The tavern was aglow with soft, warm light and chatter that converged together into a low buzz in Karin’s ears. She looked around, her eyes settling on the quest board while wondering if there was any work to be had.
She really shouldn’t have drank so much so early in the night… Maybe she was too hasty…
It’s hard being a young, budding monster hunter… Karin hasn’t had any work other than getting rid of small, pest-like creatures that any lay person can deal with, no problem. It was almost insulting…
Ah, well… There wasn’t much use in lamenting over it, since she was just sitting at the bar, kicking her feet as she downs her second tankard of lukewarm beer. Karin stretched in her seat, her shoulder length hair falling over her shoulder as she settled forward onto her elbows.
Tonight was looking like a bust… Karin thought sourly. Here she was, all excited about possibly getting her first gig and it was likely that she would be stuck clearing out farms for the rest of her career! It was just her luck. She was in debt from buying all her equipment and the guild has been breathing down her neck for weeks now… If Karin doesn’t get a job soon…
Well-
She downs the rest of her beer and makes her way over to the quest board. The moment she stands up, Karin feels all the alcohol she’s downed rush to her head. She tried to shake it off but it lingered. Ugh, great- Karin leaned down and idly looked at the posted quests. There’s actually work to choose from!
Maybe her luck will actually turn around! Karin was excited for all the possibilities that lay before her and in all her naivety, she really thought that she would easily make a name for herself and get rich in the process, not knowing exactly how dirty this business could really be underneath the surface.
