Notes:

Hey all! This is a diary-format retelling of the adventures of my Warrior of Light, Satora Lhansi. I love her...

I've been writing these somewhat regularly over on cohost (@satora-lhansi) and my friends have encouraged me to cross-post them here, so... here they are!

I hope you enjoy!

Chapter Text

Mother came to me today with two gifts. The first was this diary. She told me that as it’s my diary I can write whatever I want in it, but she would like me to use it. The other gift was a sack of gil that she had apparently been saving for years. Ever since shortly after the Calamity…

She told me that I can do whatever I would like with the money, it’s my 18th name day after all, but then she pulled out the tome I had been given on that day five years ago. All along, she knew about my desire to go out and learn the magicks that saved our lives. The hopes that I could protect my family. A desire that has grown ever stronger as I’ve seen the Twelveswood change around us, becoming ever more hostile. As Gridania has doubled down on their hatred of our kind, increasingly refusing trade with us.

If I could just be stronger, I could help my family hunt better, survive better. If I could find work, I could send money home to them.

Mother knew this. She wants me to pursue this dream. Now I am on board a chocobo carriage leading me to the western shores of Eorzea, where I will take a boat to Limsa Lominsa. There, I can take this old Arcanist’s tome and enroll in the guild there. I can learn magick. I can be strong for my family, find work, send them the money we need.

It was hard to say goodbye to everyone. They’re all more than capable of taking care of each other, but times have been hard enough as-is. I’ll miss them either way. Hawu and mother will take care of the home. Sami will lead Poki and Lho in their hunts. Sato’a hasn’t spoken to us in years, but Sato’li and Sato’sae check in occasionally. They bring news with them, and they help our family to trade without having to go through Gridania.

As sad as it is to be leaving them behind, I’m excited as well. I’ve never left the Twelveswood before. There’s so much to see. So much to learn. Who knows what I’ll get up to out there? What kinds of jobs I’ll find for myself? Just a couple of suns until I arrive in Limsa and can enroll in the Arcanist’s guild.

I’m going to try to write in this diary regularly. Maybe when I visit home, I can show my family and they can see everything I’ve done.
