Chapter Text
Alevc’Xander wasn’t an elf that needed much things. After years trying to stay sane in a sugarcane field as a slave, dealing with the idea of being this mythical vessel after surviving a catastrophic event, that barely no one survives, seems easy. But only on the surface of course, because the sound from his shackles never leaves his pointy ears.
The red hair falling in his elven ears, his tan skin, the height a little bigger for an elf and the muscles shaped because of his work and rogue skills. He had two almost perfect lines of scars that crossed his cheeks at each side, starting on his mouth corners and ending behind his earlobes. His light green eyes were tired, he didn’t want to try to sleep again. The two companions were sleeping, the night maybe in its middle…
He took his bowl and he got out of the Temple of Eothas to shoot some arrows without thinking too much. His mind was so loud, everything was making him sick. The last talk he had with that witch was something so disturbing…
Alevc’Xander was afraid since this crazy thing had started.
His hand was shaking. His breathing was fast.
-Watcher? -The sweet voice called him back to reality.
-Yes? -The red hair looked at the other elf.
Aloth was awake and stood at the staircase, looking to the other elf with concern.
-Problems of sleep? -Aloth was with his hair completely loose on his shoulders, his skin was so pale, he almost looked like a ghost in the moonlight. -You don’t seem to sleep much lately…
-Thinking… -Alevc gave him a half smile, his voice more cocky than he wanted. -And you?
-Same. -The wizard looked at him with those pretty blue eyes. He sits at the last step. -Must be difficult to sleep with the voices… Or… The fear of trying to find some souls, lost and afraid and… Don't think that could be someone you know… Or you one day.
Alevc sits close to Aloth, only to feel the smell from ashes and herbs he exalted.
-Did ever think of the possibility of being a Watcher? -The rogue asks, looking at the lovely face of Aloth.
-No. -He answered by biting his lower lip and squeezing his slender fingers. -I’m not that special like you, Watcher.
-Nonsense… You’re the one who can do magic…
-Everyone can do magic… It’s only a matter of trying.
-Oh, it is? -Alevc stood up in front of the wizard. -Teach me!
-I beg your pardon? -He blinked slowly.
-Teach me one! Maybe those missiles? -Alevc made a pose, his hands pointed to the tree of the hanged, his chin up in a proud feeling. -I could use some of these things… Just the light exploding the enemies while I’m hidden in the dark…
He looked at Aloth and laughed hard. The wizard’s face was frozen and without any expression. It was an idea, maybe he loved, maybe he hated, and that mist of innocence, patience, misunderstanding and rage was his favorite look on the pale elf.
-You’re definitely special, Alevc. -Aloth answered by taking his grimoire and opening. -I never teached before, so it may be a little strange at first.
-I’m going to be your best student! -The redhair elf looks at the pages full of writings and drawings. -When do I get a book?
-You don’t, only if you use spells that need this kind of component.
-Ahn. -Alevc sounded sad. -And a wand?
-For missiles you don’t need.
-Ashes?
-No need.
-A wizard hat? -Aloth looked at the other elf's face.
-I’m already regretting this idea. -Aloth cleaned his throat. -First, you have to learn how we control magic. Then, equations, gestures, vocals and then we can go to practice.
-Okay teacher!
Every night, after their 4 hours of sleep, the two elfs started this little partnership, exchanging knowledge, training, but also talkings, fears and when they realized, feelings.
