Summary:

Ace draws in his free time.

I'm trying to get over my fear of writing, so I wrote something short to post on AO3! Feedback is greatly encouraged as I am a new writer. Thank you for reading!

Work Text:

Ace draws in his free time.

Most days, it’s nothing more than a half-hearted doodle on the table. Marco doesn’t appreciate it, especially when Ace’s fork marks depict him with a pineapple head and a stick figure.

But sometimes, as he looks across the ocean horizon, he sees a canvas of freedom he hopes to ignite in flame. A reminder that he, a son of Whitebeard, can forge his own destiny. A future that he hopes to embrace when he crowns his father as Pirate King.

Ace drew in his free time.

The Whitebeards left a gap at the table. It hurt to sand the wood which was the last reminder of their fallen brother. A reminder of the times they shared arguing over bounty posters and listening to his stories of his enthusiastic brother, whom he lovingly called Luffy.

There were no more strokes to remind them of the brother they had lost.
But all that remained wasn’t physical.

They would carry on his legacy and forge their own canvas from the one he started.
