Chapter Text
“I… can’t… believe it,” Ellie said speechless. Miriam had just faked a near death experience and she fell for it. “Oh, I’m sorry Ellie,” Gabby said while putting a hand on her shoulder to try and comfort her. Ellie’s devastation was then switched to rage as she stormed off while mumbling. Gabby quickly walked after her and tried to soften the situation.

After a bit of walking Ellie eventually stopped at the beach and sat down. Gabby sat down next to her and said, “Hey I know it hurts and I’m sorry that happened, I think you would be a great fashion designer-“ before Gabby could finish, Ellie interrupted, “It wasn’t just about the fashion designing.” Gabby raised an eyebrow and asked, “Would you like to elaborate,” Ellie hesitated before saying, “The money wouldn’t have just helped me get into fashion designing but just help in general.” Ellie paused before continuing, “I have to work 2 fucking jobs to make rent, I work as a bartender and a shelf stocker at a grocery store. I have to work long hours to the point where I get no sleep on some days.”
Ellie’s eyes started tearing up as she continued ranting, “And I don’t get any appreciation, I just get yelled at! It’s either there’s one can out of place or the drink was prepared wrong, the least they could do is say it politely! It’s gotten to the point where this shit happens,” Ellie yelled moving her bangs out of the way, revealing a scar on her forehead. Gabby gasped seeing it, she had no idea what to say, Ellie did as she explained, “I got this when I was 20, there was this drunk guy who wanted another drink. I cut him off and he smashed a bottle over my head. I’m fucking sick of it.”
“And not to mention that the people here think I’m heartless. I didn’t enjoy doing what I did and I wish there was something else I could do! And Miriam gets on me for not finding another way but meanwhile she pulls that shit! Then there’s-“ before Ellie could finish, Gabby pulled her into a hug, Ellie was shocked before burying her head in Gabby’s shoulder and silently cried.
After about 2 minutes they broke the hug and Gabby said, “I really don’t know how to say sorry without sounding repetitive but I really am. You don’t deserve any of that,” Gabby tried to think of something else to say, then she said, “If you want to talk, I’ll listen.” Ellie wiped her tears and smiled saying, “Thanks Gabby. You said you were from Poland right? Which part?”
“Masovia. But I moved to New York in Harlem.” Ellie’s eyes widen and she said, “I live in Queens.” It was Gabby’s turn to widen her eyes and said, “Holy shit! I can go and visit you, there’s so much we could do! Coming here has been great, you want to exchange numbers?” Ellie smiled and nodded; after exchanged numbers, they were about to walk to the bleachers, Ellie stopped Gabby and said, “Hey, thanks for wanting to just be there for me. You’re honestly one of the best people I’ve ever met.” Gabby smiled and tears threaten to spill. Ellie chuckled and asked, “Are you about to cry?”
“No,” Gabby denied. They both chuckled, then passionately shared a kiss.
