Work Text:
Jason threw himself on the couch next to Artemis, and sighed “I’m exhausted!”
“Just from brunch with Roy and Dick?” asked Artemis, confused.
“It wasn't brunch, it was just an early lunch,” he said pouting.
“Isn't that what brunch is, a combination of breakfast and lunch?”
“Don’t call it brunch, I’m not some middle aged wine mom,” he continued to pout.
“Anyway, did you boys settle things?”
“Yeah, finally Dick gave up on being my best man, after Roy nagged and whined that he's never going to have the chance to be a best man, since I was Dick’s best man.”
“So Dick can be Roy’s best man, and everybody’s happy, right?”
“Yeah, I wish we settled that earlier.”
“Oh you poor thing.”
“Don't make fun of me, I'm starting to realize weddings are a lot of work.”
“It's going to be worthed.”
“Speaking of the wedding, I was wondering, are you going to take my name after we get married?” he asked hopefully but tried to sound nonchalant.
“I didn't think about that, do you want me to, Jase?”
“Well, that’s what I was hinting at.”
“Can’t we keep both names?”
“We could but then my name will be Jason Peter Todd - Wayne - Grace .”
“Wait, your name is Todd - Wayne ?”
“Yeah, I was adopted by Bruce with proper documents and all.”
“I didn't expect that, so you want me to be Todd - Wayne as well?”
“Now that I think about it I should drop the Wayne surname, it’s not like Bruce is going to be upset about it, hell, he probably will be glad that I'm not staining his name anymore.”
“Since when do you want to make Bruce happy?”
“So what are you saying, I should keep the name?” he asked, confused.
“Yes, I say we should stain his name even more, we also could have a mischievous child who will continue to do our job.”
“I love the way you’re thinking. How about we start on that mischievous child plan right now?”
“I knew that's where your mind went,” she patted his cheek.
“It’s your fault.”
“Any more secrets you have to confess before our wedding?”
“Let me think… yeah since you mentioned confessions… I’m catholic.”
“I was expecting you to be christian, nothing shocking there.”
“Yeah, I’m part Irish so being catholic is a given. So if you’d like our kids could be also baptized, not for religious purposes necessarily, more like tradition.”
“I don’t mind tradition, but first we have to get married then have a proper house, then we’ll talk some more about kids.”
“Well I'm not growing any younger here, we should hurry a bit.”
“Please, Jason, you’re still in your twenties, you’re actually quite young.”
“Yeah, but I don't want to be an uncool old man when our kids are teenagers.”
“You’re going to be a great father, Jason.”
“You really think so?”
“Yes, you were amazing dealing with Duela and she was pretty messed up.”
“So let's talk about baby names then, Dean for the boy and Diana for the girl.”
“Two kids?!" she asked a bit surprised.
"You want three kids? I don't mind. The more the merrier. I was an only child, before Bruce took me in."
"Hold your horses, there, Jason, one or two are enough. Also Diana? Really? You’re such a fanboy.”
“Guilty. Then you choose a better name for the girl.”
She thought for a moment, “Hmm, do you like Ariana or Ariadne?”
“Yep," he agreed, "is it a Greek name?”
“Yes,” she confirmed, "it means excellence and sacred.”
“It’s great, we can call her Ari or Ana. Oh man, I can't wait to meet our kids.”
