Work Text:

They had landed on an island not that far from Laugh Tale. With Bepo and Law on board the sunny, in pursuit of the Blackbeard Pirates in an effort to get back those of Law’s crew that they had needed to leave behind they weren’t in any state of mind to stay somewhere for long.

But this island had apparently been isolated from everything that had been going on. They had no idea who Luffy or Law were, hadn’t heard about the War of the Best, and only knew Shanks as a Yonko because he had landed on their island once and had been an amazing party animal. None of the people they had talked to seemed hurried, except when Luffy momentarily tapped into Gear 5th. Then it came out that these people were religious and prayed to Nika all the time. Him appearing before him seemed like a sign, or so they said. Which is what put Robin, Nami and Law on edge after they wanted to make sure Luffy wouldn’t be able to leave the island again.

Law had a hold of the other captain before the daughter of the chieftain could come close with a wicked look in her eyes. He and Robin had heard her talking to her father about how if Nika-sama was married to her he couldn’t leave. The island also had very odd ways of marrying someone, all Law needed to do now was kiss Luffy before she was able to as the conditions were met.

“Please play along.”

Luffy blinked, before his eyes grew wide as Law pressed their lips together. Finding that it wasn’t half as bad as he had expected it to be.

It was the screeching of the chieftain’s daughter that had them breaking up with Law grinning at her.

“I don’t feel like sharing my husband with you, girly. Not only that, but I can assure you Nika-sama won’t like it if you take away his freedom.”

This had the other Strawhats going from gaping at Law, to glaring at the chieftain and his daughter. Zoro had a hand on his swords, where Sanji was tapping his shoes to make sure they were sitting right. Ready for whatever it was that would be going on now.

“I know Taroa wouldn’t want to leave.”

Giggling as he was, Luffy beamed at Law.

Law had to stop a sappy look from coming to his face at hearing that. He had known after Wano that he wouldn’t be able to let Luffy go. There was too much that had happened, too much that he knew that there would always be a connection. He hadn’t planned on this happening, but he also wasn’t about to let some isolated tribe take away Luffy’s freedom.

“I very well can’t now, now can I?”

While he meant his ship and still missing crew, Luffy still beamed at him all that brightly. Zoro and Sanji both patted him on the shoulder, almost as if they had seen this coming. In a way it could very well be the case.

Sighing, Law guessed that he should just as well come clean on his feelings. A hand slipping into his own, before Luffy smiled and leaned in to press their lips together made it clear that he didn’t need to do anything. Luffy was more than able to see what had been there all along.

Wrapping his arms around his now husband, Law shook his head, “With you there is no boring life now is there?”

Shaking his head, Luffy pressed closer, “You wouldn’t want it any other way!”

Pressing their lips together again, Law hummed as he pulled back, “True that. Let’s get going then.”

They turned and made it to the Sunny and out of there with a coop the burst, Nami making sure to mark that island as one that they wouldn’t be stopping in the future. The only good thing that came out of it was Law finally opening up about his feelings and getting rewarded for it.
