Work Text:
Yellow wasn't such an uncommon favorite color. Humans loved it for dandelions and daffodils, sunlight and sunflowers. It was the color of light and happiness. It was proven to have an affect on the humans - to make them happier by simply seeing the color. But that wasn't why Aziraphale loved it.
Aziraphale loved yellow like he loved his bookshop - it was calm and familiar and something wholly welcoming. Aziraphale loved yellow like he loved the Bentley that often sat parked on the curb just outside, awaiting the next adventure when it would be needed once again. Aziraphale loved yellow like he loved eating and breathing - he didn't *need* it, of course, but deep down he enjoyed it more than an immortal angel should have.
Aziraphale loved yellow like he loved Crowley. It was something that came easily to him, without much thought or effort. He hadn't even realized it at first - it crept in slowly before seating itself in some hidden hollow of his heart. He knew he loved yellow but it took far too long for him to connect the pieces to the demon.
The demon that sauntered behind him, always following him no matter what danger he was leading him to. The demon that moved books and reshelved them, despite having not read a book in at least a hundred years. The demon that would lounge across multiple chairs in the bookshop, watching his angel from beneath those glasses. The glasses that hid his yellow, demon eyes from the world. And from Aziraphale.
Aziraphale loved yellow - the color of his demon's eyes.
Aziraphale loved Crowley. He was calm and familiar and welcoming to only him. He was bright and warm and simply seeing him was enough to make Aziraphale happier.
He was all things yellow - Aziraphale's favorite color.
