Yes, this is an update. And yes, it has the same title as the previous fic, but it’s not the same fic.
I've picked up (rewritten) this story because I intend to give it a proper ending. So, if you followed me through Instinct, you'll notice that Pursuit (the first part) is very similar to the previous Instinct , but at the same time, it's different.
If you feel like continuing this journey with me, I recommend you approach Pursuit with a blank slate and read it as if it's the first time. The events might seem familiar, but the scenes have changed because the characters have changed too. They've evolved, just as I have, and as you probably have over these years. Besides Milo, Hyoga, and Aioria, you’ll see some new additions (original characters) who were necessary to enrich the plot. You’ll meet the two butlers of Aquarius and Leo, and Scorpio’s maid, who will support the adventures of this group of characters who have given us so much joy (and frustration). In the best way possible, of course.
I’ve rewritten everything I could use from the previous Instinct until I reached a point where the story diverges into a different future. I realized that the Milo from the previous fic was so broken that it was impossible to bring him back, so I either had to leave it unfinished or rewrite it. For a long time, I stood on the Five Peaks of Fanfiction, watching the waterfall, until the new generation arrived at Rozan and pulled me out of my lethargy.
I don’t have enough words to thank Macaria for knocking on my door. You gave me the final push to pick up this project again, and you’ve filled this headcanon with amazing illustrations and designs, bringing to life the documents that accompany these poor characters we only know how to make suffer. I could try to find the right words, but none would fully express my gratitude. Plus, you brought along the Secret Sanctuary (Limo, SaintGayer, Amara and now, Alpha and Abyss), who have welcomed me as just another fangirl, where I can recharge and enjoy this hobby like I did in the early years of my journey. To all of you, thank you so much. I hope you suffer and bleed as much as I do because that's why we're on AO3, aside from the smut, right?
And last but not least, I want to thank S. Kapteinen for keeping faith in me all these years and traveling with me towards the end of Instinct , always offering me countless ideas to help me work my magic. I only have words of gratitude for you for all those games, all those hours of fun, and those incredible plots. Your mind is amazing, and I’ll always be in awe of it. You’re such an inspiration. Plus, you’ll always be the Isaak to my Kanon and the Camus of all my Milos.
