Trainer halted - that was the ugliest pokemon he had ever seen. Vascular, spiculated. The red orb of the unknown pokemon slithered along the normal countryside road. It made eye contact.
The wild pokemon attacked!
Trainer immediately pulled out his pokedex and read: 'Stage IV NSCLC, the lung cancer pokemon. It is gluttonous and invades normal tissue. This regional variant is L858R positive.'
He took a deep breath. Many have heard of this monster, but hoped they would not encounter it. Or at least, in it's more benign stage I-III form.
It seemed his luck had run out. This would be the battle of his life.
'Osimertinib I choose you!'
'Os-osim' cheeped Aura the Osimertinib. Trainer allowed himself a smile at his enthusiastic friend - she has just evolved from Tarceva and gained a power boost, especially in brain control - hopefully it was enough.
'Osim, use target therapy!'
'Ooosim!'
It was super effective!
The battle continued. Osim had the upper hand until turn 18.9, when NSCLC used Transform and then Double Team. Osim fainted.
Trainer cursed - he should have opened with Osimertinib plus chemotherapy, as he has recently learned in Flaura 2. Or if only he has caught Lazertinib and Amivantamab in Butterfly town... He shook his head, ignoring the dread that he had doomed himself and his pokemons. It was useless to regret now.
Trainer rescanned with his pokedex and did a NGS. No new exploitable weakness. Not good.
'Atezo, Beva, Taxol, Carbo go!'
The four pokemons cried out together. Trainer wasted no time to command.
'Use pledge move!'
As the four have trained multiple times before, their attack fused and strengthened. The combined might of chemotherapy, target therapy and immunotherapy synergised into a powerful light - IMpower 150 would be in effect for 9.7 turns.
NSCLC seemed hardly fazed by the assault. Any initial effectiveness faded over time. Did NSCLC has Protean or was it Reflect Type? Even worse, NSCLC seemed to have caught the latest GameFreak trend of rolling two abilities into one - It got moody boost too! How? Trainer could not believe his eyes as the cancerous pokemon grew stronger and stronger each turn.
His trusty quadruple combination fainted after putting up a valiant fight. In desperation, Trainer sent out Alimta.
'Trex-Trex- ' whined Alimta the Pemetrexed, he could sense the stake here from his trainer's voice, growing hoarse with vocal cord palsy.
'Peee~ ' Alimta fired off an antifolate Hyperbeam. But he missed. By now NSCLC had gained too much evasion boost. RNG was never on their side. They were scripted to lose.
'Alimta dodge it!' Trainer cried. He was getting shortness of breath as was his last pokemon. He was drowning in despair and pleural effusion. Alimta dodged the Counter but not the subsequent Growth. His mind was slowing - radiotherapy giving him little respite from the brain assault Confusion.
Alimta fainted.
Trainer whited out.
