Chapter Text
Its been years since the Justice League was first established, but no matter how many years pass, the monthly meetings they have never get any less boring or shorter.
It had already been a busy day for the core members. First, they had stopped Luther's latest plan against Superman. Then an alien invasion that took hours. Now, after only getting an hour break to eat and rest, the seven members were now in the Watch Tower for a meeting.
Flash has used his break to grab a late lunch before the meeting, but only 45 minutes in the meeting and he was starting to get fidgety and hungry again. Don't get him wrong, he was trying to pay attention and not fall asleep as he listened to Clark talk, but it was so boring.
Looking around the table, Barry saw Green Arrow looked close to falling asleep in his seat across the table. Arthur looked a bit tired too, but he wasn't surprised that him and Diana were still focus on the meeting. Leaning over to Green Lantern a bit too when he saw Hal was scribbling on his papers. After, he looked to Batman, but didn't look long. Only enough to notice Batman was looking over some case fields during the meeting with a small fuzzy head sticking out of his cape.
'...What?'
Barry had to do a doubt take, but sure enough he saw a small pair of ears and snoot sticking out of Batman's cape. Cause of the angle, when he looked around the table, it didn't seem like anyone else noticed that creature.
He didn't even realize he was staring as the creature looked over to him too. Blinking a few times as Flash tilted his head to the side curious. He couldn't help but find the creature cute as it mimicked him. Barry tried tilting his head slightly to the other side and smiled when it copied him again. This time tho, he saw their ears poke out from under the black material as if more brave to come out. Now getting a better look, the creature looked tiny against Batman, but the blueish gray fur being enough of a contrast to the black cape to see.
'.... Is-.. Is that a bat?'
Almost as if they could read his thought, the bat gave a wide grin at him. Barry just barely noticing the tiny fangs they had.
Flash wouldn't admit it, but it took him quite awhile to notice that Batman was staring at him now. He quickly buried his face in the papers in front of him to hide from the Bat-glare. Waiting a bit before daring to look over to see if Bats was still glaring. Seeing that he wasn't, Flash looked back to where the actual bat was.
Having lose the speedsters attention, the small bat now seemed to be looking at the papers Batman was holding too. 'Is he reading the papers too?'
"Is something wrong, Flash?"
Flash jumped, startled. Looking quickly to Supes and now feeling a bit awkward as the other members at the table turned to look at him too. "N-no. Just thought I saw something." He gave an apologetic smile. Not showing it but relieved when Superman didn't push it and resumed the meeting.
When the others went back to their own papers too, Flash tried to be more secretive with his glances. Trying to hide his face as he looked over just in time to see Batman look down at the bat.
It took a moment for the bat to look up from the papers to the dark knight as if not caring for the stare and wanted to finish reading first. If it wasn't the Batman, Barry wouldn't be as surprised as he was when the gray bat only stuck its tongue out in response to the bats stare.
Barry wasn't sure he heard it correctly as the creature gave a small offended chirp when Batman poked their snoot back under his cape. He was sure someone else must have heard that at least. Right?... Looking around at the others, if they did hear it too, it didn't seem like it.
Once the meeting was adjourned, Batman was one of the first to leave first as he never stuck around long after meetings.
Flash was about to get up and follow after to see if all he saw was real, but instead got startled as he felt a hand on his shoulder.
Green Lantern didn't move his hand off his shoulder tho after seeing his reaction. "What's got you so on edge?" He originally asked jokingly, but grew concerned when Flash didn't immediately say anything and instead looked around the room again.
Seeing as Batman wouldn't possibly come back soon, Barry gestured Hal to lean over. "Did you see it?"
"See what? Why are you whispering?"
"What if Batman hears." While Flash knows the bat isn't as scary and intimidating as most people actually think, he is still scary and flash isn't fully sure still have Batman seems to know everything and suddenly appear as if out of thin air.
"What does this have to do with Spooky?"
"This is going to sound crazy!.. But I think I saw a bat during the meeting."
"Well yeah. Spooky is quiet and hard to keep track of unless he wants to be noticed, but-"
"No! I mean an actual bat."
"... Its getting pretty late. Maybe you should head back and get some rest."
"I'm serious! I saw a small bat poking out of Batman's cape!"
Green Lantern looked at the Flash with growing confusion. "So what are you saying? Spooky has a pet bat at brings around?"
Saying it out loud, Barry had to admit it sounded crazy. As the two thought more about it and talked more, the idea of Batman possibly having bats that he has trained to fight started to seem more plausible.
