their breaths, Nico and Lewis slowly calmed down, the intensity of their previous moment still palpable. They shared a few lingering glances, silently acknowledging their feelings toward each other. Nico broke the silence with a gentle smile, “We should head to the garden for breakfast now.” He grabbed Lewis’s hand, guiding him towards the breakfast table outside.
When the boys walked through the kitchen to the garden, on the table there was an array of fruits, pastries and yoghurt waiting for them. Lewis grabbed a bowl and began spooning the yoghurt into the bowl. He topped it off with some fruit and opted for some fresh squeezed juice, filling his cup to the brim. Nico’s breakfast on the other hand wasn’t so healthy, he placed toast on his plate, spreading a thin layer of marmalade across the surface. He added some fruits and grabbed a croissant; he was going to enjoy his time off unlike Lewis.
They finished up breakfast rather quickly and began to clean up their plates.
“No! Non preoccupatevi, ragazzi, divertitevi. Farò pulizia”, Emilia insisted.
Nico was puzzled, “Sei sicuro?”.
His aunt shook her head and smiled, she shooed them away, insisting she had it under control. Nico felt bad for leaving the mess, but he knows better than to fight the issue. Lewis was just as dumbfounded as before not understanding anything that was going on. He needed to learn to speak Italian.
He got the hint, following Nico out of the garden. Once they were out of his aunt's view, Nico backed Lewis up against the brick wall that separated the garden from the orchard. Nico stared deeply in Lewis’ eyes, combing over every unique feature Lewis’s face holds. Nico’s grip on his waist tightened, pressing his fingers into previous bruises. It made Lewis’s body go hot all over, leaving him breathless. He felt the heat pooling in his lower stomach, needing, no; Desiring, to touch his boy.
Nico moved closer, their breaths mingling together. Nico leaned forward, licking the corner of Lewis’s mouth. Lewis laughed, pushing him away, “Now why would you do that?”
“What? You had yoghurt on the corner of your mouth, I was waiting for you to notice. Guess you took too long! I just couldn’t help myself.”
Lewis switched their positions, now pushing Nico against the wall. With a death grip on his waist, Nico whimpered under his touch. He looked up at Lewis through his lashes, knowing exactly what he’s doing to the other boy.
Lewis was the first to break their intense staring contest, surging forward to capture Nico’s lips in a heated exchange. Nico immediately melted into it, kissing back with just as much force. He pulled away, making his way down Nico’s Jaw. Nico tilted his head back, allowing more skin for Lewis to roam. Lewis sucked and bit at Nico’s neck, making the boy squirm and gasp under him. Nico thought to himself if Lewis wasn’t holding him up, his knees would’ve already given out. “Lewis… you can’t leave… any marks” Nico gasped out. Lewis knew he couldn't leave any marks, but the thought of marking him, showing everyone Nico wasn’t available, made every consequence amount to nothing.
Lewis continued to mouth at Nico’s neck. Every time his teeth grazed against Nico’s skin, Nico let out a gasp, struggling to stay quiet. Hoping for more, he needed more than this. Nico needed Lewis to lay him down and worship his body, to claim him. Every minute that passed, heightened the arousal between them.
Nico’s hands wandered down Lewis’s back slipping underneath his shirt, tracing every muscle, making Lewis shudder instantly under his touch. He pulled away from Nico breathlessly, adjusting himself in his pants.
He stared at Nico intensely, “Hey you might want to fix that!” he said slightly laughing, while pointing down to Nico’s apparent erection. Nico’s face was flushed red, “Hey you can’t do that! Why’d you stop?”
The truth was that if Lewis continued kissing him, his hands roaming over his body, he would have fucked Nico right in his aunt's orchard. “Because I wouldn’t have stopped, and I’d take you right here” he admitted.
Nico’s jaw dropped, speechless he was, completely and utterly speechless.
Instead of saying anything, Nico grasped Lewis’s hands and kissed them. He tugged him over to the bikes on the wall, “Do you want to see one of my favorite spots here in Italy?” Nico questioned. Lewis agreed, grabbing one of the bikes. “I’ll be right back, I have to tell my aunt where we are going” Nico walked back into the garden, looking for his aunt. While Lewis waited all he could think about was how he felt about Nico, how he wanted the blond all to himself. His parents would never accept him for who he truly was, that hurt the most. All he wanted was to love Nico but, there was a high probability he would never be able to, at least openly. Right then, he decided to make the most of it. He didn’t want to dwell on that, but it lingered in the back of his mind.
Nico walked through the opening, startling Lewis out of his thoughts, “Ready to go?”. Lewis nodded, and him and Nico directed the bikes out of the garden, heading out towards the driveway. “It’s actually not that far from here, just follow me,” Nico explained.
The boys walked the bikes down the driveway, making it to the end. They hopped on the bikes, peddling down the bumpy road. Nico led the way, Lewis was behind him, staring down at Nico’s ass, thinking of how round and plump it was.
Shortly after they left, they made their way to Nico’s “secret spot”. Known as “Laghetto dei Riflessi,” Nico informed him. “I call it Monet’s Berm, I come here to read, write, or when I need to think. I've never brought anyone here before,” Nico smiled, “This is my special place and you’re my special person; I think they should coexist together. I hope you love it as much as I do,” the words spilled from Nico’s mouth.
The sun shined perfectly through the trees, casting a golden glow to Nico’s hair, all Lewis could think about was how full of Love he is.
It’s was beautiful lake surrounded by trees; the water was crystal clear. The stream flowed down from the mountains. Lewis didn't like it here, he loved it. He loved that Nico brought him here, trusting him to be in his sacred place.
Lewis made his way over to Nico, wrapping his arms around Nico’s waist, drawing him in close, feeling the warmth of Nico’s body against his. Lewis nestled his head into the curve of Nico’s neck, his breath sending shivers down Nico’s spine.
“I don’t like it here,” Lewis mumbled against his neck, Nico’s heart dropped at the words leaving Lewis’s mouth, leaving him tense in his arms. Lewis continued, “I love it here, it’s beautiful,” the tension in Nico’s shoulders eased with Lewis’s reassuring words.
With a gentle touch, Nico cradled his face and brought their lips together in a tender kiss. Lewis kissed back with equal fervor, slipping his hands under Nico’s shirt, grazing the skin beneath his palms. Nico was the first to pull away, catching his breath. He could get lost in Lewis forever, he was so full of love.
“Race to the water?” Lewis questioned, they both got rid of their socks and shoes in record time. They took off striding towards the water, Nico was the first one to make it in, diving into the shallow water. He winced at the temperature, it was freezing. One thing Nico always loved about visiting the stream was the icy water. It refreshed him, cleansed his body, and cleared his mind.
“Hey! This is freezing mate!” Lewis screamed. “That’s what I love about it! It’s so refreshing.” Nico floated around. While Lewis was standing there shivering, Nico managed to sneak up behind him, grabbing his ankles and knocking him over, he became fully submerged in the chilly water. Nico dove under the water, holding Lewis’s face, bringing his lips to Lewis’s. They intertwined beneath the surface, the sensation of the water added an extra layer of intimacy, making the moment even more special. This was something Nico would never forget.
Lewis pushed against the ground to break their underwater sanctuary, coming up for air. He gripped at Nico’s waist, holding him in place. Nico held Lewis close, both floating in the water. Nico wrapped his legs around Lewis’s waist, now relying on Lewis to hold him up. They swam for what seemed like hours, losing track of time.
They were floating on the water, lying parallel beside each other, both basking in the serenity of peace. Nico’s stomach growled loudly, embarrassing him slightly. “Are you getting hungry?” Lewis inquired. “Just a little, but I don’t want to leave.” Nico softly replied. “Nico, we’ve been here for hours and that’s not the first time I’ve heard your stomach growl, I’m getting hungry too,” Lewis fought.
Nico started to protest but decided not to fight. Nico hovered over Lewis, blocking out the sun. Lewis’s eyes began to open and before he could say anything, Nico dunked him under the water one last time.
Nico went ahead and started swimming to the shore. The air was hot and sticky above the water, making his clothes stick uncomfortably to his skin. He slipped his shirt above his head, making a scene for Lewis, taking it off in a slow and agonizing pace.
All Lewis could do was stare in amazement. Every inch of Nico’s skin glistened under the sunlight, smooth and cool to the touch, like polished marble. The water droplets clung to him highlighted the contours and made his skin look almost ethereal. It was as if the stream had imbued him with its own clarity and purity.
Lewis was frozen in the water, watching Nico from afar. The sight in front of him left him speechless. He felt the heat pooling in his lower belly, he was scared to get out of the water. Feeling his erection growing by the minute.
Lewis swam to the shore, pulling his shirt down to his knees, trying to cover the apparent hardness in his shorts. Nico dropped his shirt to the ground, as he turned, he caught Lewis trying to hide his growing hardness. Nico started laughing, “Looks like you have a little problem there!”
“You’re such a menace Nico,” Lewis tried to be angry; he couldn’t keep up the facade. He could never be mad at Nico, especially then, as breathtaking as he was.
“Well let’s head back to the house, since you’re starving Lewis,” Nico grabbed his shirt off the ground, and tied it to his handlebars. He jumped back on his bike, leaving Lewis standing there, with his “problem”.
“Hey! Wait up Nico,” Lewis sprung into action, hopped on his bike, and peddled as fast as he could to catch up to Nico. By the time he caught up to Nico he was completely out of breath.
“I’m still the fastest, Lewis,” Nico joked, he knew that he wasn’t the fastest, but he loved to tease Lewis.
“Oh, you know that’s not true,” Lewis fought back.
Shortly after, the boys made it back to Nico’s aunt's house. They hopped off their bikes, walking them back up to the orchard, laying them propped against the brick wall. Nico walked off to find his aunt, informing her they were back from the lake. When Nico came back to Lewis, he was holding a towel. He wrapped the towel around Lewis, the gesture made Lewis’s heart swell. After they were somewhat dry, they made their way through the house.
Lewis led the way up the stairs, walking them to their shared room. Lewis opened the door, Nico followed behind, closing the door and fastening the lock. Lewis knew what was to come, maybe him, maybe Nico. Or both.
He trapped Nico between him and the closed door, trailing his hands down Nico’s smooth skin. Nico gasped under his touch, “Please Lewis,” Lewis was fully aware of what he was doing.
He looked down, smirking at Nico, “Please what?”
Instead of speaking, Nico pushed his lips against Lewis’s. Kissing him hard, and desperate. Lewis pulled away, “Someone’s eager, aren’t they?” he laughed.
Lewis pulled away, putting some distance between him and Nico. “Arschloch..” Nico cursed under his breath. All Lewis did was laugh in his face, “That’s what you get for that little stunt you pulled at the lake!”
Lewis started to strip himself, getting ready for a shower. He took off everything but his boxers, Nico stood there staring at the door. “Take a picture it will last longer mate” Lewis walked off into the ensuite. Nico rolled his eyes and scoffed, stripping off the remainder of his clothing.
Nico walked into the bathroom completely naked, slipping in the shower in front of Lewis. Lewis grabbed Nico’s waist, making their bodies collide, his manhood flush against Nico’s ass. The contact made Nico weak in the knees, making him wonder what it would be like to be fucked by Lewis.
They had never gone that far, only breaching the surface of heated making out and grinding on each-other. Nico turned around, looking at Lewis through his eyelashes, he sank down to his knees. Nico nodded his head at him to ask for permission, “Yes, continue… fuck” Lewis gasped out. Nico was laughing in his head because he hadn’t even touched Lewis yet.
Nico brought his hand up to grab Lewis’s manhood, licking his lips at the sight before him. Lewis was already half hard from the ten previous encounters they had, this just adding to the arousal that ignited inside of him. The sight of Nico on his knees in front of him, was doing stuff to him in ways he would never be able to explain.
Nico began leaving soft kisses along Lewis’s pelvic area, getting closer and closer. Lewis wished he would just get on with it, to stop with the teasing, he needed this, he needed Nico. Lewis brought a hand up to Nico’s blond locks, grabbing a handful and pulling softly. Nico let out a whimper, it hurt but in an enjoyable way. “Please, Nico stop teasing me,” Lewis groaned. With that Nico took his lips and began peppering kisses along Lewis’s tip. Lewis groaned out, he was getting so impatient, he pulled on Nico’s hair with more force than before.
Nico finally decided Lewis had begged enough; he positioned Lewis into his mouth and began taking his length. “Ahh… Fuck Nico, you’re so beautiful like this” Lewis gasped. He gripped both sides of Nico's head, pushing himself deeper, hitting the back of his throat. Nico choked at the sudden intrusion; Lewis didn’t want to hurt him, so he pulled Nico’s head back slightly. Nico looked up, his hair completely soaked, his skin flushed red, his eyes forming tears. He hummed along Lewis’s length sending vibrations of arousal through his entire body.
“So good for me baby,” Lewis praised. Nico pulled off Lewis, but before Lewis could protest Nico had already grabbed him, taking him back down his throat. Lewis immediately bottomed out in his mouth, groaning at sensation. He’s never felt something so intense, every nerve ending in his body ready to explode.
Nico can taste the precum that gathered at Lewis’s slit. Lewis begins fucking into Nico’s mouth, slow and agonizing at first. Once Nico relaxes his throat, only then does Lewis speed up, he’s so close yet he doesn’t ever want this to end. Nico is fighting back his gag reflex, trying to be good for Lewis.
“Oh fuck… I'm so close, baby,” Lewis stuttered. Each thrust sending electric shock waves down Nico’s spine, the tears welled in his eyes. One final thrust and Lewis is coming down his throat, “My god, you took me so well,” Lewis admires.
Lewis pulls out of his mouth, wiping the excess of his cum on Nico’s bruised and puffy lips. Lewis was met with a scene that was utterly indecent. Nico down on his knees, the water cascading over his skin. His pupils completely blown out, his arousal making itself known. The fact he came untouched.
Lewis reached down, gently caressing Nico’s jaw. Nothing but love shining through his eyes. Nico leaned into his touch, bringing his hand to rest onto Lewis’s, a silent gesture of connection during this tender moment. They stayed still for a moment, the only sound was the water falling onto their bodies, enveloping them in a warm comfort. Lewis gently tilted Nico’s chin up, looking into his eyes with a mix of tenderness and admiration. Silently communicating his feelings with the need for words.
Nico’s voice was hoarse, pride began to swell in Lewis knowing he did that, "Help me up? Please”. Lewis scooped under Nico’s arms, pulling him up into an embrace. Nico’s lips curved into a smile at the action.
The water flowed against their bodies, the droplets clinging to their skin. Lewis littered soft kisses against Nico’s forehead. Lewis grabbed the shampoo bottle, pouring a generous amount into his palm. He massaged it into Nico’s blond locks, the slight pressure makes Nico slip out a slight moan. “Trying to get me worked up again? Aren’t you? You little menace,” Lewis laughed, Nico smiled at his words, that in the back of his mind it was certainly true. He rinsed out Nico’s hair, tugging at the strands.
Nico had regained his balance, supporting his own weight. So, Lewis let him go, starting to wash his own hair. After he rinsed the shampoo off his scalp, he stood there. The water cascaded over their bodies, creating a steamy haze in the shower. Lewis stood close behind Nico, massaging Nico’s shoulders, the water streaming down their skin. The intimate space amplified their connection, each touch and glance charged with unspoken emotion. Nico tilted his head back, resting against Lewis’s shoulder. Lewis’s presence enveloped him in a comforting embrace.
Lewis’s arms snaked around Nico’s waist, pulling him closer. “You were so good for me,” Lewis broke the silence. Lewis softly asked, “How are you feeling? Really feeling?”
Nico, leaning into the warmth of Lewis’s touch, replied, “I feel safe with you. I never have to worry about anything when you’re around." Lewis smiled, his gentle, “I’m glad. You mean so much to me, Nico. I want you to always feel this way.” Nico turned slightly, looking into Lewis’s eyes, he pushed on the heels of his feet, placing a wet kiss to Lewis’s lips. Lewis kissed back, his hands tracing soothing patterns on Nico’s back.
As Lewis and Nico stood in the shower, enjoying the warmth and closeness, the water gradually turned cold. Nico shivered, his body tensing up from the unexpected chill.
“Ah that’s freezing!” Nico exclaimed, stepping back slightly. Lewis chuckled, wrapping his arms around Nico to share his body heat. “The hot water ran out I suppose,” he said, his breath warm against Nico’s ear.
“Guess we’ll have to warm each other up, then,” Nico winked.
Lewis turned the faucet off, pulling the shower curtain open, the outside air warming them up instantly. Lewis stepped out of the shower and reached for a towel off the rack. He playfully chucked it at Nico. Nico laughed as he caught the towel, shaking his head.
Lewis grinned, wrapping the towel around his waist, “We need to hurry and get dressed. I'm starving.” Nico followed suit, drying off with the towel Lewis had thrown.
They got dressed rather quickly, extremely hungry after the events of the morning.
Emilia had gone into town, leaving the boys to fend for themselves in terms of lunch.
Lewis was standing behind Nico, with his head resting on Nico’s shoulder. Lewis held Nico close, his hands lying right above Nico’s hip bones. His grip made Nico’s breath hitch; Lewis could feel the heat emitting from Nico’s lean body.
“Thank you,” Lewis whispered against Nico’s neck. The hair on Nico’s neck raised, goosebumps igniting over his smooth skin. He raised his eyebrows, what was Lewis thanking him for?
“For what?” He was genuinely confused; he hadn’t done anything but stand here.
“For letting me have you, for trusting me. For being so good for me,” his voice was warm and gooey, full of affection.
If anyone was around, they’d see how Nico’s expression changed. His face was flushed cherry red, and his pupils were blown. He needs to learn to not let Lewis’s words affect him as much as they do.
Nico stayed silent. He didn’t need to say anything for Lewis to know he felt the same. All signs coming straight from his body. Nico turned around, wrapping his arms around Lewis, pulling him close. He wanted to be closer to him, he wanted to crawl under his skin and make a home there, where he was happy.
Lewis melted against Nico, their bodies flush against each other. Lewis tucked his head between Nico’s neck, kissing him softly, rubbing his hands down Nico’s back, slipping them under his shirt. Nico held the back of Lewis’s head, pressing him against his neck, hoping Lewis would start to be rougher. Lewis got the message, and he started nipping, scattering kisses along Nico’s throat, unrestrained more than before. Nico shivered, gasping softly, under the touch. Nico’s thoughts were sucked from his brain, nothing inside his head other than, Lewis, Lewis, Lewis.
Nico pulled away from Lewis, “We can’t do this here. What if my aunt walks through the door?”
“Then I would let her see what you mean to me, show her you’re all mine” the look in Lewis’s eyes was captivating, his pupils dilated, betraying his growing arousal.
“Come on! I am hungry” Nico pulled Lewis through the threshold of the kitchen. Under Lewis’s breath he whispered, “I have something you can eat”. Nico turned around and playfully slapped Lewis on the shoulder, rolling his eyes at him, “So perverted”.
“So, what do you want for lunch? I’m thinking a sandwich or a wrap and some fruit” Nico offered some ideas. Lewis weighed his options, “Hmmm… A sandwich sounds nice but I'm thinking, you”.
“Lewis, I swear you need to be serious,” Nico snapped.
“A sandwich sounds nice,” Lewis said as Nico started to gather the ingredients for a sandwich and his wrap. Lewis stood to the side, leaning against the island. In a sick way, he could see this in the future. Him and Nico making lunch together, in their own flat with a dog, embraced in their own serenity.
Nico started clapping in front of Lewis’s face, struggling to get his attention. “Lewis, Hello?!”
Lewis jumped; he was met with Nico flailing his arms in front of him. “Nico what are you doing?”
“Well while you were off in Lala land, I finished your sandwich,” he held out Lewis’s sandwich, with crusty Italian bread, Prosciutto, basil, tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, and balsamic vinegar.
“Thank you,” Lewis’s mouth started watering. Nico grabbed their plates and placed them down on the placemats. Nico sat down; Lewis was still stationary against the counter. “Are you coming or what?” Nico had a mouthful of food.
Lewis wished he was coming in a different way, his mind plagued with images of Nico on his knees, the heat of his mouth, the blue eyes that looked up at him as he came.
“Lewis?”
Lewis hoped his semi hard on wasn't showing through his shorts, he adjusted himself and waddled over to the table.
“Looks like you’re excited there!” Nico laughed. “Shut up,” Lewis sat in his chair uncomfortably, he brought his sandwich to his mouth and took a huge bite.
“Mmmmm,” he moaned, the flavors combined melted against his tongue.
Nico was wide eyed, “Damn is it that good?” Lewis nodded frantically, he couldn’t even say anything, his mouth full of another bite. Lewis finished his sandwich in five bites, while Nico still had half a Caesar wrap left on his plate. Lewis wiped his mouth with a napkin, lying it down on his plate. “Why aren’t you eating?”
“I’m full,” Nico pushed his chair from under the table and grabbed his and Lewis’s plates. Placing Lewis’s dirty plate into the sink and wrapping the rest of his food up.
“I’m beat, Take me to bed?” Nico inquired. “Anything you want,” Lewis stood up from his chair, pushing in under the table. He made his way to Nico, grasping at his hands. They walked towards the stairs, walking step by step till they made it to their room.
They walked in, Lewis closed the door behind them. He walked them both to the bed, taking off his shirt, followed by Nico stripping his shirt off. Lewis climbed onto the bed, settling himself comfortably. Nico followed, gently lying on Lewis’s chest feeling the steady rise and fall of his breathing, creating a sense of warmth and closeness between them.
Lewis embraced Nico, running his hands down the small of his back, massaging his lower back. “Oh, keep doing that please,” Nico sighed.
“Yeah? Feels good?”
Nico mumbled, going in and out of consciousness. Lewis kept rubbing his back until he felt Nico’s breath even out and his eyes fully close. Soon after Lewis fell victim to sleep. In this moment, he felt completed, as if every piece of his soul had finally found its rightful place, and the world around him faded into insignificance. Leaving only the profound connection that bound them together.
Nico's eyes fluttered open, the evening light filtering gently through the curtains. He reached out instinctively for Lewis, but his hand met only the cool, empty sheets. He sat up, scanning the room for any sign of his partner. The bed felt unusually large and lonely without Lewis beside him.
He swung his legs over the edge of the bed and stood up. He bent over grabbing his discarded shirt from the floor, slipping it over his head. Nico moved through the bedroom and into the hallway, he called for Lewis. To be met with nothing but silence. He ran down the stairs, he peeked through the kitchen door, but no one was there.
He walked through the kitchen door, and just as he was about to panic, he heard a faint noise coming from outside. Nico hurried through the backdoor towards the garden, to see Lewis conversing with Nico’s older cousin, Luca.
Luca was one of the older kids he grew up around when he visited Crema, he wasn’t technically Nico’s cousin, but they’ve known each other so long they considered each other cousins. He had just arrived back from college and stopped by to see Nico.
Nico stood there in the doorway, hoping Lewis would notice he was standing there.
“Well, good morning sleepy head,” Lewis greeted. Nico rolled his eyes and went to sit down in the chair beside Lewis.
“Ciao, Nico,” Luca smiled. “La zia Emilia tonera presto a casa per cena.” He informed. Nico nodded in response, hunger bubbling deep in his gut. Lewis and Luca continued their conversation about music. Nico just spectated, knowing not to bud into this conversation, because he liked girly pop music. Lewis teased him about it all the time, he didn’t need his cousin to tease him about his atrocious taste in music.
Lewis’s hand slipped under the table, scooting Nico's chair closer towards him. He slid his hand over the small of Nico’s thigh, squeezing tightly. He ran his fingertips over the smooth tan skin. Nico shifted in his chair, swatting Lewis’s hands away. He looked over at Lewis, widening his eyes towards him. Hoping his message of “Stop touching me in front of my cousin” was wiped across his face. Lewis didn’t even look his direction, consumed by the conversation. But Nico knows what Lewis is trying to do, and Lewis knows exactly what he’s doing. That’s why he has a huge stupid grin plastered all over his face.
Nico’s aunt appeared in the door, “Che gioia vederti, luca quanto tempo e passato! vieni qui, dammi un abbraccio forte. Me sei mancato tantissimo!” She heads towards Luca’s chair, scooping him up into a big hug, kissing him on both cheeks. Emilia left red lipstick stains on both of his cheeks. “Looks like you got a little something there Luca!” Nico laughed and pointed to his cheeks.
Luca and Emilia walked back into the kitchen, leaving Lewis and Nico by themselves. “Why did you leave me alone?” Nico spat. “You were sleeping, and someone was knocking on the door. So, I got up to see who it was,” Lewis didn’t want to be rude, so he stayed downstairs talking to Luca until Nico woke up.
Nico couldn’t fight with that, he’s glad his two favorite people seem to get along well.
Nico’s stomach started growling, he was getting hungrier by the second. “I’m going to go ask my aunt when dinner is,” with that he pushed his chair from underneath the table and stood up, walking into the house. When he walked into the kitchen, Emilia was standing over the stove stirring sauce in a pot.
“Quando finirà la cena?”
“Presto farò gli spaghetti alla carbonara,” Emilia put the noodles into the boiling water.
“Luca resta a cena?” Nico hoped he was staying for dinner. “No, ha detto che aveva qualcosa di cui occuparsi stasera,” Emilia replied, looking around the kitchen frantically for something. Nico frowned at her words, sensing her looking for something he asked “Che cosa sta cercando?”
“Non riesco a trovare la pancetta,” she seemed aggravated. Nico offered “Io e Lewis possiamo andare in città”.
“Sei sicuro? Sarebbe carino,” she smiled, she walked over to where her purse was sitting on the counter, pulling out ten euros to cover the cost of the pancetta. She handed Nico the currency and he went back to the garden. When he walked back through the door, Lewis looked up at him. “So, what’s the verdict on dinner?” Lewis interrogated.
“Well, it seems she forgot the meat, so I offered to go into town for her. Would you like to come with me?”
Lewis rubbed his chin, acting like he was thinking about if he wanted to go or not, “Is that really a question?” Nico raised his eyebrows at Lewis, “Come on, let’s go then”. Lewis let out a long sigh, “You’re so bossy”.
He stood up from the metal chair, following behind Nico. They went behind the brick wall, grabbing their bikes. They directed them down the bumpy driveway just like they did this morning. Hopping on them as soon as they hit the paved road. Nico was glad Emilia’s house was about a couple miles from the nearest market.
They traveled through the small countryside before they made it to the city. They jumped off their bikes, laying them against the railing of the store.
Nico opened the door, the greeting bell ringing as he did. Lewis walked through the door, “What a gentleman.” “Only for you,” Nico muttered trying to hide the smirk plastered on his face.
The old lady behind the counter greeted the boys, “Ciao, stai cercando qualcosa di speciale?” she asked while she sat down her yarn and crochet hooks.
Nico looked around, “Sì, cerco la pancetta,” he said nervously.
She stepped from behind the counter, walking down the short set of stairs, “Oh, proprio da questa parte, tesoro.” Nico followed behind her, and Lewis behind him. She directed them in the direction of the pancetta, lending them a couple of options. Giving the boys time to choose with no pressure, she went back behind the counter resuming her crochet project.
Nico grabbed the one that seemed to be the same as the one his aunt always buys. He reads over the label, ensuring he’s got the right one.
Nico sat the meat down on the scale, after it was weighed, she wrapped it up in some paper and stuck it in a bag. She handed the bag over to Nico, “Il costo è di cinque euro.” Nico knew that couldn’t be correct, “Sei sicuro che sia giusto?”
She nodded and smiled, “Sì, e saluta tua zia Emilia da parte mia.” Nico handed her five euros as she insisted. He felt bad, so he left the other five in her tip jar. A wide smile projected over his face as he waved goodbye. Lewis waved goodbye as well and both boys made it outside.
They grabbed their bikes from the railing, Nico tied the market bag around his handlebars. Lewis just stared off into the distance. “Lewis, what is up with this daydreaming?” Nico laughs. Lewis didn’t say anything and hopped on his bike slowly following behind Nico.
They made it back just before the sun set. Making their way up the driveway to put the bikes away. They walk through the back door that leads to the kitchen, to deliver the pancetta to Emilia. Emilia expressed her gratitude towards the boys, “Ah, grazie mille ragazzi!”
Nico could smell the pasta sauce his aunt made, his stomach growled, his mouth watered. All of this further reminded him of the absence of food, he should’ve eaten more at lunch.
Lewis stood beside Nico with a toothy grin, he still had no clue what anyone was saying in this house. Let me remind you again, Nico needs to teach him Italian. Maybe that’s something they’ll go over tonight.
Emilia shooed them away, motioning her hands in a ‘go away’ manner. So instead of being completely useless, Nico wanted to help by setting the table outside in the garden. They won’t be having any guests over tonight so nothing super fancy. Lewis grabbed the placemats, putting them in their respective place. Nico went inside to collect the plates and silverware. When he came back, Lewis had already placed down the napkins. Nico set down the plates and cups. Then Lewis took the silverware and finished it off.
“Sit down and I’m going to see if she needs any help in there,” Nico slinks out of his chair. But before Lewis could protest, Nico disappeared back through the door, leaving Lewis by his lonesome.
When Nico walked in the kitchen, he asked Emilia if she needed any assistance. She shook her head no, but Nico insisted he could help. Emilia had already prepared a salad, but the dressing still needed to be assembled.
Nico stood in the kitchen; he gathered the ingredients for the dressing. He reached for the bottle of olive oil, pouring it in his small mixing bowl with a steady hand. He then added a generous splash of red wine vinegar; the tangy aroma filling the air. Then he drizzled in a spoonful of honey, with a pinch of salt and ground pepper.
He began whisking the mixture together. They blended into a smooth fragrant dressing. Nico poured the mixture into a glass dressing bottle, making sure he screwed the lid on tight. Ten minutes passed by, and Nico emerged from the kitchen holding a bowl of salad, a bottle of red wine, and a vinaigrette. “She’s just finishing up the pasta and dinner will be ready.” Nico looked proud. The salad looked astounding. It contained fresh romaine lettuce, cut up tomatoes, red onions, olives and grated parmesan. Nico placed the bottle of dressing next to the salad bowl.
Nico set down the bottle of wine near Emilia’s glass. Lewis watched, he felt bad he didn’t help Nico, but to his defense Nico told him to stay put. Nico sat down in his chair across from Lewis, staring deep into his brown eyes. Lewis could feel his face heat up. A small smile rippled across Nico’s face. Letting Lewis know that Nico can see how it’s affecting him.
Emilia walked outside, propping the backdoor open while holding the dish of spaghetti alla carbonara. She carefully carried the steaming dish to the table where Lewis and Nico were waiting. The rich aroma of pancetta and creamy sauce filled the air, making their mouths water. With a warm smile she placed down the bowl in the middle of the table. Nico and Lewis exchanged delighted glances, ready to dig into the delicious meal Emilia had prepared.
Nico scooped a generous amount of pasta on his plate, reflecting the hunger he felt. Nico handed the spoon to Lewis. Lewis leaned forward and carefully scooped a portion of the pasta onto his plate. The creamy sauce clung to the strands of the pasta, interspersed with crispy bits of pancetta. Once the boys were done serving themselves, Emilia served herself.
Emilia picked up the bottle of wine and began to pour some into Nico’s and Lewis’s glasses. The deep, ruby liquid cascaded smoothly, filling the glasses with a rich, inviting hue. Lewis looked up at Nico raising his eyebrows, his parents never let him drink wine. Emilia moved with grace, only filling their glasses halfway. She poured herself a healthy amount, leaving only about a glass left in the bottle. Once they were served, she sat the bottle down and smiled warmly at them.
“Grazie!” Lewis unexpectedly said, his face bright red in fear of saying the wrong thing. Nico smiled at the gesture, repeating “Grazie, Emilia!” Lewis felt at ease with Nico’s words.
Lewis twirled his fork gathering a perfect morsel and couldn’t help but smile in anticipation of the delicious bite in front of him. Lewis savored each forkful of the rich and creamy spaghetti carbonara. The flavors of the pancetta, parmesan, and perfectly cooked pasta melded together in a delightful harmony. The sauce was smooth and velvety. In between bites he took sips of his wine. The bold, fruity notes complementing the savory pasta beautifully. Nico and Lewis exchanged satisfied glances.
After everyone was finished, Lewis and Nico leaned back in their chairs, feeling pleasantly full. They shared a contented smile, the warmth of the meal lingering in the air. The table was scattered with empty plates and glasses.
Emilia had resorted inside, leaving behind the wine bottle. The boys were still at the table, sipping on the wine left in their glasses. They were sitting in silence, exchanging glances. The silence wasn’t cold and distant; it was warm and charged with electricity.
“I was surprised when your aunt poured us wine,” Lewis admitted. “How so?” Nico replies, taking the last sip out of his glass, grabbing the bottle and pouring some more. “I don’t know, it shocked me. My parents would freak if they knew I drank wine tonight,” Lewis felt slightly embarrassed. “What they don’t know won’t hurt them!” Nico laughed. “Yeah, I suppose you’re right,” he agreed.
“Now, finish up, it’s getting late. Take me to bed!” As the words left Nico’s mouth, Lewis rid his cup of any liquid. Nico was so clearly hazed, stuttering slightly and laughing profusely. Nico’s face was flushed; a wide grin blanketed his face. “Come on its bedtime,” Lewis stood from his chair, pushing it under the table. Nico was stationary, still sitting down in his chair, looking at Lewis through his eyelashes. With an expression of want. “Why are you looking at me like that?” Lewis questioned. Nico stayed silent, he licked his bottom lip. He started to speak, but nothing came out. “What are you going to make me carry you?” Lewis folded his arms against his chest.
Nico held his facade, until Lewis gave in, scooping Nico up in his arms. Nico shrieked at the sudden movement. Lewis grabbed both of their glasses, shuffling them both through the door. He sat the cups down next to the sink.
Nico held on to Lewis’s neck, trying to support his weight. Lewis ushered up the stairs, making sure to keep Nico safe. They were both struggling to be quiet, laughing and Nico couldn't keep his mouth shut. “What if we did it on the stairs,” Nico pressed a tight kiss to Lewis’s forehead. Lewis let out a heart warmed chuckle, “Someone has had a little too much to drink tonight!”
Nico began to protest, but kept his mouth shut “Hmmm... Let me think about that. No.” Lewis is amazed that he would even say that “Well think again, you can’t stop smiling. Plus, you just asked me to fuck you right here on the stairs!”
Nico was trying to fight a fight he wouldn’t win. He tried again, “I only had a couple sips! I can’t stop smiling because I love you. I love everything about you. You, you, you.” the words kept coming. Lewis stopped in the middle of the staircase. Nico just said he loved him; this can’t be true. Nico sensed the shift in the atmosphere, “Hey! Why did we stop moving?”
Lewis stood like a statue, holding Nico in his arms, who couldn’t stay still. A million thoughts ran through Lewis’s head. Lewis began moving up the stairs again, still holding onto Nico. He made it to their room. The door was wide open allowing him to slip through with ease. Lewis stood Nico up, walking over to their wardrobe and picking out some pajamas for him. Lewis sat the pajamas down beside him, “Do you need help putting these on?”
“Hmm can’t I just sleep naked?” Nico prodded. “No, you can’t. Do you need help or not?” Lewis was firm with his answer. Nico frowned, “Help me please.”
“Alright let’s get you into your pajamas,” he said gently. Nico giggled; his cheeks flushed. Lewis guided him to the bed, steadying him with a firm but tender grip. He helped Nico sit down and began to unbutton his shirt, his fingers working deftly. Nico’s head lolled slightly, but he smiled up at Lewis, his eyes half-lidded.
“You’re so good to me,” Nico mumbled, his words slurring a bit. Lewis smiled. His heart swelled with affection. “Anything for you,” he replied softly. He carefully slipped Nico’s arms out of the shirt and helped him into a cozy pajama top. Nico leaned into Lewis, his movements slow and uncoordinated, but Lewis was patient, guiding him with care.
Once Nico was dressed, Lewis helped him lie down, pulling the covers up to his chin. Lewis brushed a strand of hair from Nico’s forehead, “There you go.” Nico sighed contentedly, his eyes closing. Lewis leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to his forehead.
Lewis slipped out of his shirt, striping down to only his shorts. He slid into bed next to Nico, his warm body cascading heat over the bed. Nico turned to face him, “You know I meant what I said,” he confessed. Complete radio silence from Lewis. Nico didn’t want to push anything, he just sighed and wrapped his arms around Lewis, their bodies melting into one. Lewis wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight, dwelling on the confession Nico just made.
Lewis laid there for what seemed like years, Nico’s warm body pressed against him. Nico stirred slightly; sleep etched into his features. He turned and opened his eyes to look at Lewis, and he mumbled “What’s wrong? Why aren’t you asleep?” Lewis grabbed his face, placing a small kiss on his forehead, “Nothing, everything is okay. Go back to sleep.” he sighed.
“Okay, if you say so. Goodnight, love.” with that Nico curled up to Lewis, letting sleep overtake him. The steady rise and fall of Nico’s chest ensured he was asleep, and Lewis can continue fighting the ongoing battle inside his head.
Lewis held onto Nico as tight as he could, never wanting this to end. Nico’s head was perched on Lewis’s bare chest, his golden locks being combed through by Lewis’s calloused hands. He hummed in his sleep, unknowing of the conflict Lewis was struggling through.
Love, love, love. Lewis couldn’t understand why he couldn't say it back to Nico. He felt everything for him, he wanted to spend every second over every day with him. When the three words left Nico’s mouth, it sent Lewis into a downward spiral. There was no possibility he was loved by Nico. He wasn’t anything extraordinary, he wasn't special, the list could go on. The words sat on the tip of his tongue, threatening to spill. Lewis wanted to tell him how he truly felt, but not when he was intoxicated. Nico can say it without hesitation, what is wrong with Lewis?
The turmoil that had been building up inside Lewis snapped, tears streamed down his face. His body shivered, chills running through him. Even with Nico nestled beside him he couldn't help but feel cold, and alone. He choked out as he tried to hold back the sobs that racked from his body.
Gradually, his tears slowed. Lewis wiped the stray tears from his face. Exhausted from the emotional release, Lewis finally drifted off to sleep. Comforted by the warmth and presence of Nico sleeping softly beside him.
Lewis had awoken a cold sweat. His breathing was frantic. Nico was still asleep peacefully, his chest rising andfalling softly. Lewis sat up, scanning the room. The curtains were still open, the moonlight shining in the dark sky, letting light pour through the room.
Lewis untangled his limbs from Nico’s, trying to be cautious as to not wake Nico up. Lewis swung his feet over the side of the bed, he stood up walking over to the balcony. He unlocked the tall wooden doors, pushing them open. The fresh air was inviting, he no longer felt suffocated. Lewis left the doors open, the chill of the night swept through the room.
He slipped back under the covers embracing Nico from behind. He buried his nose in Nico’s hair, inhaling the sweet fruity scent of his shampoo. Lewis closed his eyes, hoping his underlying fears would vanish. Letting him live in the moment, letting him love Nico without complications.
Lewis lies in the moon lit room, staring at the ceiling. The soft breathing coming from Nico beside him was the only sound, a gentle reminder of the comfort and security Nico provided. Lewis’s eyes traced the familiar patterns of shadows on the walls, his mind replaying the events of the day.
He shifted slightly, trying to find a more comfortable position. Every time he closed his eyes, his thoughts raced. It was becoming more difficult to find peace.
Lewis reached out and gently brushed his fingers against Nico’s hand, drawing strength from the simple touch. He focused on the steady rhythm of Nico’s breathing. Slowly the tension in his body began to ease, and his mind quieted. He looked at Nico’s face once more, bringing him to peace. Lewis closed his eyes again, this time allowing himself to be carried away by the soothing atmosphere of their room. The weight of exhaustion pulled him under, he drifted to sleep. Comforted by the fact he wasn’t alone, and he was loved. Love
