Chapter Text
It was stupid of Travis to get Taylor Swift tickets just to give her a friendship bracelet.
Why?
One, she’s Taylor Swift.
Two, she wouldn’t be interested, let alone know of his existence.
Three, how would he give it to her in the first place?
But then you saw the smile on his face, the excitement in his voice and the friendship bracelets in his hand. He was fully dedicated and when he asked you to come along, you couldn’t say no.
Partly to make sure he didn’t embarrass himself, but also because you were a big fan of hers yourself.
Which is how you ended up in the arrowhead stadium in Kansas City with him on a Saturday night. He was dressed up, friendship bracelets filled his hands, and you were right beside him, his sister, trying not to freak out too much as Cruel Summer began.
You’d loved Taylor’s music for years now– having discovered her in the Red era. It was nothing new that you found yourself relating to the words of her songs, always gravitating towards them.
What started out as mere admiration for her song writing, led to something bigger. You slowly joined the Swifties online, analyzing her lyrics, coming up with stupid theories to laugh at.
Slowly, you built yourself a name within the fandom, opening up a Youtube channel to be silly and talk about pop culture.
People recognized you, some as Travis Kelce, the football player’s sister, some as the youtuber who clowns with them and whines about their mastermind score online.
It was nothing out of the ordinary for celebrities to attend the Eras Tour, many had. However, it wasn’t frequent that a football player attended a show. Most fans speculated you had dragged him along, some thought he was a part of an easter egg, others didn’t care or didn’t know who he was.
The show went on, you joined in on fan chants, taught Travis all he had to be taught for the show, like the “you belong with me” clap, the 22 hat, the surprise song dive, and most of all, about the little game the fans played called “mastermind” or “swiftball.”
You joked around with some of the people sitting in the rows under you about how your score was dying with Taylor repeating most of the outfits from yesterday’s show.
Overall, you had fun. It was the Eras tour, you didn’t doubt it for a second.
Of course, hearing and seeing Taylor Swift on stage was mesmerizing. The way she commanded the stage, the way she interacted with the crowd, the way the crowd screamed for her.
The way it felt so magical singing along to these songs with around 50,000 other people, all as obsessed with her as you were.
At that point, the friendship bracelet that Travis wanted to give her had completely slipped out of your mind, too busy screaming and laughing along with the crowd.
Travis hadn’t forgotten, though.
You weren’t sure why he wanted to give Taylor his number, he had never shown interest in her, or her music before. It was a sudden decision.
Regardless, you had agreed to help him, but had forgotten.
And now you both returned home, a sad look on his face.
“I couldn’t give it to her,” He mumbled, his gaze falling to his lap where he twirled the bracelet with his number around his fingers.
“Hey, Trav, there’s no way you could have. She was on stage, and you know she doesn’t meet people before or after shows.”
“How do you know that?” He lifted his gaze, now looking at you, curious.
“Because I’m a stalker,” you joke. He lets out a chuckle, shaking his head. “Of course, I mean, with how much you talk about her, I wouldn’t be surprised.”
You let out a dramatic gasp, playfully hitting his shoulder.
“I do not! Besides, I’m not the one that wanted to give her a bracelet with my number on it.” You smirk.
He rolls his eyes at you, chuckling.
“But hey, you know, if you really want to give it to her that bad, maybe you should try another approach.” You suggest.
“What do you mean?” His eyebrows scrunch up.
“Well, if going to a show didn’t help, maybe try.. A bolder approach? Like, you and Jason have that podcast, yeah? It’s pretty famous, famous enough to at
least have a lot of Taylor Swift fans also listening.”
“Okay… What’re you getting at?” He asks, unsure.
“Basically, what if you mention going to the show and the bracelet thing, as a joke? Fans would catch on, and believe me, swifties are crazy about this stuff. Maybe if it circulates enough, she might see it and.. Do you get where I’m going with this?”
He bites his lip, as if thinking. His tongue pokes his cheek and he lets out a sigh, as if considering if it was worth it. He was a little hesitant.
“You’re right, and I mean, it’ll probably help increase our listeners too. Oh my god, you’re a genius!”
His eyebrows lift up, a smile on his face now, and you think he’s imagining Taylor actually seeing it and contacting him. You let out a chuckle, proud of yourself and the idea you came up with.
Your plan had actually worked. Which was, unexpected to say the least.
It was supposed to be a joke, you didn’t think he would’ve actually gone along with it, but he did, and it had blown up. Your comments section was filled with people asking about Travis and Taylor and truthfully, you didn’t know how to answer them.
You couldn’t believe your brother was talking to the Taylor Swift, the one you had looked up to for about twelve something years now.
You wanted to ask him about it, about how she had found his number, about what they were talking about, but he wouldn’t give you answers.
You respected his privacy, of course, but a part of you was still very curious.
Another part of you wanted to talk to her too, but you were too nervous to ask your brother for her number, if he would even give it to you.
You weren’t famous– not celebrity famous. You had a youtube channel, and sure you had a lot of subscribers (which, you still couldn’t wrap your mind around why 200k+ people liked watching you talk about celebrities) but you weren’t a prominent public figure.
And he couldn’t just go around distributing Taylor’s number.
But, you didn’t have to wait long to meet Taylor.
She showed up to Travis’s next game.
Yeah.
She did.
The fans went crazy. You, sitting in Travis’s suite, watching the game, hadn’t realized yet. The first quarter was going on and you were focused on the scores, rooting for your brother, a drink in your hand.
The atmosphere tensed, everyone staring at the field in anticipation, as if time had frozen. Then, all of a sudden, cheers erupted around the field, and you jumped up, whooping as you embraced one of your friends.
Your brother had scored a touchdown, giving them a major point lead. You smiled and pulled out your phone, checking your notifications real quick.
As you scrolled through instagram, you came over one post that caught your eye.
“Taylor Swift arrives at the Chiefs game!"
That couldn’t be right..
You scrolled further down, pictures of her allegedly at the game popping up. That can’t be right, that’s the game you’re a–
“Oh, shit! Sorry, sorry, I wasn’t looking where I was goi-”
That was Taylor Swift.
You just bumped into Taylor Swift.
She was at the game. Right in front of you.
“Oh, it’s fine! I’m Taylor! You must be… Travis’s sister, right?”
You stood there, frozen. Whoever told her that information..
“Um, yeah. Yeah. Wait, how do you know?”
She chuckles and you feel your cheeks heat up, “Travis showed me pictures of you and Jason.”
You nod in realization, it making more sense to you.
You still couldn’t believe you were in front of Taylor Swift, the woman you had wanted to meet for so long. And that she was at your brother’s game.
“Wait, wait. Are you here for Travis?”
She nods, smiling as she puts her bag down. You both had made your way to the place where you were originally sitting. She didn’t know a lot of people there, so you decided to invite her to sit with you.
The people noticed very quickly that Taylor was in Travis’s suite. Many people sneakily tried to capture pictures of her, noticing all those cameras like she had a sixth sense.
You sat there, amazed at the person sitting next to you. You watched as she interacted with some of the fans there, took pictures through the glass and cheered for Chiefs.
You didn’t get to talk much, too occupied with the game as drinks were passed around.
Finally, the game came to an end, the stadium erupting in cheers as all of you in the suite stood up to scream along. The Chiefs had won.
Everyone hugged one another, taking shots for the win.
Taylor came back to where you were, now seemingly familiar with almost everyone in the room.
“Here, take my number.”
She says, sticking her hand out for your phone. Your hand reflexively gives her your phone, almost stunned that this interaction is even happening.
She smiles and winks at you, handing you your phone back before heading down, probably to the field for your brother.
You stand there, biting your lip, clutching your phone in your hand. You seem calm and composed but inside, your mind is racing.
Don’t do anything stupid. Be calm. Act normal.
Act normal. Act normal. Act normal.
You smiled to yourself, like an idiot. You had to stop yourself from squealing like the fangirl you were.
You have Taylor Swift’s number. You have the potential to text her.
You gaze down at the field, seeing Taylor embrace Travis. You smile at the sight of them, feeling incredibly proud of your brother.
You head down, embracing the team and your brother.
Taylor catches your eye, winking at you before heading out with Travis.
You didn’t know where they were going; didn’t care either.
You were just glad you had met her. And that your brother was finally moving on from his ex and finding someone new, even if it was the person that you’ve basically talked about almost every day for the past twelve years.
You smiled to yourself again.
The next day you wake up to so, so, so many notifications. You open up instagram and the first thing you see makes you chuckle.
“Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce seen together! Potential romantic feelings to be developed?”
“Travis Kelce takes Taylor Swift out, allegedly on a date?”
“Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are hitting it off!”
You scroll further down and realize there are pictures of you and Taylor interacting too. You scroll through them briefly before opening the comments.
“LMAOO LOOK AT HER SHE’S JUST LIKE ONE OF US AHAHA SHE’S SO SHOCKED”
“I’m SCREAMING she finally met mother!!”
“I’m literally so happy for her, I’ve been watching her talk about taylor for SO long”
“Oh to be her, look at her face, she looks like she’s about to pass out at any moment”
“Okay but what are the chances that she asked taylor about rep tv"
You snickered at the comments, realizing maybe you weren’t as calm and composed as you thought you looked. It was a little embarrassing but people all over the comments were congratulating you.
They were all very happy you finally got to meet Taylor, all seemingly admirers of your work on youtube. It made your heart beat faster, a stupid smile on your face as you recollected the interaction from yesterday.
You put your phone down, running your hands through your hair. You drag yourself out of bed, after all, it was Sunday.
It’s hard not to laugh at yourself when you look in the mirror with your morning hair. You liked keeping it not too long.
It didn’t get too heated, you could tie it up, and it didn’t take too long to fix. However, when you woke up, it did look like a bird nest, but that was natural.
Lazily, you pick up your toothbrush, continuing with your morning routine.
Today was going to be a chill day, not much chores to do, no work, nothing at all. You could just relax in bed and watch friends all day long…
“Guess what!”
You jumped, suddenly startling awake. You look behind in the mirror, “Travis?” You mumble, it comes out garbled because of the toothpaste.
“I went out with Taylor finally,” He starts, you nod in acknowledgement, you’d already known, it was already all over the news.
You look at him expectantly, as if knowing there was more to it just by the smile on his face.
“She’s coming over for dinner tonight.”
You spat your toothpaste out.
Choking a little, you rinse your mouth with water before exploding on him.
“You invited Taylor Swift for dinner!? Without even asking me?”
Travis snickered at your reaction, your eyes wide, the morning hair making you look even more hilarious to him.
“Relax, dude. It’s just for dinner. Mom and Jason already know, I thought I’d tell you.”
“Oh I’m going to kill you for the heart attack you just gave me.” You grumble out.
You throw him out of the bathroom, groaning as you look up at your reflection.
Taylor was coming over for dinner. You had to make an impression.
You let out a sigh, running your fingers through your hair, fixing it, calming yourself in the process.
