Chapter Text
it had been a decade. an entire decade since i was tasked with protectin' the sea. why was i choosen? i ponder, starin' up at the moon for hours on end. that damned sky orb still reminds me of him. memories of us together always resurface whenever im starin' at that thing, it's like it knows i miss him. i always get this feelin' too, whenever im starin' at it. it's like it's tryna comfort me in some fucked up way.
"...how long has it been since i first came up here?" i didnt expect an answer, the crashing waves of the ocean drowning out whatever i say. it was a comforting noise, really. only sometimes it got annoyin'.
footsteps.
"it's been an entire day, Old." idate. i didnt expect him to show up.
"..you followed me, didnt you?" i didnt turn around, the grip on my staff tightenin'.
"i only followed your scent, dont worry 'bout it." he said, his voice soundin' like nails on a rock.
i didnt say anything. i didnt need to, it was like he knew already.
a hand got placed on my shoulder, my shoulder now being gently squeezed. the extra eyes on my tail glared at him.
"y'know, i'm always here for you if ya need me." he said, his arm being wrapped around me.
i leaned into him, a small sob slipping out of my mouth. i tried holding back the tears. i buried my face into his chest, gripping onto his shirt with my free hand. his arms wrapped around my body, one of his hands reaching up to stroke my head. i hated this feelin', the feelin' of being so vunerable yet not being able to do anything about it. i felt so weak like this.
"ya wanna go back now?" he asked me, still holding me close. i nodded, looking up at him with my face stained with tears. he moved his hands to mine, gently pulling me back into the water.
"i can tell you havent been slepeping much Old. once we get back, you should go to bed." i didnt say anything back to him, my eyes focused on his tail.
i didnt object to anything as he brought me back, putting me in different clothes before putting me in bed. i stared at him. he didnt say anything else, just layed down next to me and hugging me.
i couldnt sleep. i had a nagging feeling in the back of my mind. the feeling wouldnt go away either, it was like a parasite, eating away at my thoughts untill i couldnt think anymore. i let out a soft groan, squeezing my eyes shut and rolling onto my side. i tried ignoring it. it still wouldnt go away.
i opened my eyes, a blueish, transperant figure standing infront of me. he smiled, reaching out to touch my cheek. his hand was oddly warm, way to warm for a ghostly figure. i looked up at him, my eyes struggling to reconize him. it was like i knew him, his stupid features being way to familiar yet way to strange at the same time. i hated it. he kept that stupid smile on his face, knealing down and laying his head next to mine. the only thing i could do was stare. i heard him say something, his words becoming a jumbled mess as i finally managed to drift off into a restless slumber.
