Jason Pulls a Bruce Wayne

Summary:

Jason Todd was many things. A former Robin, a reluctant member of the Bat Family, an uncle to Mar'i and Lian, a former crime lord, an anti-hero known as the Red Hood. What he is not, is a father. Well, at least he wasn't until the Lazarus pits spit out a baby boy who looks remarkably a lot like he does, an ancient ghost who tells him that this baby is now his son and to keep him safe. Oh! And did he forget that the baby is the future Ghost King and has some type of Eldritch powers and he finds out that he was something called a Revenant?

Of course, he decided to lay low for a bit and not tell anyone he now had a kid whilst he sets the boy up with some papers, because how was he supposed to say that the baby was birthed by pit water? And oh look, Bruce and the rest of the Batfamily want to meet the new member of their family! Perfect. This wasn't how he expected his day to go when he woke up.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Jason Todd groaned as he woke up. He had a long night last night dealing with a bunch of league of assassins who'd decided to kidnap him and bring him back to their base.

He had fought them for over an hour before they'd gotten a cheap shit on him, he expected to wake up restrained, maybe Ra's Al Ghul standing over him menacingly for some reason or another.

Though Ra's typically had more of a fascination with Tim, or sometimes Damian still, seeing as the boy was technically still his heir, and Tim had interested him for a long time since he had outsmarted him.

What he didn't expect when he woke up was a bunch of brutally murdered corpses of assassins littering the floor, and the screaming of another assassin as green water that he remembered vividly as the Lazarus pit came to life and tore the assassin to pieces.

Okay... What the fuck?

Was his first reaction to seeing this. When could Lazarus water become sentient? And apparently it was murderous now.

Maybe he should've been more shocked when the pit water turned on him. He definitely expected to either have to fight the water, or die trying.

It's not like he hadn't died before. A dark part of his mind reminded him.

Before he shook that thought away as the pit water seemingly surrounded him. The chains around his body shuttered and creaked, corroding quickly before they were easily broken.<

The water lifted him up, and Jason closed his eyes and waited for the inevitable impact.

Only to be surprised as the water seemed to drag him towards the familiar pit where he'd been revived eight years ago.

The water gently sat him down, much to his shock, and retreated back into the pit.

Jason was confused. Why didn't the water attack him too?

That confusion turned to shock as the water tendrils thrummed and glowed, swirling with power, transforming into a vortex of glowing green sludge.

Jason only had to wait a few minutes, which felt like hours to his mind, seeing as he couldn't take his eyes away from the sight of the pit water, before the vortex stopped.

The water parted as a tendril cradled something and seemed to be trying to give him something.

On instinct, he reached out, like he couldn't control his own body, and the pit water gently discarded something into his hands, before seemingly losing all of its sentence and dropping back down into the pit. Completely still.

Jason looked down at what the water gave him and stilled as he saw that the fucking once sentient pit had dropped a baby into his hands!

What the fuck?

The baby was completely bare, as to be expected for a newborn, because the baby seemed to be just born from the waters, he was a tiny little shiny, dark locks of hair on his head, a small button nose, pouty lips, and slightly tanned skin.

He stared at the baby in complete shock, as the baby opened his eyes and startling cerulean blue eyes stared back at him.

Eyes that he vaguely remembered himself used to having before his death at the hands of the joker and subsequent rebirth at the hands of the pits.

Now his eyes were more turquoise than blue.

The baby blinked up at him, Jason blinked back.

A small chirp-like sound, like one would hear from a bird erupted from the baby.

Jason startled as he seemed to understand the chirp.

(Safe?)

Before Jason knew what was happening, he felt a rumble fall from his own throat.

(Yes, safe.)

What... What was that?

How could he understand the baby? Was the baby a metahuman?

But wait .. was he a metahuman?

The area around them seemed to grow cold.

A glowing green portal seemed to open up right in front of his face.

Jason's first instinct was to protect the baby in his arms.

To shield him from whatever was on the other side of that portal.

Except, for some reason, he didn't feel like whoever was on the other side of the portal was a threat.

A man stepped through the portal. He had blue skin, red eyes with a jagged scar over his right eye stepped out.

His torso seemed to house a clock in it.

A purple cloak thrown over his body.

He had no legs, but instead, a tail.

He seemed to float out of the portal, taking in his surroundings.

Before he stopped when he saw Jason and the baby in his arms.<

"Hello Jason Peter Todd-Wayne." The man said.

Jason tensed. How did this man know his name?

"Do not fret young man, I mean you no harm. In fact, I have come here to give you the answers you seek. Like who that baby is." The man said.

Jason looked at the man with critical eyes, judging his worth.

Before she nodded, he didn't need answers, and if the man made even a single step out of bounds towards the baby in his arms, he'd cut the bastard down.

He'd only spend at most, ten minutes with this baby, and he was already ready to kill for him.

And wasn't that saying something?

"Ah, well... My name is Clockwork, and I am the Ancient of Time. In your hands, is the most important person in all of the infinite realms. His name is Daniel, the future king of the infinite realms, or, in more simpler of terms, the Ghost King. And he is now your biological son. Welcome to Parenthood Mr. Todd-Wayne." Clockwork said.

Dropping the biggest bombshell of Jason's life. And the one that would forever change him.
