Work Text:
“Crowley, my darling,” Aziraphale greeted happily as Crowley walked into his classroom.
Crowley simply nodded to him, “Hello, Aziraphale.” His voice almost matched his enthusiasm, but there was a slight bluntness to it still.
Aziraphale took a small stack of papers, then took a bright red pen out. He didn’t begin grading his students’ work yet. Instead, he focused his gaze to Crowley, who seemed to staring at the gifts students gave him.
“Well-received to your students, hm?” Crowley asked, still marveling at the gifts.
“Yes,” Aziraphale replied with a gentle laugh. “My students wouldn’t if I were to be as brooding as you, my dear. I don’t think the school admins would like me being heavily strict and rude.”
Crowley loudly chuckled at his comment on him. “You think I’m brooding?” He grinned.
“You are quite like that some of the time,” Aziraphale said.
“Know me well, angel.” Crowley stepped to Aziraphale’s desk and smirked at him. Aziraphale returned his smirk with a smile.
There was a sudden ping in his heart, remembering something. “Oh, um, right. I had something for you,” Crowley added.
Aziraphale’s eyebrows perked with interest, “Is that so?”
“Yes, be right back.” Crowley left the room for a short moment, then returned with a box. “My students can hmm— how do you put this? Pesky? Er, however you put it. I tried to reward them by giving them sweets for being quiet, didn’t work.”
Aziraphale nodded. “I see.”
“So, I wanted to give them to you. For whatever reason you’d like to use them.”
Crowley placed the box of sweets on his desk, swallowing the lump that formed in his throat. Aziraphale took it gently. He noticed subtle details on the box, it was a vintage wrapping. It made him wonder if the wrapping reminded Crowley of him. His heart warmed at the thought.
“Thank you,” he beamed. “Is there anything I could do in return?”
Crowley shook his head and combed his fingers through his hair. “No repayment needed.”
Aziraphale giggled tenderly. “I think you’re ought to get going. I have a small load of papers to grade and a good handful of student emails to respond to.”
“Don’t worry. I know how busy you are,” Crowley acknowledged. “I’ll be going.”
He cupped Aziraphale’s cheek and kissed his temple. Aziraphale grinned once more, holding his gaze on Crowley. His stomach swelled.
Crowley began walking out of the classroom, looking behind to give Aziraphale once last look. “See you around, angel.”
“Goodbye, Crowley,” he responded.
