Summary:

PROMPT: mutual pining
FEATURING THE CHARACTERS: Aaron Burr (Hamilton), Charles ii (Horrible Histories), Tooley (Made in Dagenham the Musical)
WRITERS: rawr, scissors, carmain, rook, potato, grass

Aaron Burr and Charles II of England have been secretly in love with each other for some time. Tooley, being their mutual friend and a hater, is sick of their nonsense. At one of Charles' parties, Burr is feeling brave. If Hamilton can seize the moment, why can't he?

Written by 6-ish unhinged mostly theater kids. What could go wrong?

Notes:

most of us were in a production of "Made in Dagenham," hence the character Tooley. you don't need to know much other than he's aggressively American, like all the patriotism of Hamilton condensed into 1 person, and he's an American executive of Ford.

Work Text:

"Burr are you coming to Charles's party tonight?" asked Tooley "you know it's rare for him to give out a personal invite like that"

"I don't know I mean was it really meant for me? you know Alexander is closer with him" Aaron replied

"yes it was meant for you he told me himself, why else would he do that other than him wanting you to be here?" Tooley sighed, he's been trying to get the two together for the last who knows how long, after Aaron broke up with John Laurens because he confessed his love to Alexander, introducing Charles and Burr to each other was either his biggest or worst achievement, seeing the way the two of them look at each other it's painful. Almost as painful as when the Ford women went on strike, god he hated Britain bunch of f*ggots, but anyway the point is, Charles and burr were what you called 'love at first sight' except it wasn't love it was more they looked at each other and were plotting on their respective downfalls which then turned into both of them getting so drunk they kissed and now there is this awkward tension between them. Tooley knew, he always knew. But who was he to lock them in a room till they admitted it, he was only the best friend of both the parties.

"Come let's get you looking snazzy. I'll be here if you want as company" tooley persisted, still trying to enlighten Aaron.
Time passes and theyre getting ready to drive off. "Do you think Charles is going to look good? Do you think he'll get a lor of attention?" Questioned tooley.
"You'll be fine stop overthinking it. And go up to him when he's free, he'll most definitely have a chat with you."
Most of the drive was silent, Aaron's leg bouncing up and down. How does he not see the signs that he's in love. Well tonight might push things just that little bit forward.

"Oh its so busy in here" says tooley in awe of the house Charles' party was being hosted at. "Yeah..." whispered Aaron.
"Look you got this okay? I'll be back in the car. This is your party, not mine. Call me if you need. Now go have a drink and have fun."
"See you soon i guess"

As soon as Burr stepped through the front door, the loud booming sound of a harmonica drifted to his ears. He recognised that sound. He knew whose hands would be playing such a sweet tune. Somewhere, deep down, he felt a surge of anxiety, not knowing how he could walk into that room and keep his cool when Charles, of all people, would be there.

But then he remembered Tooley’s words, and they sobered him enough to step through the threshold of the door.

Without warning, a throng of people entered his field of vision. It took Aaron a moment to regain his senses, being overwhelmed by all that surrounded him, but once his mind cleared, one thing was certain. He had to get to Charles.

One by one, he slowly began to move to the front of the crowd. He anticipated having to use more force, but they seemed to part like the Red Sea, moving out of his way effortlessly. Aaron’s heart began to beat faster than it ever had before, and he tried to ignore it as he got closer to the front.

But then, it was too late. He was at the front, and nearly face to face with Charles. The sound of the harmonica stopped as the latter turned towards Aaron.

“Hi.”

“Hi.”

Neither could read the emotions in the other’s eyes. But they both knew they needed to go somewhere else.

“Nice…party” Aaron mumble awkwardly, looking everywhere but Charles. “You have a lovely house”

Charles nodded, grabbing a hold on the bible and giving it to him. “thank you” he said, as he moves closer, his hands reaching to tuck his hair behind his ear. “You look lovely by the way” he said, before passing through, their shoulders touching, making Aaron’s heart to beat as his ass to clench. Blushing madly as he watched Charles leave the room, “I hate to see you go but I love to watch you walk away” he whispered to himself, taking a  bite of the book as he followed towards the kitchen.

“Tea and biscuits?” Charles asked as he passed him a cup. “No thank you, unconscious people don’t want tea” Aaron responded, wanting chicken nuggets instead. “But thank you for asking…” he mumble, they continue to star at each other for a while, a pregnant pause filled the room.
“So…umm” Aaron started.

“Tv r cry c hvttfhrftghtgthrfgvhgyjdxdcgbgnth”

Aaron cleared his throat. "right. i, er, i came here with an ulterior motive, I can't lie, sir."

Charles II laughed. "please, you can call me Charlie, Burr."

Burr smiled. "then you can call me Aaron."

Charlie smiled in return. "Alright, Aaron. well, what did you want to tell me?" he asked, sipping his painfully british tea.

Aaron's heart started beating like mad. he coughed again. "oh. i. right. well. so. i just--" he sighed. no time like the present. he could be shot tomorrow. he couldn't throw away this shot now. "i wanted to ask... if you liked me and maybe wanted to go out with me? because i really like you, and i have for a while and i promise youre not a rebound, but i wante--"

aaron was cut off by the king of england kissing him, standing on his tip-toes to do so. his facial hair tickled, and aaron wasn't opposed.

as charlie pulled away, aaron's eyes fluttered open to see a lovestruck look. "i've liked you a long time, too. is saturday okay?"
