Signs that mean I Love You

Summary:

Years since the battle between Godzilla and Kong, the two have learnt to co-exist peacefully. Goji may huff and puff sometimes about the scar on his thigh, but there was no bad blood. The Titans and the Monsters retreat to Hollow Earth with Godzilla to live a reassuring, peaceful life amongst the subterranean ecosystem with their Kings. Though not always peaceful, as the humans tend to come and go as they please using their Aerial Vehicles to say hello to King Kong. Goji often watches from the distance and notices how Kong and Jia like to communicate unlike any other species. Using their fingers.

Godzilla feels confused by this, amongst a lot of other thoughts and feelings he has for the huge ape. But the way Jia and Kong use their hands to say hello and their goodbyes, Goji doesn't think its a bad idea to learn himself, even with the lack of a finger.

Maybe it would impress the King of Hollow Earth.

Notes:

first kongzilla fic pls be nice
this takes place long after gvk with Godzilla's evolved form in gxk because his longer arms are way more practical for this idea lol

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Observation

Chapter Text

Hollow Earth was now populated with Titans and Monsters from there and far.

Each monster had a purpose here. There was no doubt you’d find your place amongst strange faces and discover where you truly belong away from human civilization.

Here you could be a monster. There were no boundaries, no limits.

It was also beneficial for the humans way above. No longer having to worry about constant destruction, or the King of Monsters barging through cities to save them.

He, too, lived a peaceful life down under. Retreating after the battle with Kong many years ago, the Titans and Monsters followed him down into Hollow Earth, the prehistoric subterranean was the perfect environment, and Goji was more than happy to stay down here.

At least now he could get some well deserved rest after being constantly awoken by the humans to aid their rescue.

And that’s just what he did.

Unlike him, though, Kong was pretty active amongst the Titans and Beasts, often exploring with Jia and her humans when she would come to visit once every often. They use special aircrafts to find their way here.

As long as they steered away from the other Monsters, they were fine.

Kong always took them someplace safe in the Throne room. Nobody was allowed there without his strict permission.

Except for Goji, for some reason. Perhaps it was because Goji was the King of Monsters, which granted him special permission to enter Kong’s throne room without verbal instruction. But who knew! Because Goji certainly didn’t, and knew better than to overstep boundaries… Sometimes.

-

It was one of those days.

The days where everything was pure manic around Hollow Earth.

Goji was barely waking up when the piercing sound of two Warbats fighting outside was echoing throughout his cave.

They were vicious creatures, and after hearing that Kong almost got his ass kicked by one, he hasn’t stopped chuckling over it since,

Godzilla snarls from within his cave, sending an echoey warning to the fighting Warbats outside who quickly flee from the King's territory. They weren’t too fond of getting on his bad side, especially if they had just woken him up.

Gojira gets up from where he lays in his makeshift nest, (It was an ugly sight, he didn’t exactly know how to make it comfortable but Mothra did her best to help him) and stomps his weight out of his cave into the daylight.

Godzilla blinks away the sleep until he can observe the clearing comfortably, everything looks as normal as normal should be. The fleeing Warbats from a few minutes ago were fighting again just a little further along the territory, away from his reach.

He decided to let them be. Goji wasn’t really feeling like messing with the food chain right now.

Ever since shedding his skin after hibernation, his new evolved form felt a lot lighter, a lot stronger. Goji’s arms were certainly longer, which made it a lot easier to reach things now. Consuming the geothermal radiation does wonders for a Kaiju like him.

It was a lot hotter down in Hollow Earth than it was above ground, but lucky for him after shedding new scales, he was able to cool down a lot faster. Goji did miss the long stretches of sea water that they have above ground when he wanted to cool down, though. Every so often he wanted to go back up for a long swim, but he didn't want to draw in the unnecessary attention from the humans. He'll make due for now.

-

Godzilla stomps along the territory of Hollow Earth with long strides of his legs. He wasn’t too sure where he was going, but he felt like walking to see where his legs would take him.

On his walk there were a lot of Monsters fighting with teeth and claws, and it wasn't his job to step in when they did so. The food chain was something nobody could mess with, it was mother nature, even he knew that. Though there were times where the thrill of a good fight overwhelmed him. Just for fun.

The King got a few bows of heads while he walked by, and he acknowledged silently with a little nod of his snout. Again, the attention was unwanted but he still tried to be nice.

The huge Kaiju walked for a long time, scaling up hills and wading through small lakes of water and instinctively found himself nearing the Throne room, the center of Hollow Earth where everything was bustling and busy.

Goji wonders to himself quietly why he’s making the trek all the way over here. There was no particular reason why he wanted to come here, nor did he have anything to discuss with King Kong.

But the closer he approached he noticed a HEAV (Hollow Earth Aerial Vehicle) parked just outside the entrance of the cavern.

Humans must be back again, for whatever reason it may be.

Godzilla understood Kong had a strong connection to the humans. They were a lot like him when it came to intelligence and mannerisms. They were creatures he could talk to and relate to. Something close to his kind, for company.

They never spoke with their mouths, the humans. At least, not to Kong.

Godzilla approached the entrance and peeked from around the corner of the arched entrance, deciding to be a little nosy this morning. Goji often left Kong and the humans alone when they visited, but today he felt like watching.

Jia, the tiny human, is standing there in front of Kong, who is no longer sitting on his throne but instead sitting on the ground in front of her.

They were talking, but with their hands.

The odd movements they were doing confused Godzilla. He understood nothing of what was being discussed. Which frustrated him in a way, because he liked to know what was going on. But when it came to the conversations between Kong and the humans, he was completely stumped.

Jia had a special kinship bond with Kong, they were like family. Everywhere she goes, the little girl carries her doll of the big Ape. Jia was holding it now, tucked against her forearm and her chest while she was signing with her hands.

Ilene was there too, as usual. She always accompanied Jia as her adopted parent. She was signing too, crouched next to her daughter with a smile on her face. They were all smiling, even Kong.

Godzilla felt his mouth twitch for a moment before scrunching at his nose and turning his head away for a moment. What was he doing? Why was he eavesdropping on them like this?

But he was so intrigued.

The way Kong could speak to these humans just using these signs.

Something as simple as bending a finger or waving his paw a certain way, and they would understand his every word.

Gojira observed how Kong put his four fingers to his chin, and pushed them away from his face. It was a simple motion, but Jia was smiling, and returned the gesture.

Godzilla took this as an opportunity to step back and walk away, leaving Kong alone with the humans to continue their conversation, but while he’s walking, he couldn’t help but think of that gesture again. They did it a few times, so it must be something important.

During his trek back to the cavern, Goji puts his three claws to his chin and pushes them away, in an awkward motion that didn’t look quite right, but he tried anyway.

He repeated this gesture a few times on the walk back, wondering curiously what it could mean. It was an intimate way to communicate, something special between you and another where no noise had to be uttered to understand what was being said.

Godzilla liked it.
