It was Dazais birthday, June 19th. The man had slacked off of work all day. He was only at the agency until about lunch time before he went off on his serach for the beautiful, suicidal woman who would be willing to kill herself with him. But of course, he has to go looking for that gourgeous suicidal woman who would commit double suicide with him on his birthday. But alas, every woman said no and rejected him. :(
after being constantly rejected, the brunette decided to do something else he enjoyed on his birthday. other than suicide, he also enjoyed drinking, so he decided to not go back to the agency just yet, or at all at that. the detective honestly didnt think anyone at the agency would remember it was his birthday anyways since he hadnt really told anyone. so after a long day of being rejected by multiple women, he just went to the bar and spent the rest of the day away taking shots at the bar.
time skip to when he's going home
When Dazai came back to his apartment, the setting sun had turned the sky into a pretty purple and orange. And then saw a familiar young boy standing and waiting for him at his front door. when dazai noticed his student, he called out to him and waved to him "heyy, atsushi-kun!!"
Atsushi, who visibly had something in one hand, looked over at dazai and panicked and immediately hid the hand that contained something behind his back and smiled and waved back at dazai with the other hand. "ah, hello dazai-san"
Dazai approached atsushi "what'cha got there?" dazai said, he had noticed atsushi panic and hide something behind his back when he arrived "ah, well.. it's for you, dazai-san" Atsushi looked away and blushed slightly in embarassment and handed dazai a small, light blue gift bag. "happy birthday, dazai-san"
The brunette stared at the gift bag for a moment and the back at the weretiger in front of him "for me?" atsushi nodded. "wow! thank you, atsushi-kun! i almost thought you would have forgetten me!" dazai had ended his words in a slightly dramatic and fake sad tone. atsushi only smiled and spoke "i was planning on giving it to you before you went home today but you left earlier than i thought you would and i never got the chance to give it to you earlier. the gift is from me and kyouka by the way"
"ooh, i wonder what it is?? it must really good if its from you and kyouka! ^^" The bandaged man spoke as he looked at the gift bag. "its nothing really. you can open it now if you want, but i hope you like it." atsushi said, he didnt really know what kind of gift was best to give dazai, the man who had no will to live, so he decided to go with something simple and handmade that dazai hopefully liked.
After the younger detetcive spoke, the brunette opened the gift bag and look inside. inside the bag we're three bracelets! One was blue, the other white, and the third one was light purple. the white one was a little messed up but it still looked good like the other two "i don't know much about making bracelets, so i did mine but i messed it up a lot. kyouka ended up doing most of the work. i hope you like them, dazai-san."
"but if you don't then i can always take it back!" atsushi quickly added on. he didnt know if dazai was a jewelry person. if he was, then that was good. but if he wasnt, then atsushi didnt know what he's do if dazai didnt like the present, but maybe, just maybe, he'd like the matching bracelets?? "no need, these look great atsushi-kun. you did a good job on yours too. thats a good bracelet for doing it first try. and thanks for my present" Dazai smiled at Atsushi and praised him as he gave atsushi a little pat on the head.
Atsushi was extremely relieved when his mentor told him that he liked the bracelet. "ah, thank you Dazai-san. but i didnt do a lot, you should really be thanking kyouka, not me." Atsushi replied, he didnt feel worthy of dazai thanking him since he did almost nothing but just mess up his own bracelet while kyouka made two, very pretty, bracelets. "well why don't you tell her i said thanks and we'll all three go out and do something fun tomorrow! my treat."
When the weretiger heard 'my treat', he did not believe that at all. If anything, Atsushi would probably be the one stuck paying for everything because dazai 'forgot his wallet'. "I will, but are you sure it's your treat? and don't we still have work tomorrow?" Atsushi arched an eyebrow as he questioned the man in front of him. "Of course I will! As a suicide proponent, i always keep my promises!" Dazai said confidently before continuing to speak. "and forget about work tomorrow! i won't tell kunikida we're skipping work if you don't tell him."
Atsushi sighed in response, knowing Kunikida would yell at them tomorrow for slacking off of work anyways even if they didn't tell him they were going out instead. "I'll keep my mouth shut then." Atsushi then realized the time, it was night by now and the street lamps were already on. "Ah, I have to go. I promised Kyouka I would be back not long after sunset to not worry her. See you, Dazai-san." Atsushi said after he waved bye to the detective and started walked away.
"Bye Atsushi-kun! Tell kyouka-chan i said hi and thank you for the present!" Dazai said as he waved his goodbye back and watched Atsushi walk off. But then Atsushi stopped walking and turned to Dazai for a quick second to say something. "Happy birthday, Dazai-san. I hope I can spend more time with you on your birthday next year!" Atsushi said as he smiled and then left. Dazai watched him offically leave now and he smiled back. Dazai pulled his keys out, unlocked his door, and was finally home for the day. After everything that happened today, Dazai thought today was a good birthday, except for the part when all those women rejected him. How rude of them to reject him on his birthday. >:(
