Work Text:
“Alright, that’s enough!” Michael announced, slamming a coffee cup onto the desk where Jeremy had passed out over his textbook. “You’re drinking this.”
“Wh-wha-” Jeremy groaned, “Michael?” He lifted his head. His hair was a mess - greasy and frizzy and getting far too long, always falling in his face. He had drool on his cheek, and probably on his books, and he was slowly blinking up at Michael with those big blue eyes - and Michael had to look away.
“Here,” Michael said, nudging the coffee closer to him, “Please, for my sake, take it.”
“Mmn, I hate coffee,” Jeremy grumbled, hiding his head in his hands.
“Jeremy come on, you’ve been a zombie all week,” Michael was practically pleading now. Jeremy had been running himself ragged since arriving at college, and his lack of sleep and constant exhaustion were becoming worrying. He hadn’t touched a soda or energy drink since junior year, and he refused to find an alternative source of caffeine. “You haven’t moved since I left for class this morning.”
“This morning?” Jeremy mumbled, “But you were just…”
He suddenly sprang to attention, eyes wide and panicked. “Wait, shit, Michael, what time is it?”
Michael rolled his eyes. “Relax dude, your test isn’t for another 30 minutes. Now would you please take a sip? I promise you’ll like this one.”
Jeremy pouted, eying the cup skeptically. “Just because you work at Dunkin’ now doesn’t make you a coffee expert.”
“No, but I am a Jeremy expert. Just trust me on this, okay?” He still looked hesitant. “Do you really want to take your test half asleep?”
Jeremy sighed, but finally picked up the coffee, taking a small sip.
His eyes lit up. “Oh my god, Michael this is actually tolerable!”
“3 cream, 4 sugar, and never ask me to order that monstrosity for you again.”
Jeremy jumped up from his seat, wrapping his arms around Michael. “You’re amazing, thank you,” he muttered into Michael’s neck.
Michael softly shoved his friend away. “It’s just coffee,” He said, grateful that he didn’t blush as easily as Jeremy, “Now, get to your test.”
Jeremy gave a quick nod, gathered his books and headed out the door. The second Michael heard it click shut, he collapsed onto his bed, screaming into his pillow.
