So! Introducing Phasmophobia Inc.! A company that specializes in the reporting, identification, and disposal of ghosts and ghouls of all kinds. As such there are different departments for each section (R.I.D)
The Report or information department specializes in collecting and reviewing cases sent in by the public and their own researches. They determine the location and identity of the ghost.
Once this has been determined it is sent over to the Identification department. The identification department will be our prime focus as they are the department the gameplay is based on. Identification deals with going on site for an extended period of time and using various equipment to determine the nature of the ghost.
When the nature is established, this info is sent to the disposal department, who goes in the actually get rid of the ghost and finish the case.
So that covers the company. But what about the ghosts? Now this I actually had fun thinking about when it came to the technicals and execution of a ghosts ability. Now for the majority of the different kind of ghosts, their powers stay the same, I have no reason to change that. The two things I had to determine were sanity and hunts
So I imagine spirits have an area of effect, which usually only applies to the location they are inhabiting. This area of effect is essentially like the ghosts’s domain. They can do things in this area that they can’t do outside of it
Like effect a persons’s insanity. Making them mentally unstable, causing them to get irritable, have hallucinations, or impair their cognitive functions. Even cursed objects
There is a medication to combat this in game, but sometimes the crew members have to weaponize their lack of sanity to get the information they need
This theory also applies to getting caught in a hunt. Now in game you would normally just drop dead. But I can’t just have crew members dying on me back and forth! So I decided to edit this a bit.
When you’re caught in game, the ghosts hands come around your head near your eyes, and slam into you. So I like to imagine that similar to sanity, the ghosts directly influence the brain and nervous system. Now that they have direct contact with the victim, they can do a lot more.
They can cause a temporary death. When a cremate is caught by a ghost during a hunt, it causes a separation of the spirit from the body. The physical body collapses and for a temporary amount of time, the heart stops. Now we have things like communicating with ‘dead’ members through said members picking up items and such
Just like in game
The length of time that the spirit is separated from the body varies from which ghost attacks you. If it’s something like a shade then it’s only for about 30 minutes to an hour. But if it’s something like a demon, then it can be as long as 6-7 hours. Which can make it more dangerous because of how long the body has been out of commission
As long as the spirit stays within close range of the body, and the body is taken care of, then eventually the two will merge back together and be ‘brought back to life’
This also ties into the area of effect. When the crew leaves the location, the farther away they get means the faster the spirit can reconnect with their body.
It’s a scary process especially if you fuck it up, but it normally ends up fine. It can be very dangerous for those with health issues however. Because sometimes the body is not strong enough to reconnect with the body. Hence why the ghosts try to lower your sanity and impair you
Also decided that when caught in a hunt, a person’s veins glow like a light blue before they collapse. No reason for adding this, I just think it looks cool.
I also wanna include another aspect of the hunts. When you get caught you see an image of the ghost in a room twitching and convulsing, so I imagine that the ghost shows you that image to keep you still with fear when they separate the spirit from the body

So phasmophobia inc. is a company that specializes in the hunting, identification, and disposal of ghosts and ghouls of all kinds

The department we will focus on is the identification department. After finding the location and often identity of the ghost, the info is send over to identification where the teams will go to the assigned location. Using their equipment they will determine the nature of the apparition. This info is later sent to the disposal department.
GIGSS is the team we’ll be tuning in with. The two veterans of the team are Imp and Skizz, who after their own trials and tribulations have become masters of their crafts. As such they’ve been tasked with training new employees for the identification department.
They were assigned this task because of one man by the name of Grian. A transfer from the UK branch. While he’s a newbie who often has to eat icecream to stay awake, (grian actually does this since it’s night in the UK when they play) he has an innate sense for identifying the type of ghost early on.
After about a month of working, a new employee joins their team: Gem. She’s easily spooked, but a great asset to the team with her sassy personality. She often stays in the van to report the rest of the team’s sanity, guide them through the location, and check the cameras. She’s teased for it, but they would get nowhere without her.
But what about scar? The sweet baby? How does he join our lovable crew?
One day the crew gets passed a case that was submitted by a charming cat owner in a wheelchair (for this au scar is still sick but not as bad. So he can use a cane but prefers the wheelchair and occasionally needs oxygen or has fatigue)
His house is haunted! And his cat Jelly has not been happy about it
The crew does have a brief meeting with him so see if he has any information that can help the investigation, but that’s about it for their first meeting.
Scar and Grian get along well during their short chat but there had been no development in the relationship yet
But like a month later or so, the crew receives a new intern. And who is it but the charming cat owner Scar. Only an intern as his sickness leaves him out of commission often and he’s still learning the trade.
It’s during this era of spending time together sleep deprived and in cramped quarters and grian and scar’s relationship developes. Much to the amusement of gem and skizz, and the obliviousness of imp
I feel like the identification department is definitely the most dangerous department to be in.
Information just handles finding locations and who the ghost is, they never go on sight
Disposal goes on sight and definitely deals with a more agro ghost but they have the means to get rid of the ghost
Identification is on sight for an extended amount of time with no knowledge about what the ghost is and often times their crewmates drop ‘dead’ in the process of investigating

They have a cat bed set up for Jelly under the desk in the van. Occasionally she sleeps on the keyboard or tries to bat equipment onto the floor (skizz helps her)
They have a mic in the van and occasionally jelly will try to talk to them through it. So they’re out here working and they just hear
“Mrrow”
Through their radios
Of course they immediately play into this
“Jelly, what’s our sanity at?”
“Mrrow”
“Okay, thank you jelly.”

“Jelly no one is in the van right now and we’re lost you’re gonna have to guide us back with the map.”
“Mrrow.”
“Yeah the one on the wall.”
“Mrrroooowwww nyelm nyelm.”
“Cool! She said to go right!”
Grian’s cats too Like after a job imp and skizz go to drive the kids (grian and gem— yes they actually call them phas dads on stream) home and jelly insists on getting out of the van with grian
So they’re like “wha— is there like a ghost in his house?”
But jelly can tell grian has cats
So they open the van door and jelly zooms out, scratches at Grian’s door, and he opens it. And she struts her way in to find his cats.
And next thing they know jelly is walking back out, two cats behind her, and they all go into the van.
Now they just have a cat night care buisness

Scar x Grian in phasmo tho. Cause I imagine like scar is an intern (considering how little he plays with them) and he’s in training or something. And it’s just scar being a sunshine boy and grian being down bad
Ft. Gem skizz and imp like “awwww” except their all sassy when they play phasmo so it’s just them teasing him for it
There was an adorable scene of when scar saw a ghost for the first time and just went
“Wh- what do we do? Can we shoot it?”
And grain genuinly laughed so hard for like a straight minute going “you will never hear a more American response! You see a ghost in your living room and you ask “can we shoot it?” haha!”
Like just adorable ghost researchers having crushes on eachother
Plus the amount of gay coincidences we can have with them hiding in the same place (most normally a cramped closet)

So I do like the idea of scar and grian often being paired together like they are in streams because grian is there to help monitor scar’s health in case he gets targeted during a hunt
Not to mention the two often end up hiding in the same place so it’s cute
At one point they had a conversation where scar was talking and grian was like “shut up!” Cause the ghosts can hear you talking during a hunt.
So I just imagine them in like a closet or something, grian glaring scar down while covering his mouth with his hand
And cause it’s funny to imagine grian being a head shorter so he’s not very intimidating from scar’s perspective
Grian having a major crush and expresses it by taking care of scar and being around him, but is very quiet about it. He’ll walk into hell and fight ghosts everyday but he’ll companion the entire time because he doesn’t want to admit to liking scar
Scar also having a major crush and is just the cuddliest guy ever and believes grian is the prettiest cutest most amazing boy ever
Both are utterly oblivious
Gem is delighted watching all of this unfold. I feel like scar is very open about having a crush on grian like
“Gem! What do I do!?”
Meanwhile grian is just like
“Tell him and I’ll kill you in the next hunt myself.”
Imp and Skizz are just in the back vibing and being phasmo dads making sure they all stay alive and that they actually do their job

Grian getting caught in a hunt and just collapsing in scar’s arms would be adorable
I do also really like the idea of grian being a transfer from the UK branch since everyone else is American lmao
The van is also a fun place to think about. Like how does the way it’s set up and its decorations reflect the crew.
Of course we have the in game stuff, so against the front of the container is the desk, keyboard, and monitors. The technical equipment.
On one side of the wall is a pin board and several more monitors that display the information of the case, the map, sanity, and activity.
Across from that is the huge metal grate that holds all their investigating equipment.
I also like that even within game the van is decorated for Halloween and the holidays, so I like to think of the crew taking the time to decorate the van in their free time.
Under the desk is a small mini fridge that holds things like water, snacks, and icecream for grian. They also have a cat bed under there for when the felines sneak onto the van (they gave up trying to get rid of them)
In the corner, pinned to the wall, are a series of Polaroid photos that imp started taking every time a new member joined (which fits cause he often takes the pictures in game)
There’s one of imp and Skizz, another when when grian joined, then gem, then scar, and then a beauty shot of the cats lmao
They have the snowball shooting gun from the Christmas decorations year round cause it’s skizz’s favorite thing
But like this phasmo au is so freaking cute like grian was trying to do spirit box and scar’s response was adorable.
“Are you here?”
“Yes, and I’ll leave.”
The idea of imp and Skizz training new employees also fits cause occasionally they play with jojo or joker and teach them the game. So it fits!!

During a hunt grian can and will grab scars hand and drag him off to somewhere safe
Grian is the type not to notice that he was holding scar’s hand till after the fact
Scar noticed right away and was freaking out
When grian is on the job, he is On. The. Job.
But afterwards when they’re in the van you can just see him sitting there and suddenly it’s Poof! And he’s super flustered seemingly out of nowhere
Gem was timing how long it would take him to notice
Grian often being sleepy on the job so after all the adrenaline is gone, him and scar are just sitting on the floor in the van, and Grian falls asleep on scar’s shoulder.
Like c’mon now that would be so cute
I feel like grian would be a lot more confident as a ghost because they can’t exactly see him. So when grian gets caught in a hunt he just fucks with scar. Messing with his hair or poking him. They head back in the van with Grian’s body (Skizz phasmo dad carried him) and it’s like
“Grian? Buddy you in here too?”
*scar’s hair suddenly getting messed up.*
“Yep. He’s here.”
Scar pretends to be annoyed, really he’s only doing that because if he didn’t then he would be too flustered to function
When scar is a ghost he tends to just explore cause he’s not physically limited by his illness. So he just has some fun.
Or he’ll just like hold onto Grian’s sleeves or collar and let himself get dragged around wherever
Okay but that one clip from some movie I saw but it’s scar and gem. Like grian is looking over equipment and noticed scar arrived. So of course he turns to look over and does a little wave with a smile. Scar waves back and it’s just a little greeting.
But during that entire thing gem is next to scar going
“He’s moving in slow motion isn’t he?”
“Yep.”
“Rose effect?”
“Yep.”
“You’re a lost cause.”
“Absolutely.”

Scar doesn’t say anything cause he doesn’t want to make grian uncomfortable, and grian just doesn’t know how to say anything
Both are down bad, both think the other doesn’t like them
Scar figures it out first but doesn’t say anything cause again he doesn’t want to make grian uncomfortable. But he does get more bold now that he has this information
I feel like scar doesn’t figure this out by gem telling him, or overhearing a conversation. It’s a slow and steady realization. The touches, the laughs, every time grian averts his gaze or is pressed close to him in a confined space. The way he only seems to mess with scar as a ghost, or his genuine worry when scar is caught in a hunt.
And I imagine one day they’re just talking. Nothing special, nothing important. Just a talk like any other day and suddenly scar is standing there going “Oh.”

so this would be before grian finds out right, but after scar knows. And I just had the greatest idea for a scene
So one case, scar get’s caught in a hunt. Him and grian were hiding in the same place, but it was a targeted hunt so it ended once scar collapsed. I imagine he collapsed on top of grian so grian just kinda stumbles to the floor, back against the wall, and scar in his arms.
He radios in what happened so someone can go get them, because he can’t carry scar back by himself.
Scar’s spirit is standing next to grian, of course not visible, but he stays nearby for both safety reasons and because he like to look at grian without restraint
And in a moment of impulse, he leans down, and kisses grian. Something soft, something quick, and it’s over as soon as it started.
Grian can’t see him, and he can barely feel it. He doesn’t even know if he hallucinated it. Despite writing it off as that: Grian’s hand moves up to touch his mouth, and he curls up a little more, still holding scar’s body.
I feel like scar upon seeing grain’s reaction ends up blushing as well, now suddenly trying to figure out why he just did that and also deciding that it should be illegal for anyone to be that cute
Okay but how do you think grian finds out? Cause I have a loose concept but I’m still debating
Hmmmmm. I feel like grian has his suspicions but doesn’t act on it like scar does. He doesn’t have the same level of confidence on that front.
But I imagine we have more scenes of them being a lot closer, things that can’t be explained away. And after progressively getting closer scar has another fuck it moment
Like it’s after a case, they’re heading back to the van. I imagine it’s raining cause I like the image of imp and Skizz rushing the equipment back into the van with the help of gem
And this is important because this leaves the two of them alone for a moment
As they’re walking, grian is lamenting about stupid ghosts and their stupidness. And scar grabs Grian’s wrist and kisses him, genuinely kisses him. Not hidden or quick like it was before.
“Figured I should do it for real, at least once.”
And before grian can respond, imp is already calling them back into the van. Leaving grian just standing there with not only confirmation about scar’s feelings, but also about the kiss from before.

Okay okay okay so I haven’t watched the new phasmo stream yet I’ll do that when I get home but you know that’s never stopped me from plotting
So my idea is that Tango is actually from the Information department with Jimmy. They’re the ones who look over the cases and determine their credibility. They also happen to be the ones who recommended scar’s case to GIGS
Tango wears red tinted glasses so that I can keep him with red eyes despite being human in this au
Now tango and Jimmy work at the main office building together. Once a case is received and deemed credible they shoot it over to the appropriate team. They also keep track of who’s on what team, who has what van and who has what warehouse. They’re like the secretaries
Tango has been wanting to improve what the information department can do in order to aid their coworkers. But to do this he’d need to know exactly what each department needed.
This prompted Jimmy to pull his “I know a guy” card. He contacted GIGS and requested that tango join them on a case so they can figure out what exactly they can do to help
So that’s how Tango ends up with GIGS temporarily. (He chooses not to mention that their cat nightcare is a violation of company policy.)
Tango took pictures of the entire place for research purposes. The fact that goofy photos of cats and GIGS were also sent to Jimmy was not his fault
There was a particular picture of tango at the warehouse that Grian took. He had sent it over to Jimmy (cause you can hide nothing from grian, he knows you’re crushing Jimmy) and Jimmy now has that same photo as his phone wallpaper
The reason jimmy “knows a guy” (the guy is grian) is because he once tried out for the job in identification before he decided report was more his thing. And boy is he glad he did because he was assigned to work with tango

So when you’re caught by a spirit you get the whole glowy blue thing right? I imagine making tango hypersensitive to that kind of think and his surroundings as a ghost. And this is because of his decked out design with the blue eyes and hair. So when he’s caught by the ghost the veins with the reflections on his glasses give him that kind of appearance.
I like the idea of certain people have an affinity for this.
Like imp who is just unbelievably skilled in general
Grian has a knack for identifying ghosts early on
And tango has keener senses when caught in a hunt

Thinking about office flirting. Tango deep in his work while Jimmy walks by and drops a coffee off at his desk because Jimmy already knows tango’s preferred coffee order.
When going over documents and passing them back and forth tango will leave sticky notes with drawings or little notes of
“Hi :D”
“Good job today.”
“Have you compliment my shoes yet? Cause you should.”
They work in the same office room. It’s a mess of papers and cases. They have a sticker system for cases. Stars for completed cases, blue dots for high priority, red for particularly dangerous ones. When they first introduced this system they both ended up with stickers all over their face. Tango had to wear his sunglasses on his head because Jimmy put stickers over them.
While tango gets deeply enthralled in his work like the very technical man he is, Jimmy will often work late hours. He’ll accept very call even if it seems like a phony just to make sure he varifies it.
Their late hours are actually early morning since they stay up at night to control cases with identification teams (GIGS)
Tango keeps a box of blankets and such under his desk because of Jimmy’s habit of falling asleep after late nights. Once Jimmy is asleep tango will put the blanket over him and let him sleep for a while. If he doesn’t wake up on his own tango will wake him after about an hour
The moment when tango realized he has a crush was one of the mornings Jimmy fell asleep at the office. Tango put the blanket over Jimmy and in a moment he pushed jimmy’s hair out of his face with a smile. When tango moves to sit back at his own desk, he lays his head down and sighs cause it took him no time to figure out his feelings
Tango is the kind of person where once he knows he has a crush he immediately forgets how to act normal around Jimmy. Like Jimmy will lean over his shoulder to look at a case and tango nearly has a verbal keyboard smash.
Grian knows. He knows and he is rooting for them so hard. He knew Jimmy was smitten and thought it was cute. But when tango came to work with them and his crush on Jimmy was so blatantly obvious, grian was delighted. There was definitely smug grian with an eyebrow raise going “sooooooo?”
Jimmy calls tango “Sunshine.” His blonde hair, bright personality, and equally bright red clothes started the nickname. Plus it fits with tango’s fire thing. Tango smiles or giggles everytime, but after realizing he has a crush, his heart nearly explodes. He is suddenly very glad he wears red sunglasses because they cover up the blush.

I do love that concept though. We all know scar is the type to just wander into places and do things without thinking. So as he walks into case location, grian is right behind him because he knows scar didn’t grab anything before walking in. Need to check temp? Grian just hands scar the thermometer. Finger printed? Boom, black light. Gem calls it simultaneously cute and creepy when they stop talking while doing this. Scar will just hold his hand out and grian passes him what he needs.

I feel like tango and Jimmy’s first kiss was a total accident. Like it’s while tango is working with GIGS on cases and while he’s packing up to head out, jimmy is there helping and reviewing the case for him. As Tango walks out the door they both lean in and kiss without even thinking about it.
After realizing what they just did, jimmy is just standing there factory resetting, and tango lets out a very panicked laugh before decidedly running away from the situation
They’re both internally screaming for the next hour

So I imagine there is definitely some awkward silence after the scarian kiss. Scar is simultaneously relieved yet panicking because he did that, and grian is just trying to process everything. Luckily it’s easy to get caught up in work again as they head back to the warehouse and handle the paperwork.
Someway or another grian and scar end up being the last two in the warehouse. Likely grian decided to work later and asked scar to join him. Scar is fully believing he’s about to get chewed out right now, but he agrees to stay too
They work in silence for a few minutes, and the awkwardness is tangible. In the end it’s Grian who breaks the silence, still working as he does so.
“Y’know… You make me feel like the most brilliant man in the world, yet so *so* stupid.”
Scar isn’t sure how to respond to that, so almost dumbly he just stands there going
“I do?”
“Guess that’s what being in love does to a person.”
And if scar was dumbfounded before, he is absolutely baffled now. While he had already known, it is so much different when it’s Grian saying the words himself. Grian long since stopped working and is just staring at the paper work on the cork board because he’s far too flustered to look at scar. And scar of course can see Grian’s blatant nerves. So after a long sigh scar pretends he’s still reading the information on the case, and takes Grian’s hand into his own.
“Yeah, I guess it does.”
Per usual, Scar never fails to miss Grian’s smile.

I feel like once tango comes back from working with GIGS after that accidental kiss, he has spent the last few hours panicking. Jimmy didn’t seem mad and he leaned forward too, so does that mean it’s fine? Are they gonna talk about it or ignore it?
Jimmy has been much the same.
When tango does come back from the office, jimmy has been sitting at the desk. He of course welcomes tango back and finishes submitting the paperwork for the case. After that jimmy kinda just brings up conversation casually.
“Hey, Tango, you have any plans anytime soon?”
“Ahm— No, no I don’t.”
“Let’s go on a date.”
“Right now?”
“Right now.”
Tango is half giggling through this entire conversation because this was jimmy of all people, what else was he expecting? Jimmy in turn is trying not to laugh too, but he is entirely serious
It’s like 3am, they’re both sleep deprived and easily amused. But damn if they’re gonna let that stop them from going on a date right this moment.

So, time to discuss Arizona dads. While Jimmy knows GIGS through Grian, Tango actually knows through Imp and Skizz. A few years back, when imp and skizz were just trainees… they had a third member of their crew, one who happened to be Tango.
Tango eventually had a career change because whole he loved identification, he had done it for years and wanted something calmer. Phasmo is what he loves, so why not just work in a separate department?
This was also why Tango was approved to work with identification again despite being from a different department, because he already had the qualifications and training. He was just a little rusty
Now imp and skizz had no idea tango was the one joining them. Like of course they kept in touch even after tango’s job change, but they were clueless of this new development. All they knew was grian got a call from Jimmy and that report was looking to send someone over to their team. GIGS was the appropriate choice because of their status as a trainee squad, and because of Jimmy and tango’s connection.
Tango also had no idea since before this he had never heard of grian, imp and skizz always called him G in passing or the rookie. So when tango does show up him, imp, and skizz stand there in silence for a few minutes before they all devolve into the Spider-Man meme.

Haha! Guess who forgot Gem is Canadian? Yours truly! But this actually is a good thing because phasmophobia Inc. is looking at expansion! Phasmophobia Inc. originates in America but eventually developed a UK branch. After that, a branch in Canada was established, and discussions are being held to open a branch in Sweden.
Now, while grian was a oermenant transfer from the UK to America, gem was not the same when it came to Canada. The branches will occasionally swap members in all departments to encourage friendly relations and keep in touch. Gem was one of those temporary transfers.
She wasn’t meant to stay long but ended up really cementing herself within GIGS, as such, she now officially travels back and forth between Canada and America. Working back and forth between them.

Tango, imp, and skizz have monthly meetups where they just discuss work and home life. Sometimes these meetups are in the middle of night cause they all just got off of work, or it’s on their day off. No matter what though, it is every month and they will not compromise on this.
This is how tango learned of grian and gem cause the phas dads like to talk about their kids.

Okay idea here, since scar is in a wheelchair what if he can’t leave his house? Of course he has his cane but with his illness it would be hard to move him out. So rather than having him relocate, they just move him into the van while they’re doing their job. This gives scar an up close look at the crew members and their work and this is what inspired him to join the team
Even better if jelly is absolutely loving the little bird boy energy grain and all she wants to do is play with him while he’s working

So I’ve been thinking about gem in canada. While in America she answered to imp and skizz, but who does she answer to in Canada? This is where we are introduced to one Etho, who actually works in the disposal department. Gem deals with him directly when passing the cases over to the next department. Etho has something of a rival in the UK disposal department, one by the name of Joel.
These two have a running bit of who can be the best at their job, and both deny being utterly obsessed with each other. Although their dynamic is a lot of jabs and teasing, they’re actually really good friends just separated by an ocean. (Ooo I’ll use that later)

Now we know disposal goes onto the site after identification and deals with a much more aggravated ghost. The question is, how exactly do they dispose of the ghost?
Now disposal has a slightly different tool set than identification, but a lot of it is the same. Thermometer to check the ghost’s room, and smudges and salt to defend themselves if the ghost decides to hunt back. They also use the sanity medication.
Now any department can do this, but disposal uses it the most. And that is the ghosts’ name. Saying the name enough times encourages agro and almost forces the ghost to come out of hiding. Which is exactly what they need.
When exorcizing the ghost, it will do everything in its power to prevent it, making it far more dangerous. Using the name and messing with the ghost (based on what type it is) will distract it enough for the exorcism to take place. Though this isn’t a 100% full proof method.
As for the exorcism itself, a crew member has to take the cursed object and bring it to the ghosts room. Then it needs to recite the correct verse for the type of ghost, and burn the item. Once it’s burned, they have to douse the fire in salt. All while this is going on the other crew members are attempting to survive the ghost by distracting it, and using smudges. Crosses are also placed throughout the ghost’s room in order to keep it from spawning there.
Disposal has to work very quickly since their sanity will drop rapidly, and it’s a lot harder to come back from a temporary death. The exorcism causes the ghost’s domain to malfunction, meaning the spirit can’t exist when separated from the body. It’s rare to come back from a hunt when you’re caught in an exorcism. Luckily the ghost is also weakened as the domain loses affect. So it’s harder for them to enact a proper hunt.

Particularly with etho and Joel. Like, what do you mean you have a rival who you’re increasingly obsessed with on the other side of the ocean? What do you mean that you’re perfectly fine with the distance because the job comes first? What do you mean that your rival feels the exact same way as you do but you two think the other doesn’t care and therefore neither of you bring it up because you deem it unimportant? I wanted to give etho a Joel a love story that would take a long time to complete. Grian and scar, tango and Jimmy, they work together so them eventually getting together makes sense. Etho and Joel don’t have that, one is in Canada while the other is in the UK. Even if they both know, what can they do?
