Chapter Text
Nami liked what they have. She enjoyed the company and appreciated how convenient having her sex buddy aboard the same ship as her was. She had never questioned their entanglement before and never minded seeing her green-haired companion pick up a lady every now and again at the various taverns he would visit. So why, as she watched said swordsman draw circles with his finger over a young woman’s backhand, did Nami feel so irritated?
The infamous Strawhat crew had made their way onto a new and undiscovered island after finding the One Piece. This island was of grassy terrain, and the port they landed at had a town full of liveliness and acceptance for pirates - a perfect place for the crew who had finally reached their pirating goals. Nami found herself trying a new liquor at the tavern the group found refuge at. The bartender said it had a cinnamon-spicy taste and that all the local-youngins like herself were raving about it - Pyroball, she remembered him calling it. A little sweet for Nami’s tastes, she hadn’t realized just how strong the liquor was until she was already 3 mugs deep. She also hadn’t realized, that this particular alcohol made her very, very irritated.
Giggles could be heard from the girl Zoro was immersed with, and certain tonal inflections made it obvious the two were hitting it off. Distant coos and hums gave off just the right amount of sexual tension to almost send Nami over the edge. Through gritted teeth and white knuckles, Nami abruptly stood from her barstool with a swift SCREECH!, and she paced out of the bar before she said something she knew she would regret later.
The fast movements were a tad too much for her drunken body and she found herself stumbling towards the ground outside of the tavern. WHISH!, a stretchy arm wrapped around her waist and caught her just before her face met gravel. Her cheerful captain was a couple meters ahead, sitting at a patio table with a few new friends he had made on the island, his free hand holding up a comically large piece of meat.
“You alright, Nami?” her fearless captain yelled from his seat, mid-chew.
She smacked at his arm for release and when he did, she began to continue her storming away, “Can it, IDIOT!” she yelled in frustration as she briskly stomped past him, “THANK YOU!” she added before disappearing from eye line.
Luffy’s head tilt to his back in a 180 degree, as he watched her storm away until finally whipping his head back, shrugging it off and laughing with his newfound friends.
The lively streets were muted in Nami’s enraged mind, so much so that she didn’t even notice the calls of her other crew mates as she stomped by. Still stumbling, an unexpected unleveling of gravel made her trip yet again, this time being caught by her forearm from an unfamiliar man.
“Woah there,” a reverberating and husky voice mumbled. This voice came from the hand that caught the ever-so-clumsy Nami, “You ‘aight?” the deep voice remarked in the town’s local accent.
“ ‘m fine,” Nami rambled in her sluggish state, she looked up to the man to see an exceptionally dashing fellow. He was big, broad, and muscular. She assumed he worked in the fields that Luffy’s new pals had mentioned earlier - with a body like that, she thought it’d be a waste not to work in something as physically demanding as farm work. His tanned skin was another dead giveaway for this, and his long and unkempt hair was tied in a loose pony that left various strands framing his chiseled face.
“Where ‘ya headed? Need’a hand?” He asked as he steadied her, Nami noticed he had a beer jug occupying his other hand and an idea struck her. If Zoro was gonna get laid tonight, Nami should too, right? It was only fair… And the fact that this man was assumingly also drunk, meant he was fair game.
“Yes,” she blurted a little too quickly. “Mind walking me over to the port? I’m real irritated right now and have a feeling I’ll need someone to hold me back from punching a stranger,” her voice jumbled and she led the way towards her beloved ship.
He scoffed, “Angry? What’s got a pretty thing like you so bent up?”
Hooked.
Nami took this as an indication that he was interested. But his question made her remember the scene she had so infuriatingly witnessed and she let out a frustrated “ACK!” smacking a hand to her face.
“I don’t even know why I’m so frustrated! I- just- feel like punching something!” Her hands clenched up and an aura of orange started to illuminate from her body.
“Now, now fireball,” the man placed a light palm on Nami’s shoulder. The brief look of panic was oblivious to Nami as he saw the embers of Conquerer’s Haki flicker in the navigator’s aura.
The touch calmed her down for a bit and her drunken state made her say the following, “I’m cute right?! Gah! Why am I so irritated?! Why is he so- ?!” She exasperated to herself. The muscled man breaking his stride,
“He?” the man asked with slight hesitation.
“Zoro!” the Pyroball was taking over at this point, “That idiot! Just because the sex is good- ! He thinks he’s all that!”
The man was obviously silent now, likely trying to infer the relationship status of this orange-haired drunkard through the bits and pieces she was unveiling.
“Whatever! He can do what he wants! It’s not even like we’re dating anyway, stupid man!” Nami was punching the air, with the man’s hand at the small of her back to keep her steady.
The rest of the walk to the ship was much of the same, with Nami expressing her frustrations and the man quietly deducing if he had a chance or not. His beer empty by the time he reached the ship, he was adamantly buzzed and ready to send Nami on her merry way - accepting that he would probably never see her again. As he helped her up the ship, he prepared himself for saying goodbye, “Great to meet ‘ya, miss fireball,” he gave a gentlemanly nod, before turning away.
A light tug held him back, Nami’s hand grasping at the hem of his shirt, “That’s it? Don’t you want to stay a while?” she questioned in feigned innocence.
He looked confused now, taken aback by the obvious proposition, “What ‘bout Zoro?” he raised a brow.
“Who cares about him!” she slurred, “Won’t you take my mind off him instead?” her hips danced in an ever-seductive way.
“You’re drunk,” the man scoffed, preparing to walk away again.
“I mean, you’re drunk too, right? You’ve got me quite curious now and I’m not above some angry sex with a hot stranger,” her finger trailed down his chest, feeling the alley between his pecs and stopping at the middle of his abs.
He knew she had a point. He would be lying if he said the reason he caught the falling girl wasn’t partially due to her beauty - the orange locs on her head made her stand out in the crowd, and he already knew he was interested in her before she made her stumble - it just so happen that the particular fall gave a perfect opportunity for him to start a conversation with her. He considered it further before ultimately deciding it was still a bad idea, “No matter how much I wanna do that right now, I think goin’ about it while you’re shitfaced and angry ain’t gonna do anyone good. I don’t want ‘ya wakin’ up tomorrow morn’ regretting your lay with me,” he shrugged, shaking his head.
His chivalry enticed Nami further, had it been any other man she knew he would fold instantly. But the fact that this man denied her not once, but twice, made her feel safe and respected.
She sighed agreeably, “How about this, why don’t we just go to my room and not do anything until we’ve both sobered up, and then if we’re both still up for it, we proceed? I actually like talking to you too so I don’t mind the wait,” her gambling nature took over as she heightened her proposition.
This finally made him fold and he followed her to the women’s quarters.
Reeled.
When he asked about the separate bed, Nami ensured that her flatmate had a new one she frequented instead of her own. Nami’s dark-humored bestie had found sanction in a particular cyborg’s weapon development room, where they engaged in “SUPER BODY EXPLORATION!” as Franky so eloquently put it when the couple announced their relationship. This description alone was enough to cause laughing from only Robin, Brooke, and Luffy - while the remainder of the crew were left in a fit of embarrassment and fluster - seldom Sanji, who took the announcement particularly hard and neglected giving Franky food for days.
Nami and her sexy counterpart were now engaged in a heated discussion about particular fruits. Nami had lightheartedly expressed her love for tangerines and deemed them the supreme fruit, which to her shock - caused the mountain of a gentleman to scoff in disbelief. Her assumption that he’d been a farmer was correct, but when he started spewing about some unknown “fruit of the island” and how a mere tangerine was no match for it, she began to question if welcoming him into her quarters was truly the best idea. Nami would die hard protecting her tangerines, and this man was no exception to that. The couple bickered all night and their planned sex-capades never ended up reaching fruition as they lay in slumber on Nami’s bed, cuddling each other affectionately. The alcohol definitely had more control on the both of them than expected, but honestly, their drunken knockouts could probably be anticipated by literally anyone else with the amount they had consumed.
Break off.
—
When morning came, Nami found herself warmed by an unfamiliar presence. She sprang up, only to find the remnants of yesterday sleeping soundly on her bed. What shocked her most of all was that they were both fully clothed.
Fragments of the night prior popped up in Nami’s mind but she couldn’t quite grasp a clear picture just yet. She knew she needed a heaping serving of Sanji’s Hangover Soup to sort out all her memories. What she for sure remembered, was that this man was no threat to her.
Her head hurt. Nami had no idea why the bartender would ever recommend such an atrocious liquor. This hangover was a beast of its own and Nami started to worry just how much soup she might need to feel better. To her side, muffled grumbling came from the man, his hair a mess and scattered over his face and her pillows.
“Oi Nami!” A knocking came to her door, “Sanji made breakfast, get up and eat!” The knocking made the man beside her stir, and he got up dazedly, rubbing his eyes, “Food?” he rasped.
Nami would be lying if she said the deep vibration of his voice did nothing to the depths of her stomach. “Hungry?” she smiled at the sleepy-eyed man, “Come meet my crew! Least I can do is feed ya for helping me out last night, er-“ she paused for a moment, “What was your name?” she scratched the back of her head awkwardly trying to recall if they ever properly introduced themselves.
“Seiki”.
She gave a cheeky grin and snatched his hand to shake, “Nami. Nice to meet ya,” she shook excitedly before another trill of bangs came from her door.
She got up in annoyance, the knocks doing no good for her already intense hangover, “Alright, alright I’m coming!” She shouted as she opened the door. A cross-armed swordsman await her on the other side, looking refreshed and as irritatingly handsome as always.
“Hurry up,” he gruffed, “Luffy’s already up and eating”.
A shadow cast from behind her as Seiki mountained over her smaller frame, leaning a forearm on the door frame and sticking close to her body he said, “We’re comin’, no need’a yell so early in the mornin’” the man yawned as his free arm lift up his shirt to scratch his chest, hair still in a sexy mess. He placed his hand on the small of her back and led her past Zoro towards the smell of the food.
Zoro watched the pair for a silent second before yelling back, “Who’s this jackass?!”
The sound was, again, too damn loud. And Nami turned over her shoulder to snip back, “Will you SHUT. THE FUCK. UP?” her ears ringing and head pounding from her own volume.
Seiki put a pinky to his ear as he transferred his hand from her back to her hip, “Too loud, little fireball, too loud,” he scolded in feigned annoyance that she interpreted as some sort of endearment.
She gave a frustrated huff as she led the way towards the dining hall.
Oh yeah, Zoro was pissed.
