Work Text:
Wilbur had no idea where he was. Two minutes ago, he had been rowing his way to Utah, the next? He was in…some old diner? The floor was a mix of red, blue and white tiles that were dusty and splattered with dirt. The walls were painted in similar shades with distinctly 50s posters.
What in the name of fuck.
“Oh good! You're here! Sit down, come on!” A voice called out to him from the other end of the diner. Something about it shook Wilbur to his core. That sounded like….his voice.
What in the name of fuck.
Wilbur walked towards the voice, finding a booth with three other people sitting at it. All looked an odd amount like him.
One had pale, almost see through skin that had an odd blue glow to it, with wings that were torn and boney, like the phantoms that used to torment Wilbur back in the SMP.
The other was almost as pale, but instead of a bright yellow sweater, he was swaddled in a giant coat. His eyes were sunken, he seemed almost as tired as Wilbur had felt in Pogtopia.
The third, well, he seemed almost unreal, the same way Phil had at times. He had an odd glow about him, and a pristine white lab coat.
Suddenly feeling incredibly uneasy, Wilbur sat the chair at the end of the booth, glancing worriedly between the strange replicas of himself.
“I was wondering when you’d get here! You were supposed to arrive 10 minutes ago!” Labcoat said with a huff.
“Uh, sorry? But where are we? What's going on?”
“Oh right! Wilbur, meet ARGbur and Phantombur!”
The two others waved in turn. Well, Phantombur did, his hand shaking enthusiastically yet somehow almost drifting through the air. ARGbur simply nodded his head a little, a weary look in his eyes.
“I am Godbur, but that doesn't matter! You three are going to be here for a while for a little experiment of mine, so get comfy!”
ARGbur finally seemed to snap to reality, a panicked expression coming over him. “How long, exactly?”
Godbur rubbed his chin, humming thoughtfully, before perking up with an answer. “Oh, only a year or two! Don't worry!”
With that, Godbur faded out of view, leaving a stunned group of apparently the same person at a diner table.
And then the chaos started.
ARGbur started muttering something to himself that Wilbur couldn't quite make out, while Phantombur began darting around the diner. Wilbur assumed he was looking for a way out, but the doors seemed locked, and all the windows showed outside was a void.
Sighing, Wilbur headed behind the counter to make himself a cup of coffee.
It was going to be a long few years.
