Chapter Text
Growing up in Makochi you had always been quite well known amongst the townspeople. You were friendly, open minded and generous but unfortunately you were a bit too selfless which led to your situation now, situated in front of a brown haired girl who you knew as Kotoha, trying to cover her and protect her as you glare at a gangster who you saw harassing the girl who was clearly very uncomfortable and uninterested.
“What was I thinking!?…”, you thought to yourself mentally face palming, keeping your stance, you didn’t know how to fight let alone defend yourself against a group of gangsters consisting of full grown men with weapons.
Still, you wanted to try and protect this girl, you couldn’t just watch one of your people get harassed by a group of thugs that clearly don’t know their place.
Your eyes dart in different directions hoping to spot a familiar green and black gakuran, damn it where were they!? You take a step backwards still trying to cover the girl you were protecting and hold your breath.
“A doll like you shouldn’t be getting into the business of a gang, ya know?”, the leader, you assume, says with a suggestive undertone you did not like at all. “But I wouldn’t mind if ya joined us pretty”, he smirks. You nearly gagged at the offer and you grit your teeth as your eye twitched in annoyance.
Suddenly a hand grabs at the guy's shoulder from behind. Your eyes widen and the corner of your lips twitch up in a smile recognizing the sleeve of the familiar gakuran. You knew you could count on them.
The leader of the gang whipped his head around to throw a punch to the bofurin student which the mysterious savior dodged gracefully with experience and packed a punch straight to the guys face. This ended up triggering the whole gang who all attacked the teenager in sync. You watched in awe as the guy took down each gang member one by one until all of them were left on the ground in pain.
Your and Kotoha's mysterious saviour walks up to the beaten up form of the leader. He puts his hand on his knees slightly crouching while staring down at the guy. “What's wrong with your head to make you think that you're strong but your not?”, he delivers nonchalantly.
He lifts the beaten up "man” by his collar. "Drill my name and face into your skulls, tell the weak to run, tell the strong how to find”, he basically threatens.
"I am Sakura Haruka from Furin high!”, he boasts smugly.
It was honestly a bit corny but he basically saved you and the brunette behind you so you put that aside as you and the short haired girl watched in shock.
The guy, Sakura, you now knew him as put his hands in his pockets as he walks away from you and Kotoha.
"Wait!", Kotoha jogs up to the guy and so do you. "Hey! Wait I said!", the brunette shouts when the guy keeps walking. “Thank you”, she expressed in grateful gratitude. “Yeah, it was pretty sick to be honest”, you follow up with a hearty laugh trying to ease some tension.
The guy looks around and then at you and the short haired girl pointing a finger at himself, "Wait, me?", he asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Do you… See anyone else?”, Kotoha deadpans as you follow up with a nod.
His face explodes with all different shades of red. “I d-didn’t do it to save you guys! Those guys pissed me off, is all!”, he shouts, trying to brush it off and act cool. It was kinda adorable seeing him deny it while visibly flustered, but who knows? Maybe it really was just the guy's attitude that put him off, you wouldn’t blame him anyway.
“About that… Are you hungry?”, Kotoha asks the Furin student, tilting her head to the side.
"Huh!? No, I'm not!”, the guy states, turning away to hide his flustered face.
“Hey, there's actually a cafe where this pretty lady, Kotoha works! We could pay you back with some food, it's the least we could do for you since you practically saved our lives”, you offer completely disregarding the statement he had just said before.
——
And that's how you found yourself and Sakura seated in Cafe Pothos with Kotoha making omurice to serve you and the monochrome haired teenager next to you.
The brunette places both plates of delicious omurice in front of you and Sakura. You don't wait to dig into your food, you were so hungry after that.
"You're not from here are you Sakura?”, Kotoha questions as your and Kotoha's saviour flinches. "No wonder I've never seen you around”, the brunette asserts.
"Yeag me neither haha, I was actually quite confused on why I didn't recognize you and got a bit worried that I forgot a face”, you admit chuckling to yourself awkwardly.
"It's pretty rare for anyone to come to this town”, Kotoha admits and you nod. "That's why I just assumed I forgot someone haha”, you giggle.
"You think I'm some weirdo”, Sakura assumes, face expressionless.
"No no, we weren't saying there was something wrong with you”, Kotoha brushes off denying the accusation.
"It's just that until recently, this team or that gang was always going at it and public safety was near zero, normal people all steered clear”, She informs and you nod, stuffing your mouth with more rice.
"But I'm one to talk, I'm not originally from here either”, she admits smoothly.
"Name's Tachibana Kotoha, nice to meet you”, she introduces and greets. "And that girl over there eating like she's been starved for the past decade is L/N Y/N”.
Sakura looks over at you as if to see if that's really your name and you nod in affirmation.
Sakura remains speechless as he stares at you and Kotoha as if in deep thought.
"What, not going to eat? Do you not like omurice?”, Kotoha questions the guy in front of her.
"I'm eating! Look, I'm eating it now!”, the guy replies with an annoyed undertone as he spoons a spoonful of rice and omelet and shoves it in his mouth.
You watch the guy as you take the last spoonful of your own serving of omurice and you giggle when you see his reaction to the flavourful dish. Kotoha's omurice was always the best.
"Does this store do take-off?”, the guy questions, stuffing more of the delicious rice and egg into his mouth.
"Huh? You mean take-out?”, you and Kotoha correct in sync. "No”, Kotoha deadpans.
"O-oh you don't”, the guy repeats avoiding eye contact, blush on his face visible.
“That aside, you sure do look unique”, The brunette girl mentions and your eyes widen.
"Tachibana-san, you don't just say that to anyone! Especially a guy that can easily take down 5 full grown men!”, you half shout in embarrassment.
"How many times do I have to tell you to just call me Kotoha? And also it's not like it's anything bad”, the short haired girl states rolling her eyes.
"Well you're not wrong anyway… Kotoha”, you sigh looking anywhere but at the guy next to you.
Kotoha turns back to the Furin student in front of her.
"One side's all different colours you don't dye or use contacts do you?", Kotoha asks curiously.
"Huh? You got a problem with…?”, the guy questions her with a threatening undertone.
Kotoha leans in closely towards the guy, "Wow… It's like a marble…”, she admires in awe.
"Hah? Let me see Kotoha!”, you say grabbing the guy by his shoulders to take a look for yourself. "Woah! You're right Kotoha! They really do look like marbles!”, you compliment just above a whisper.
"Eye come in this colour?”, Kotoha asks. The guy takes a few seconds to process the situation before instinctively jumping back out of nowhere with his fists in the air in a fighting stance which shocked you and your brunette friend.
"What, you wanna go!?”, the guy yells at both you and Kotoha.
"Don't snap on us”, Kotoha deadpans.
"You're weird, most people get grossed out or tell me to change it”, Sakura admits. Damn, this guy really needed a hug.
"Nah, I'm used to seeing worse”, Kotoha affirms, “Like this”, the girl demonstrates with her hands placed against each other in a straight position facing upwards as she moves them front and back.
"Is that why…?”, Kotoha suddenly comes to realize something.
"Looks don't matter in a fight”, Sakura informs coldly.
"That's… Why I came to Furin…”
