Chapter Text
Two hundred and fifty-five years ago, two immensely powerful events occurred that changed the world into what it was in the present day. Those two events collided as a woman was giving birth to a child that was the first one to show signs of the new world. A baby who could emit bioluminescent light was born in Qing Qing City, China.
“Tani Izu,” a male said as he walked into a cavern. The cavern itself was gigantic. More than 3 American football fields in length, width and height. “You attempted to foil our plans to get the Piece of Eden and yet you failed. How disappointing…”
“Shigaraki Tomura…” Tani Izu muttered in shock. “You followed me here to the Precursor Site? For the Staff of Phanes? Do you know-”
Tomura chuckled darkly, “Of course I know what it's capable of! Phanes was supposedly the Greek god of Creation and New Life! As such, the Staff of Phanes has the same power.”
The power to reshape life itself. Down to its very genome. A fearsome ability. Especially for someone who wants to control and manipulate others.
Unknown to each one there, a cult on the other side of the world, was aiming for a similar objective. But for peace and prosperity to reign for the Hidden City of Paititi. In one universe, Lara Croft successfully destroyed and defeated the Cult of Kukulkan saving the world… however it was right after she managed to kill Pedro Dominguez, that the power of Kukulkan was too much for her and right as she was to be “sacrificed” by the Yaaxil Queen, that the world changed.
The Staff of Phanes activated on its own as the power of Kukulkan erupted from Lara. Changing the world as they knew it.
Tani Izu barely managed to escape the blast from the Staff of Phanes. At the cost of the lives of the enemy. Including Shigaraki Tomura.
Present day, 250 years later to the day
Running. Running through the humid, jungle air. Running, leaping, climbing, it was all they could feel. Their bodies, no... It wasn't exactly their bodies was it? It wasn't even their regular selves either. It was more akin to a digital existence. But that wasn't exactly it… they didn't know how to explain. But they knew they were alive. It was… an odd experience. They knew that they were alive, and yet they weren't. How? was something like this possible?
As they were running through the forest, they were attacked. Some by animals, others by people. Whatever the case, the enemies were killed. That is when it happened. As the blood flowed through their fingertips, and the smell of charred flesh filled one's nose, their vision went black.
Sirens wailed. Voices were shouting. Pure chaos. But they knew one thing, and one thing only, they were all safe. Even if it was for but a mere moment.
