Chapter 1: Huntress of The Emerald Forest

Chapter Text

Huntsmen.

Huntresses.

For generations, Huntsmen and Huntresses have defended the world of Remnant from the Creatures of Grimm. Risking life and limb for those in need, defending the defenceless; the shining beacon of hope in the darkness. The future generations of Huntsmen train at the prestigious Huntsmen Academies; where they hone their strength, power and knowledge to help them secure the future of their world.

Beacon Academy is no different. Standing tall at the centre of the city of Vale, for years it has produced many powerful Huntsmen who have all earned their place in history for their selfless deeds. With its state-of-the-art facilities, supportive staff and friendly atmosphere; it is an excellent choice for the aspiring Huntsmen to achieve greatness.

Oh, and don't forget the beautiful vistas! The view of Emerald Forest is simply to die for...

This was not the forest she was familiar with.

She had been wandering through the dark for what seemed to be days. The familiar sights and smells of The Realm dwindled as she continued forward towards the light. The old ruins and the ever-present rain and fog of The Red Forest was gone, replaced with the burning rays of the sun leaking through the bright green trees. How long has it been since she last saw the sun? Faint memories of her as a little girl rose up to the front of her mind, memories of her and her mother basking in its warmth. Memories of a life before the elk that took her mother from her, before the soldiers that invaded her home, before the Fog that engulfed her...

Anna took a step out of the shade and into the warm embrace of the sun, letting it wash all over her. For the first time in forever...

She was free.

The Huntress was broken out of her daze by the sound of thunderous roaring from above. A great flying machine blotting out her view of the sun, soaking her in shadows. Ducking out of sight and into the foliage, she watched as the flying machine descended and landed onto the forest floor. She observed as the machine opened up and two figures emerged from it. A grey-haired man with a cane in hand, and a blonde woman holding a strange device. They spoke amongst themselves, about students and performances and pieces, things she couldn't make sense of.

This wasn't right, this wasn't fair! She was supposed to be free! Alone! Safe...

Her attention turned to the edge of the forest clearing, as a strange red object bolted out from the trees, trailing rose petals as it went. Anna was bewildered as it transformed into a young girl with a massive scythe on her back. The girl turned and waved towards a group of other children who had just emerged from the trees, all of them were covered in bright colours and held strange weapons. Had they come for this forest? For HER home?

The children followed the two figures from before onto the machine, she took in their laughter, their joy... She hated it. Why couldn't she be left alone? She watched as the machine closed up again and flew back into the sky. Emerging from her cover, she watched as the machine flew towards a massive tower in the distance, she watched as it flew home...

They will come back. For her forest, for her home, for her freedom...

But The Huntress won't let them take it without a fight.
