Chapter Text

Under normal circumstances, they shouldn’t have been able to meet each other. One of them was a ‘remnant’ of a project to create warriors to fight a galaxy-wide threat. The other was someone who had the misfortune of ‘inheriting’ the powers of an entity of origins unknown (not an Aeon, strangely enough despite the fact that nearly all Aeons were rather incomprehensible) to the (in comparison to the majority of the known galaxy) primitive planet they were born on, locally referred to as Earth (but registered in the galactic information systems as Gaia-VII(7)), and the known galaxy at large, which resulted in them becoming something… beyond human. Their names were Firefly, also known as SAM the Molten Knight, and Hecate Potter, who had been titled as ‘The Witch of The Void’ by the seemingly semi-sentient phenomenon that was seemingly endemic to Gaia-VII(7) referred to as ‘Magic’ by the hidden society on the planet capable of wielding it, ‘the Wizarding World’.

Just like the origins of the entity Hecate received her… extraordinary powers from, the exact cause behind her and Firefly getting acquainted, namely by meeting in a shared dreamscape whenever their sleep schedules coincided with each other, was a mystery that neither of them had been particularly interested in uncovering ever since they first ‘met’ in a dream when they were young. Despite the fact that there was a rather large chronological gap between Firefly and Hecate’s respective dates of birth (even when taking different calendars into account) the gap between their biological/effective ages wasn’t as significant due to the former of the two having been kept locked away in a form preserving stasis for a very long time until (relatively) recently, effectively making Firefly and Hecate only a few months short of a whole year older and younger respectively.

Things changed slightly between the two when Hecate turned eleven, namely that she received her first Hogwarts-Letter and that she would start her magical education at the aforementioned school, often having something interesting she had learned to tell Firefly when they met in the dreamscape. Something that Firefly admitted she was a little jealous about since she had been busy working with the people who found her and got her out of preservative stasis, the group known as the Stelleron Hunters, primarily serving as an infiltrator, spy and (when necessary) powerhouse via the use of her Strategic Assault Mech. While she was no expert regarding the many human-like species in the known galaxy, Firefly was quick to surmise that a large portion of Hecate’s abilities, most notably the apparent ability to manipulate space-time (which most commonly manifested in the form of letting Hecate create portals from where she was to anywhere she wanted to go… as long as she could visualize her destination and had an idea of where she wanted to go was spatially located), weren’t inherent to Hecate’s species, locally referred to as either Witches (for the females) or Wizards (for the males), but granted to the young Witch by a higher entity.

While the setup of meeting in the dreamscape whenever their cycles of sleep coincided worked well, both Firefly and Hecate wanted to meet each other face to face at some point. Little did they know that particular wish would be fulfilled around the time when the start of Hecate’s third school year was approaching.
