It was a beautiful day in May, and Eren's graduation ceremony was being held at the school. Eren didn't really care about it. He transferred to the school in the middle of senior year and hadn't made a lot of friends compared to his old school. His old school already had their graduation ceremony, and he already celebrated with his friends there.
Eren’s own graduation ceremony just felt like a formality after all the prior celebrations. The thing Eren can't wait for is the beginning of college, he can finally be more independent. Eren was sitting in the section of graduating students and listening to the class valedictorian drone on and on about events that happened to the senior class in the past year. Half of which Eren missed, since he transferred in after the school year was half done. The anecdotes were apparently amusing to the student body, and the crowd responded appropriately with laughter and cheers during the right time.
Finally, it was time to hand out the diplomas, and Eren and the other students all lined up adjacent to the stage. Eren went to the middle of the line, while the two friends he managed to make in his short time at school went to the front of the line. The perks of having a last name that starts with an A. Thank goodness his family uses the J spelling for Jaeger, instead of the Y spelling, or else he would be stuck at the back of the line and wait even longer for the diploma.
The roll call for the diploma took seemingly forever, but Eren's name was finally called, and he walked across the stage to get his diploma. When he was lined up on the opposite side, he scanned the crowd and saw a familiar face. Levi finally arrived and was sitting in the back row of the auditorium. Eren excitedly waved to him, only to see both Levi and his parents wave back. Eren thought that he better think of an excuse to leave the graduation ceremony early, if he wants to spend time with Levi and have his parents be none the wiser about his relationship.

It turned out that Eren didn't have to bother with coming up with any excuses to his parents. After all the students got their diplomas, and they took enough pictures to be satisfied, Eren's dad needed to go back to the hospital for a meeting, and Eren's mom needed to return to mind her shop. Eren was used to this behavior from his parents, they were almost always too busy for him most of the time. But they at least made an appearance at his graduation, which is a lot better said than some of his friends' parents.
Levi sidled up to Eren as soon as his parents left the school and put his hands on Eren's waist. Eren's heart was pounding in excitement. They didn't have to go far, when Eren realized that Levi was pulling him into the nurse's office. That place was very familiar to Eren by now. He and Levi made frequent use of it after hours.
