Work Text:
It was December 24th, Christmas Eve. Hansol usually celebrated Christmas with his family, but this year they were on a trip. He couldn’t join them because he had classes when they booked their travel dates, but he was okay. He was with Seungkwan.
They were at the church for the last mass of the nine-day novena. They were holding hands and listening to the ceremony as rain fell outside. It was a beautiful ending to the nine days of prayers.
When the mass ended, the rain stopped. People in the church started greeting each other with “Maligayang Pasko,” smiles on their faces. Seungkwan, holding Hansol’s hand, turned to him with a wide smile. "Maligayang Pasko," he said.
They left the church at huminto sa tabi para bumili ng bibingka before heading home. Seungkwan was full of stories as they walked. When they reached Seungkwan’s gate, Hansol stopped.
He saw Seungkwan’s family happily celebrating Christmas. They invited him to join them. Before Hansol did, he texted his family to wish them a Merry Christmas. Then, he joined Seungkwan’s family. The night might have been cold because of the rain, but Seungkwan’s house was warm, filled with the warmth of their welcome. Hansol felt like he belonged.
