Chapter Text
One week. He’d ran from Valentino one week ago, after figuring out how the last seven years were a dam lie. He ran to the hotel, the princess was kind enough to allow him to stay until he sorted everything out, during that time his memories had been returning. And each time it hurt so much.
The first time it happened was a few days before he ran, a week to be exact.
TWO WEEKS AGO
No one in hell should be subjected to this amount of paperwork, it was honestly unholy.
But when you the CEO of a major broadcasting company, you must make sacrifices, so if vox’s evening was spent going through the paperwork then so be it, besides it was a good distraction.
Valentino had been bitching all week about angel dust, and how he now had ‘lucifers protection’ and the king of hell himself was working on breaking the contract. So, Val couldn’t do shit, and vox would rather die five times over then deal with Valentino at that moment.
That’s when his head started aching, it was small at first, probably the paperwork he told himself, next thing he knew he was creating unwanted electricity, and when he closed his eyes, he felt something deep in his database emerge hitting him like a freight train.
----
A party, being hosted by voxtech, around 60 years ago, he was walking down a series of hallways, the radio demon at his side. “Remind me why I have to do this” vox said “Its an opportunity for you to make alliances” Alastor said “Come on, you hate social gatherings” Vox said “which is why I have a system” he explained “oh do tell” vox said, Alastor sighed “Step 1: find the champagne” Alastor said holding up a finger, vox laughed “Step two: mingle around with the participants, ensure there is always champagne in your hand” He said holding up a second finger “Step 3: once socialising is complete, find fellow overlords, do shots” he held up a third finger “Step 4: before I get stupid drunk, leave and drink myself shitless in private” He finished with a fouth finger.
“Good plan” vox said “I might change around step two: ensure mingling is conducted near the Boxman” He said “Now why would you do that” Vox asked, “Incase some douche goes to far in conversation” “Ok let me change my question, how are you going to do that” he asked.
Alastor stopped and cleared his throat “Scuse me sir, I'm sorry to interrupt but I'm going to have to borrow Vox here, thank you” He said with his best new yorker accent “Seriously!” Vox laughed “It can work the other way around” Alastor said “So what, tonight we’re each other’s saviors from social interactions” Vox said “If you’ll allow it box” Alastor implied “Absolutely!” Vox said, they stood outside the doors to the party and looked to each other with a smile and began step one: find the champagne.
----
When vox came out of his trance, he was breathing heavily, ‘that was freaky’ he thought, however he paid it no mind. That possibly could’ve been a mistake.
As the very next day it happened again, this time he was just winding down from the day, he took of his coat, alone in his room. Then it hit him again
----
He was chatting with some demons who ran smaller production companies, looking for contracts and funding, same conversation every time, that when he heard static filled laughter coming up from behind him, the small man vox was talking with immediately noticed the radio demon coming up behind vox “Alastor” he said cheerfully as Alastor took his place beside his friend “hope im not interrupting anything” Alastor remarked, the small demon shook his head nervously “Absolutely not sir” he said “I hope you don’t mind, but I do need to borrow you for a moment vox” Alastor said, slowly creeping a hand to the small of the televisions’ back.
“Of course not, we’ll pick this up again another time” vox said to the smaller, who nodded rapidly and blurted out a few confirmations, Alastor guided vox away from the contract-seekers, they spoke about the people they’d encountered as a light banter until they reached the other overlords, who had situated themselves around some chairs and the facades dropped.
“Dear god that was a lot of people” Vox said, collapsing on the seats with a sigh, Alastor let out a deep exhale “I don’t think I’ve done that much…. People, in years” He commented, at that moment, Carmilla arrived with multiple bottles of alcohol and a supply of shot glasses.
“Now I don’t usually condone this, but its been a long week” she said, the overlords started cheering at the prospect of getting a little drunk, Alastor dished out the shot glasses and they held them all up.
“No shame” Vox announced “no shame” the overlords chimed back, everyone taking their shots, Alastor stepping back once he was done “Oh that’s real vodka” he remarked as the burn of the vodka had taken him by surprise, everyone laughed.
----
Vox doesn’t even remember what he was doing in the first place, before the memory swept over his mind, what was going on, he didn’t even know.
He didn’t even remember that party, until about two seconds ago, it was concerning, no it was horrifying, why was his head fucking with him.
Maybe if he just reboots his system it will stop, that usually works when he starts glitching, just a full system reboot.
Just as he started the reboot, he already had a feeling that it was a bad idea.
----
A bottle of wine later, Alastor, vox and Zestial had ditched their coats to some chair, and now they were just talking shit about the several people they’d spoken to that night, then a sweet tune began to play, vox stood up patting Alastor's knee “Come on up” he said “oh what now” Alastor protested “Dance with me” Vox said holding a hand out, the other overlords told Alastor to join him “Come on, you’ve never danced” Carmilla said “Oh Is that what he told you” Vox said, Alastor put his glass on the table, and grabbed Vox's hands, twirling him then holding him close “Don’t start fights you cant win” He playfully threatened, the overlords laughed, vox laughed, before twirling Alastor out before dipping him down holding his back with both hands, Alastor's on his shoulders “You should take on your own advice” he said softly, Vox could’ve been mistaken, but he could’ve sworn he say a faint blush over the others pale skin. And so the two danced.
The other overlords had no idea that Alastor danced, but vox knew just how much he loved it, the two shocking the others with how quickly they moved and how in rhythm they were, laughing and dancing as though they weren’t in the literal pits of hell.
----
It had been a week since he started getting swarmed with memories.
He wanted answers from Valentino, he wanted to know what was going on.
Fact is that he already knew, Valentinos pheromones were messing around with his head, they’d caused him to lose the friendship he had with Alastor.
The fact that Val had the audacity to think he could treat vox like his whore was outrageous!!!
When he’d confronted Valentino, It only resulted in more pain then he needed, so he ran to the hotel.
Charlie let him in, thankfully, he hadn’t seen Alastor, but he knew that he was there.
One things for sure, which is that he really needed to talk with tall-red-creepy-apparently former friend, Alastor.
He just hoped he wouldn’t have to run.
