Chapter Text
“America ? Miss Heywood, so far from Sanditon ! Mary, Sidney, what can we do ?”
A stunned Tom Parker shook his head. An obstinate Charlotte responded. “I’m not part of your family. I must forge my own path. My uncle, in Baltimore, has offered me an opportunity.” Sidney, his jaw tight, his expression sad, his body tense, remained silent. Mary embraced Charlotte.
“We will miss you, my dear.”
Following a heartrending farewell on the clifftops, in front of the carriage, Sidney murmured to himself.
“Have a good trip, Miss Heywood. Be happy. One day I’ll be able to finish the conversation I owe you. I would happily cross the ocean to find you again.”
