Chapter Text

Huh.

Who would’ve thought that it’d end like this?

Actually, no, scrap that. He was pretty sure he would die a little bit like this.

The heat from the Endless Abyss lapped up his back— the magnitude of its temperature and pure aura seemed to push him forward. From the front, the legion of Black Moon Rhinoceros-Python forced him backward. Step by step.

Pressed up between the yawning entrance of the Abyss and Shen Yuan was a currently incapacitated young man, writhing on the ground and clutching his forehead which shone with a glowing red demonic mark.

If he were reading about this situation in a modern web novel, Shen Yuan would gladly put his life savings on the line to bet that this Immortal Alliance Conference is where little side character, Shen Yuan, dies. He could imagine it. A childhood friend bravely sacrifices their life for the protagonist, fighting foe upon foe until their legs give out from exhaustion. All just for the protagonist to wake up only a second after his beloved childhood friend is killed.

It wasn’t a bad way to die, to be honest.

Cooly fighting against massive monsters with all his strength and with hell as a backdrop behind him… Blood striking against his blade as he weaved between massive monsters…

Suffering it all to defend the white lotus protagonist from falling into literal hell…

Yeah. This was a perfect way to die. The perfect scene from a book.

If only that stupid system would stop glowing in his face.

[Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe]

Ever since he transmigrated, that silent blue transparent window adamantly stayed just within view— never once altering its objective or issuing a new mission. It was a shame the system wouldn’t stay out of the way in this tender moment. Why did it have to press up against his vision as if laughing at him?

System, why are you so mean? I’m finally completing your stupid mission.

Hmm, I wonder what reward I’ll get...

Not that the system ever gave him a reward… After all, he wasn’t able to accept any new missions nor could he exactly complete his current mission. So he's never experienced what it's like to be rewarded by the system.

So unfair… Even that useless Shang Qinghua was occasionally rewarded when he completed tasks. Airplane even received more than one mission to keep himself occupied AND he had a sentient voice that explained things to him!

How could life be so unfair again!!! He was sure he worked at least thrice as hard as that lazy Shang Qinghua! They should have swapped systems out of fairness!

… Ah?

Actually...

Wait, maybe he was wrong about dying this time— again.

Shen Yuan just cut down a rather large Black Moon Rhinoceros-Python and threw a blast of spiritual energy to another one, sending the massive thing tumbling down into the abyss. It probably wouldn't die from the fall, but it was certainly out of sight and therefore out of mind.

He scanned the corpse-filled landscape, every single monster seemed to have been slaughtered by him...

Was that… was that the last of them?

……

!!!!!!!!!!!!

HELL YEAH! HE WASN’T DYING TODAY!

THIS ISN’T HIS MOMENT!!!

SCREW THE SYSTEM!

FUCK THAT STUPID BLUE WINDOW!

ACTUALLY, KEEP THAT STUPID MISSION ACTIVE AND NEVER CHANGE IT BECAUSE THIS AWESOME AND MAGNIFICENT SHEN YUAN IS GOING TO KEEP EVADING FATE—

Shen Yuan’s sword, Mingguang, clattered onto the ground behind him, right next to a Luo Binghe whose eyes were now wide and awake with indescribable horror.

That was weird.

He surely dodged that.

However, the pain in his right arm said otherwise.

But… that was even stranger. He shouldn’t be feeling anything there in the first place.

After all, when Shen Yuan looked down at his own body, his right arm was nothing more than bloody mist.

Looking up, he saw the large Black Moon Rhinoceros-Python staring straight at him. After that attack, it had used up all its energy and slumped down again— dead for good.

Shen Yuan knew from countless hours in the Qing Jing library that these monsters had spatial powers. With immense amounts of demonic energy, they could compress a section of the surrounding area and utterly obliterate any atom within that volume of space.

Apart from breaking through barriers, it was too slow and ineffective against a cultivator who knew to never stay still for long enough to get crushed.

But in his celebrations, Shen Yuan had stayed still for too long.

How pathetic.

Shen Yuan had spent the entirety of his new life on high alert.

As a sacrificial side character, he could fall dead at any moment. After too many close encounters with death, Shen Yuan thought he had learned to never relax— to forever keep up his guard.

Who knew that in a brief moment of happiness and celebration, his arm and soon his life would finally be stolen.

Ah… Shen Yuan didn’t want to think about it anymore.

There wasn’t any point when he was really going to die now.

Losing an arm? Losing a leg? Losing a head?

Who the hell cares. He was going to go die now.

Shen Yuan’s legs were numb. The nerves in his arm shouldn't exist anymore. His arm shouldn’t be hurting, but the pain still radiated uncontrollably, extending into his legs until they too pulsed with unbelievable hurt.

The red mist that used to be his right arm soaked into his clothes and pooled down the right side of his robes. It was so wet with blood and hurt that even Shen Yuan, in his numbness, could feel it.

His eyes could still see, but he couldn’t comprehend anything. He could see Luo Binghe spring up and crawl towards him, tears running down his face, but Shen Yuan was unable to register the sight.

Binghe… I’m really going to die this time… This is what Shen Yuan wanted to say, but blood loss meant he was too weak to even choke on his own words.

Binghe, where are you? I can’t see you at all.

If I’m dying for you… then I want to see you again for at least one last time.

Seeing Binghe’s handsome face again— ah, that isn’t such a bad reward.

But the combination of pain and bodily trauma still meant he couldn’t see anything but that blue window in front of him:

[Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe]

System, you better not forget the reward for this mission. If it’s anything worse than Binghe’s beauty, then I’ll beat you up real bad…

Shen Yuan was able to stand from sheer will. But human desire and effort could only go so far. His legs just physically couldn’t take it anymore.

The ground under him seemed to list and rise— the land had disappeared and was raised high into the sky…

No, that’s not right. The dirt wasn’t ascending into heaven. It was Shen Yuan who was falling into the Abyss.

Peacefully, he closed his eyes and waited for the fall to kill him.

—-------

Luo Binghe’s back sounded like firecrackers as it hit the jagged and stony floor of the Endless Abyss. However, that was okay because, cradled in his arms, was his armless A-Yuan— cushioned by Luo Binghe's body and safe from the fall.

His arms and legs were twisted from the fall. When they hit the Abyss’ floor, Luo Binghe heard them make an audible splat. But, soon after he felt their absence, his arms and legs were already beginning to grow back. He could feel every single bone and muscle stitch itself back into place. To say it was an unpleasant feeling was like saying it was a happy experience.

When he healed enough to move, Luo Binghe immediately turned his attention towards Shen Yuan who lay on his torso, bleeding profusely from his missing right arm but still alive.

Luo Binghe felt his own right arm twitch.

If only he could give Shen Yuan this ability. If only…

If only Luo Binghe wasn’t so useless and weak.

He wished he died up there before Shen Yuan lost his arm protecting him. If only he was strong enough. If only he didn’t need to be protected so much.

Shen Yuan was always there to protect him. But why couldn’t Luo Binghe do anything back?

Luo Binghe knew these were useless thoughts. He was down here with Shen Yuan and he couldn’t focus on anything but helping him and getting out.

He couldn’t be distracted.

Shen Yuan was unconscious. And it was probably for the better. He didn’t know if he could stand seeing his A-Yuan’s face scrunch up with pain, or if he could handle hearing him scream from phantom pains.

Luo Binghe ripped his outer layer into gauze and rope. He didn't touch Shen Yuan’s clothes. If he saw the bleeding stump, uncovered by those blood-stained sleeves, those thoughts would just come racing back in— making Luo Binghe immobile with guilt and regret.

No. He needed to be useful. He needed to get Shen Yuan out of here. He couldn't be so squeamish or else the untreated wounds will really kill him.

Squinting so he could barely see, he stuffed Shen Yuan’s bleeding stump with the cleanest cloth he could find to stop the bleeding.

But even the slightest glimpse at that gaping wound, that entirely lost and eradicated arm… He could see white bone, fractured and then stabbed into the exposed flesh like a barbed arrow… Additionally, the damage wasn’t solely isolated to Shen Yuan’s right arm. A portion of his right torso had also been crushed and obliterated. It left the insides of his right lung exposed and effectively useless.

Luo Binghe couldn’t take it for much longer without vomiting and crying. “I’m sorry, A-Yuan. I’m sorry, Gege. It should have been me who was hurt like this. It should be you who is awake right now.

"I'm sorry for being so weak. I'm sorry for being so useless. I promise I will pay you back no matter what!"

He couldn’t stop crying and feeling ill with guilt. Despite being unable to move without breaking into painful tears, eventually, he managed to pull out the fragments of bone and slow the bleeding just enough for Shen Yuan’s condition to stabilize. It stabilized on the cusp of death, but he wouldn’t die for at least another day— or at least Luo Binghe hoped so. Shen Yuan was a strong cultivator with a good golden core. It should be okay.

It will be okay.

Luo Binghe repeated this in his mind countless times, over and over and over and over, in an attempt to drown out the image of the inside of Shen Yuan's right lung and his bloody flesh.

He wiped his tears. He couldn't be feeling like this if he wanted to help Shen Yuan.

It will be okay.

Then, Luo Binghe positioned Shen Yuan to sit upright against a rock and, utilizing the remainder of his own clothes, he began to circle a shoddily-made rope around their torsos.

After tightly securing his back to Shen Yuan’s torso, he then crossed Shen Yuan’s legs and feet around his waist— tying them tightly together so they wouldn’t dangle around and also make him legless.

Luo Binghe didn’t know if he could handle seeing his A-Yuan being so hurt like that again.

With a great oomph, Luo Binghe pushed himself off the floor and began to stand up. He would never be grateful for this, but he wasn’t complaining that the loss of Shen Yuan’s arm made him a little lighter to carry. In normal circumstances, Luo Binghe could easily climb mountains and sprint marathons while effortlessly carrying Shen Yuan.

But this was anything but normal. Luo Binghe was still weak from his demonic heritage being unlocked and his body was still recovering from cushioning the fall. Furthermore, this place, the Endless Abyss… Its aura was so imposing that any cultivator, demonic heritage or not, would find it difficult to be here. He had to find a way out. With Shen Yuan stuck in a deep coma and having lost his dominant arm, his friend had all his martial prowess and cultivation stolen away in a single loss…

But that was no worry, even if he had to carry A-Yuan by his teeth and even if they had to stitch each other’s skin together, he would make sure he was never left alone to die.

Even if all life escaped from A-Yuan’s eyes, Luo Binghe wouldn't even dare leave that corpse alone. Luo Binghe would stay there and rot together with him forever as if he were a filthy animal's carcass.

Luo Binghe stumbled forward, his left leg was half-healed. But half-healed still meant half-broken and half-crumbled and shattered into at least ten pieces. But he persevered anyway. He needed to get out of here.

A-Yuan needed medicine.

A-Yuan needed help.

A-Yuan is really going to die if Luo Binghe isn't good enough.

From afar, the pair looked like a set of conjoined twins. Or, perhaps the strange silhouette was more akin to a monster from the abyss. It warded off smaller abyss enemies who were unwilling to fight against an unknown foe.

Luo Binghe didn’t exactly know this, but every time he silently rounded a corner and saw a lack of demonic monsters there… he couldn’t help but sigh in heavy relief.

Right now, one hit would really be the end of Shen Yuan.

Tied together forever, Luo Binghe slowly limped his way further through the Endless Abyss.

—--------

Shen Yuan’s body and mind were too numb with pain to comprehend his surroundings. But he somehow knew, even deep in his sleep, that Luo Binghe was right next to him.

Wait… He could feel Luo Binghe. Yes, he could feel his back against his chest strong.

Was he still alive?

Shen Yuan couldn’t open his eyes. He could barely feel anything at all. Ah, so maybe he really was dying. For real, this time.

In front of him, he saw his life replay before his eyes. It was just like a moment in a web novel or in a TV drama or wherever else where the character saw their entire life being repeated the moment before they died. Shen Yuan didn’t know what to think. But if this was the reward… if this was fulfilling his wish to see Binghe again before he went away… Well, Shen Yuan didn’t fight the memories.

He let his life flash through his eyes, enjoying his time reliving his short life.

—------

Luo Binghe has carried him like this before.

How could he forget? It happened soon after the first time they met in this world.

After he died, Shen Yuan had awakened in the body of a feverish abandoned street child, maybe seven or eight years old, dying alone on the cold streets and with a blue notice appearing right in front of him:

[Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe]

He blinked once to clear the junk off his crusty eyelids.

He blinked again.

MISSION OBJECTIVE????

DIE FOR LUO BINGHE???????

MMMMMOTHER FUCKER!!!!

After he spent a week non-stop (without sleep and only tentatively eating) reading that damned web novel, Proud Immortal Demon Way, the final words he remembered hearing was of a google translate voice, “Activation Code: [GO DIE IN A DITCH YOU STUPID AUTHOR!!] was successful. Triggering system. We sincerely hope to provide you with the experience you desire.”

Shen Yuan barely even registered that google translate voice when he heard it. He had just assumed it was a hallucination that happened to everybody when they died from something as stupid as expired food. But it appears as if that wasn’t the case…

But what the hell???

‘We sincerely hope to provide you with the experience you desire’....

What kind of bullshit was that?! Did the system misunderstand him or something? He wanted that author to die in a ditch, not him!!!!

Yeah, yeah, he transmigrated and whatever he died in his past life… and YEAH he ended up in that horrid Proud Immortal Demon Way… but that didn’t matter at all now! He could've reincarnated into a children’s book and it would be okay! He could've happily transmigrated into some scum villain! Just— What is this gross misunderstanding?!

‘Hey, System! I don’t want this mission objective! Change it for something else!’

The message window stayed static. [Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe]

‘Oi! Are you working at all?’ Ah, maybe he had to exchange the mission for something… like how mobile game missions could be skipped if someone paid money (not that he played MANY mobile games, of course). ‘System, do I have any in-game currency that I can exchange to dismiss this mission?’

The message window stayed static. [Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe]

He wouldn’t say he was an otaku or a weeb, but he had read thousands of web novels (of which around two hundred were part of the transmigration genre) and he had never met such an unresponsive system.

Shen Yuan tried a few more times to spark any sort of reaction from the system, but nothing worked. So, in the end, he simply gave up and resigned himself to his fate.

He first tried to comfort himself:

It’ll be okay! The system is supremely unhelpful but at least it won’t place restrictions on him and force him to be with Luo Binghe.

If anything, the system’s inactivity meant he could do anything and run far, far away. There was no way he could die for Luo Binghe if he never went to the same province as him!

But… the system didn’t put any restrictions on what dying for Luo Binghe meant. Did it mean that he had to sacrifice himself for the protagonist? Or maybe when Luo Binghe eventually combined the three realms and Shen Yuan was inevitably killed then the mission would be complete?

Who the hell knew… Shen Yuan certainly couldn’t assume.

One thing he could guess was that there might be some sort of punishment for not completing the objective.

But what possible punishment could there be when the literal objective was dying…

Something worse than death?

He sat on the street, his head becoming heavier with his rising temperature and stress.

Ugh… Run away… don’t run away… what was the point if he was going to die from a fever as a street urchin.

When Shen Yuan first opened his new eyes, he was initially quite happy at the thought of transmigrating. He had spent his previous life dying slowly first in a pediatric unit and then outside of it when he decided hospitals weren’t for him anymore. Things like school consisted of a stream of private one-on-one tutors, teaching him everything he needed to know through effective and methodical lessons— never once veering away from the syllabus to ask Shen Yuan anything casual.

If only I could be reborn as a protagonist like in that story — was a recurring fantasy as he browsed through numerous web novels.

If I could be born better… that would be quite good . This was something that, as a child, he couldn’t help but dream of.

But who knew!!!! Who knew that his childhood dreams would come true but that they would be messed up like this!!!!!!!

What was the point of transmigrating if he was sentenced to die anyway!!!

Stupid system, at least give me a way to change my fate!

But the system never responded. It only showed that message, never once turning off or changing to another message or screen.

[Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe]

Shen Yuan could simply do nothing about it. So he let the fever take over him and fell into a deep sleep. Throughout his little coma, he occasionally woke up to place a hand against his forehead or under his armpits. It was a cold night— he presumed it was winter. However, his unblanketed body still seemed to sweat and boil with his fever. And his forehead seemed to genuinely feel too hot to physically touch.

This… this was quite odd. Shen Yuan was familiar with fevers and sickness. He knew that it wasn’t possible for a body’s temperature to be this high without immediately dying.

He sent a hopeless glance towards the blue transparent window for an answer.

It responded with its unchanging presence— [Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe]

However, perhaps this was the answer he wanted.

He was obviously meant to die for Luo Binghe. The system sure was very insistent about this. But despite this, Shen Yuan had reasonably assumed that he could still die from other things like his current fever. That was before he realized that this fever was really too lethal. This provided two possibilities— Shen Yuan was either blessed with immense bodily strength and health (HAHA UNLIKELY) or he was being kept alive by a mysterious force.

And that glowing blue system was quite the mysterious thing…

Of course, he had no way to confirm this, but perhaps the system required him to die for Luo Binghe for a specific plot related reason. So any time he dies before that future plot point couldn’t be allowed. This would also suggest that Shen Yuan was now technically immortal— unless he died in a situation regarding Luo Binghe, he supposed.

He stared at the glowing window again.

[Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe]

Maybe YOU should go die… useless unhelpful system…

Actually, it REALLY wasn’t helpful. His first nap was brought on by extreme physical exhaustion, so he could sleep alright. However, the second nap was more painful. Shen Yuan found the bright light of the system extremely annoying and couldn’t fall back asleep. As a citizen of modern society, he couldn’t sleep without covering windows with heavy blackout curtains and with every single light in the house turned off. To have such a bright neon thing always there was really insufferable.

He tapped on the system’s window multiple times, trying to find an X button or anything to switch it off. But, alas, it never worked.

And because the system followed his vision, it meant that the bright stupid neon thing wouldn’t even go away if he turned to face another direction.

Was it bugging out? Or was it specifically designed to have the worst UI in existence…

System, I want to send a complaint to whoever programmed you.

No response.

He had no choice but to stay awake. He couldn’t even have the comforts of unconsciousness to brave the fever.

Eventually, the sun set and all the people had gone back home— now even depriving Shen Yuan of some kind of entertainment.

So he simply stared into the freezing darkness.

An hour passed.

It had begun to snow.

Two hours passed.

Nothing happened at all.

Three hours passed….

Too much time passed and Shen Yuan felt like he was going insane. He was about to weakly get up and find something to eat or drink but, out of the corner of his eye and illuminated by the bright blue system message, he saw a little boy surrounded by much older men.

Who… who was that?

He couldn’t really move, so he just stared at the dimly illuminated scene. The men (maybe more like teenagers… they looked a little adolescent now that he was paying attention) had this boy quivering against the wall. One of the larger men stuck his open palm forward, gesturing for the small boy to give him what he was clutching tightly in his hands.

Shen Yuan didn’t need to be a genius to figure out what was going on. He was witnessing a nighttime robbery… He has never seen one before in his past life, so maybe it’ll be interesting.

Under the influence of the fever, he started to commentate as if he was an angry commenter— it wasn’t a hard role to play.

Kid! You should have run away from the beginning! You should have avoided this whole thing altogether! Why are you even out at this time of night?

The teenager that stuck out his hand said something and the boy shook his head.

What is the point of denying those assholes? Kid, you are so much weaker than them… You might as well just give them whatever money you have on you and quickly scamper away. There’s no need to be so stubborn when you’re a man and all they want is your money.

Ah… Ah? Wait. Kid! Just hand over whatever they want!!

But the boy couldn’t hear him and held on tightly to his pouch. So one teenager held onto the boy’s arm and threw him to the ground. Quickly, the rest of the teenagers began to beat him up.

Man, this is what happens when you don’t give in! You get beaten into dust AND they’ll take whatever they want! Ah, take it from an experienced weak kid like me… there is really no point fighting back…

But despite these comments raging through his head, Shen Yuan had stood up and was already stumbling towards the commotion.

When he got there, Shen Yuan raised his fist and channeled all his power and ability into a punch. It landed squarely on the teenager’s back, barely even ruffling his clothes.

The teenager seemed to realize something touched his back a second later, so he turned around and saw a red-faced boy who was so weak he was trembling with effort even as he stood still.

The teenager couldn’t help but let out: “What... Who are you…”

THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULDN’T FIGHT BACK!!!! I CAN’T EVEN RUN AWAY!!!!!!!

Everyone stopped to stare at this strange kid and Shen Yuan couldn’t help but shake under their gaze.

However, something compelled him not to close his eyes and immediately accept his fate. For some unknown reason, he decided to look down at the bruised and battered boy…

Even through the swelling and dirt, Shen Yuan knew exactly who it was.

“Luo Binghe???!!!”

Wait…!

WAIT!

THIS MEANT THAT THE MISSION OBJECTIVE COULD NOW BE APPLIED. HE'S NOT IMMORTAL.

DID THIS MEAN HE WAS GOING TO DIE!!!

NOW????

His mission objective was going to be fulfilled almost immediately after he transmigrated!

Seeing as he knew the kid’s name, the teenagers thought that this random dirty kid was coming here to help save his friend. Inevitably, Shen Yuan became their new target.

At this point, Shen Yuan had unsurprisingly immediately blacked out from the abuse.

When Shen Yuan woke up again, he was resting on Luo Binghe’s small but warm back. Clearly, those teenagers had enough of beating up two random kids and left.

“How uncool…” Shen Yuan said this quietly, but as he was right up against Luo Binghe, he was heard perfectly well.

“U–uncool…?”

“Mhmm, yeah. We both got beat up and now you’re carrying me. I’m supposed to be a grown man, you know?”

“N-No! Gege was very cool when he came to save me!” Luo Binghe’s voice wavered from the effort of carrying Shen Yuan, but he still sounded quite genuine.

“Was I really cool?” Shen Yuan was still in a daze. In normal circumstances, he wouldn’t dare ask such an embarrassing question. However, deep in his heart he was quite happy. His previous body was too sick to be awesome and do cool things. He was really hoping that, when he died, he would reincarnate into a cool person.

“Yes! Gege was very cool!”

AHH! THE PROTAGONIST! CALLED!! HIM!!! COOL!!!! To think such an awesome protagonist would call him cool! Shen Yuan giggled happily without meaning to before tempering his voice again.

“Good…” Shen Yuan solemnly coughed these words out to hide the giggles he let out. “That’s very good…”

It was him being a kid. Yeah. Kids can't keep their mouths shut. It was just a biological thing.

With that, Shen Yuan felt fatigue sink into his weary bones.

And despite the bright light of the system shining the words [Mission Objective: Die for Luo Binghe] from the corner of his vision, Shen Yuan couldn’t help but fall into the most peaceful and happy sleep he’s had— both in this life and his past life.

Just as he fell asleep, he couldn’t help but decide that this magnificent and awesome protagonist was worth accompanying— even if it was just for Shen Yuan to boost his own ego.

It’ll be okay, Shen Yuan decided, he’ll just train hard to be powerful. If he’s strong, then he can defend himself from whatever will come after him. If he’s powerful enough, then he can stay by Luo Binghe’s side, awesomely fight next to him, and (hopefully) come out of it alive!

With Shen Yuan stuck tightly to his back, Luo Binghe stumbled away.

—-------

Luo Binghe raised Shen Yuan’s spiritual sword in his right hand. His own sword, zhengyang, had been shattered long ago when they were fighting above the Abyss.

The other arm circled around his back, trying its best to shield Shen Yuan’s lifeless body from danger.

It was a futile act, but one which Luo Binghe did anyway.

Shen Yuan was always so much stronger than Luo Binghe. Of course, Shen Yuan would constantly insist over and over again that “Binghe is the strongest in the world! Binghe is the most talented!” but, in the end, it was Shen Yuan who always secretly stayed up all night to train sword forms. In the end, it was always Shen Yuan who won every single spar and who “accidentally” lost every time he was put up against Luo Binghe.

If Luo Binghe was extremely talented, then Shen Yuan was hardworking to the same degree.

Shen Yuan was strong— stronger than anyone and anything. So strong that even a barbaric and uncouth attack from behind which used up the entirety of a demon's life energy was only strong enough to take away his arm, not his life.

He also understood very well that, without Shen Yuan, he wasn't strong.

Luo Binghe knew that, if he was the one standing here, alive, Shen Yuan was definitely strong enough to survive the abyss.

This meant that when an aggressive Black Moon Rhinoceros-Python appeared in front of the pair, sent here by Shen Yuan’s burst of spiritual energy which sent it flying into the Abyss, Luo Binghe couldn’t help but wish his A-Yuan was here.

One hit was enough to kill Shen Yuan and Luo Binghe couldn't fight it in his current state...

Shen Yuan would know what to do here.

The demon roared in anger at them, its hoof was gearing up to charge at the slow and stumbling Luo Binghe.

If only it was Luo Binghe’s arm which was stolen and not Shen Yuan.

If only Luo Binghe was powerful.

But life never went Luo Binghe’s way.

He widened his pose and narrowed his glowing red eyes towards the demon. He looked as if ready to receive the monster’s attack head on.

The mark on his forehead glowed dangerously and began to morph and stretch out across his forehead, now appearing as glowing ancient runes and symbols.

Shen Yuan’s sword in his hand began to tremble with the excess of both demonic and spiritual energy that Luo Binghe had unconsciously let loose— Luo Binghe's spiritual magnitude shook the ground.

The demon in front of him and the demon holding Shen Yuan… both got ready to attack.
