Chapter 1: Mum

Chapter Text

Willow walked into one of the most well known regression shops in town, Little Ones R Us . If you regressed, this was one of the biggest best hotspots to go to get your supplies. She couldn’t help the smile blooming on her face as she saw all the items around her. She and Luz were going to be hanging out together in just a bit, just the two of them. She could not wait. She loved Gus and she was finally getting along very nicely with Amity lately, but she hadn’t had her alone time with Luz in a long time.

When they first started hanging out, they would always be together, but ever since Luz had gotten Amity to calm her bullying and helped her become a better person..err witch, Amity was always glued to Luz’s side. So it was nice to finally have Luz all to herself again. Not that she was possessive, but she missed the old days when the two of them could just hang together without Luz being distracted by someone else.

She wanted to get her cute regressor friend a cute little gift. So she found herself here in this shop to find something special for her friend. She walked along the aisles filled with many things that Luz would probably spend hours gushing about. Maybe she should let Luz know about this place, or even Eda to bring Luz here herself. Then again, if Willow told Amity about it, she could buy Luz a lot of things. She came from a rich family and got a decent allowance once a week after all, and knowing Amity she wouldn’t mind spoiling their little girl. Maybe she and Amity could come here together and pick Luz out some things. That sounded like it could be fun.

Willow was brought out of her thoughts when someone approached her side. Looking up she saw the witch who was standing behind the counter when she first walked in. She was positive this was the owner, the shopkeeper.

“May I help you look for something?” the shopkeeper asked with a kind smile.

“I was looking for a gift for my friend, I was thinking of a pacifier maybe. Can you direct me to where they are?” Willow asked, shifted her bag higher on her shoulder. She felt like she would definitely be able to afford a pacifier.

“Yes of course, if you will, follow me,” the shopkeeper directed her towards the other end of the shop where there was a very large array of pacifiers. In the same aisle were pacifier clips and pacifier cases as well. Perfect!

“Thank you so much,” Willow told the man with a smile.

“Of course,” the shopkeeper told her before heading back towards the register to wait.

Willow looked at all the pacifiers here. They came in many sizes and colors. There were even ones with switchable nipple materials. All of Luz’s pacifiers had rubber nipples, so she was just going to stick with that type of pacifier. The colors and designs of many of the pacifiers were adorable. She found one quickly that she knew Luz would take a liking to. Picking up the plastic casing, she brought it closer to her and ran her thumb over it. The shell was a light brown in color with a tiny dark brown owl in the middle of the shield. The little handle of the pacifier was a shade of mossy green. It didn’t even seem to be that costly either. Something she had heard good things about this place was how affordable and durable the items were.

“Luz will love this pacifier,” Willow spoke confidently yet quietly to herself as she clutched it in her hand. The plastic casing around the pacifier crinkled slightly under the light pressure.

Willow turned to look at the pacifier clips to check their prices and from what she saw, she could definitely afford to also get Luz a pacifier clip to go along with her new pacifier. So she looked among the many clips and picked out a simple yet nice looking one. The clip part that would attach to the wearer's shirt was silver colored which was connected to a lovely light green fabric with red leaves decorating it and a small white circular cord that would attach to the pacifier itself. It was perfect!

‘I can’t wait to see her reaction to these darling things,’ Willow thought proudly, excited to pay for the items and find a good moment to give Luz her new gifts.

Willow held both things in her hand and made her way up to the register where the shopkeeper was on his scroll, when he noticed Willow approaching, he poofed his scroll away and rang up the items she placed down on the counter, smile never leaving their face.

“Is there a way I could possibly get these wrapped up? It’s going to be a gift and she loves opening gifts in the colorful paper,” Willow told the man, hoping that he did wrapping specials.

“Of course, any preference on the paper's colors, or would you like an arrangement of random colors?” he asked.

“An arrangement of random colors will work nicely, thank you.”

The shopkeeper nodded and nicely wrapped the pacifier and the pacifier clip separately among many colored squares of tissue paper and then placed both gifts inside a pale baby blue bag in which he pulled the sides of the bag together, rolled them downwards and taped the top closed.

“There you are, your total will be twenty nine snails please.”

Willow grabbed her money pouch from inside her bag and pulled out the correct amount, handing it over to the shopkeeper. He counted the money and gave her change back.

“I hope your friend likes their gifts. Come again,” thes shopkeeper said as he pushed the gift bag closer to her.

“I think she’ll love them. Also this place is amazing, there is no way I’m not coming back,” Willow giggled as she grabbed the gift bag and gently set it in her bag along with her money pouch.

With that she waved the shopkeeper a farewell and left the shop, smiling even wider than when she first arrived. She could not wait to see Luz’s reaction to her gift.

Making her way through town and towards the owl house, Luz’s residence, she gained a hop and a skip in her step from how giddy she was feeling. Every once in a while she would glance in her bag and see the gift sitting there and she wanted so badly to give it to Luz right this second. She wanted to wait for the perfect time to give it to her though.

Soon Willow found herself walking through the woods, down the pathway that led to the owl house. It didn’t take long for the house to come into view. She quickened her pace and allowed another massive smile to overtake her features when she noticed Luz already outside of the house playing around with Hooty. Or Uncle Hooty as Luz called him.

‘She seems to be in her little space already, perfect!’ Willow thought when she heard the girls’ shrill shrieks of enjoyment and giggles that shook her thin frame as Hooty wrapped around her, hooting happily at hearing Luz so happy.

“Luz!” Willow called out when she was close enough to be heard, waving when Luz looked her way. The way Luz’s face further brightened simply made Willow’s day that much better. How could it not when Luz was the sun.

“Wiwwow!” Luz shouted happily, a smile beaming from cute round ear to her other cute round ear.

Hooty lowered Luz down to the ground. Her sneakered feet landed gently in the dirt before Hooty unwrapped himself from around Luz, allowing her easy access to climb over his tube body. Hooty decided to go inside real quick to let Eda know that one of Luz’s school friends was now with her.

Luz immediately booked it straight for Willow. Willow opened her arms wide and waited, knowing Luz was going to jump into her awaiting arms. Luz loved to literally jump into hugs, so Willow was ready with her feet planted sturdily to the ground.

Luz jumped, as Willow knew she would and her body crashed right into Willow’s. Willow caught her smaller friend easily, using the momentum of Luz’s leap to spin them both around in a circle. Luz yipped with glee at the spin and hugged Willow tightly so that she wouldn’t be dropped. Not that she thought Willow would ever drop her. Willow was strong, so she knew she was safe in her arms.

Willow stopped spinning and felt Luz wrapping her legs around her waist, curling tighter to her. It was so adorable that Willow couldn’t help but hug Luz tighter to her. She just held Luz for a bit, The light breeze blew, causing Willow’s nose to be tickled by a few of Luz’s hair that blew in the wind.

“How’s my little bean doing today?” Willow cooed as she slightly shifted Luz to make sure she had an arm under her rear and an arm coiled around Luz’s back to keep her upright and in place.

“Good! I pay wif mama n den I pay wif Hooty an’ now you here too!” Luz spoke with a heavy lisp present in her speech. From just her speech alone, Willow knew she was feeling pretty young, but still old enough to be talking still.

“That sounds fun,” Willow told Luz, slightly bouncing on her heels and causing Luz to giggle at the bouncing motion.

“I just learned how to do something new with my vines. No thorns, I promise. I call it the vine jumper, it’s more of a hands on experience. Would you like to try the vine jumper out?” Willow asked Luz, excited for Luz to try it.

Luz in turn nodded excitedly, in turn making Willow even more excited.

“Okay I have to put you down for it to work, but it’s really fun,” Willow said, adding in the last part when Luz pouted about having to be put down. It was no secret, Luz loved to be held and carried around.

“Otay,” Luz said, unwinding her legs from around Willow and being allowed to be put back down onto the ground. Luz however did cling to Willow’s simple puffy dress shirt that she was wearing.

Willow found a perfect spot, right underneath a tree and brought Luz over to the spot. She gently unclung Luz’s fingers from her shirt and took a few steps away. Luz looked confused as she stood where Willow guided her to. Not sure on what she was supposed to be doing.

“Ready?” Willow asked with a grin.

Luz’s confusion immediately turned to that of excitement once again.

“Yeah yeah!” Luz cheered. Eyes bright and shining.

Willow made a spell circle and vines that didn’t have thorns emerged from the ground, wrapped around Luz’s thighs and waist, going underneath her rear and creating an almost seat like thing around her and attached to the tree limbs above them, bringing Luz’s feet off from the ground and holding her in the air.

“Try jumping,” Willow suggested as Luz looked down at the vines wrapped around her and then glanced up to the vines that were wrapped around the tree branch above her.

Luz stuck her tongue out as she started bouncing lightly and eventually got enough momentum in her bounce for her feet to touch the ground and give her a bit more bounce to go back up and gently come back down to the ground. Luz clung her hands to the vines at the sides as she continued to be bounced up and down!

“Weee!” Luz squealed happily once she got the bouncing part down and knew what she was supposed to do.

“Dis is fun!” Luz shrilled happily as she continued to jump.

Willow watched, her cheeks and jaw hurt from how long and how largely she was smiling as she watched Luz enjoy her vine jumper. Willow couldn’t stop herself from smiling, and she didn’t stop herself from continuing to smile, even when her face began to hurt from smiling. This was an adorable sight. It was also a good way to help Luz use up some of her pent up energy, which she clearly had a lot of.

Willow brought out her scroll to take a quick video of Luz as she jumped in the jumper, shrieking in joy as she bounced up and down repetitively. Willow knew that Luz likes repetitive movements and motions like the vine jumper, being rocked, having hands card through her hair, having her hair brushed, and having her back or tummy rubbed to name a few things.

After she had taken the video she sent it off to all of their mutual friends who knew of Luz’s regression, knowing it would be a treat for them all to receive.

Luz bounced for almost twenty whole minutes! To have that kind of energy was amazing in its own way. Every once in a while Luz’s bounces started to slow a bit and her legs gave less and less strength in jumping. Luz eventually slowed to a stop with a mighty yawn and held out her arms and made grabby hands towards Willow.

Willow was just shocked that Luz bounced for as long as she did. Truly, Luz’s amounts of energy was incredible.

“Out mum. Mum mum out?” Luz asked, bringing a fisted hand up to one of her eyes and rubbed at it.

Willow’s eyes widened and she thought she heard wrong. What did Luz just say? Was she hearing things?

“Huh?? Say that again, little bean?” Willow asked, her voice wavering as she hoped Luz said what she thought she heard the first time. It couldn’t be…could it?

“I wan mum mum to pick me up!” Luz called out as she brought her grabby hands out once again and started kicking her legs out. She seemed to be getting a tad bit restless from all that jumping. But what Luz had called her echoed in her mind over and over.

“I’m mum?” Willow asked as she pointed towards herself, slowly doing a spell circle to recede the vines, allowing Luz a gentle and soft descent to the ground before they went back into the ground themselves. Luz seemed to stagger a bit, having to stand on her aching and tired legs.

“Yeah, Wiwwow is mum,” Luz said with a toothy smile showing off her nubby and non-sharp teeth. Luz’s teeth matched her personality, they were tiny and adorable. Whereas witches had sharp fangs.

Willow felt her eyes sting with unshed tears as she took a couple small steps towards Luz because she looked a bit unsteady on her feet and Willow did not want her to fall over and get hurt.

“Mum, sad?” Luz asked, looking sad now herself, taking a step towards Willow in return, knees shaking under her weight. Luz would fall if she didn’t hurry up and get to her side.

Willow had also noted that Luz seemed to sort of mimic others emotions a bit when she was feeling little. If someone was sad, she got sad. If someone was happy and smiled, Luz would return that smile ten fold. The only emotion that was debatable was when someone was angry. Luz would either become scared, or even throw a tantrum herself. But for the most part, she got scared when someone was angry around her.

“No. No, little bean. I’m not sad. These are happy tears. I’m happy to be your mum,” Willow croaked happily as she allowed a tear to fall.

Luz cracked a small smile of her own before holding her arms out towards Willow. Willow took the last couple of steps towards Luz and pulled her into a hug right as the girl's legs gave out from under her. Willow held Luz tightly to her and allowed all of her weight to lean into her.

“I love you sweetie,” Willow told her sincerely.

“I wuv you too mum,” Luz whispered, hitching a leg up as a sign that she wanted to be picked up.

“Let’s head inside and go into your room. I have a present for you,” Willow told Luz as she grabbed a hold of Luz’s leg and felt Luz weakly hop up with her other leg, bringing both legs to curl around Willow’s waist. Willow tightened her hold on her smaller friend.

“Pwesent!” Luz lisped, kicking her legs excitedly in Willow’s grasp. Luckily Willow had a good grip on Luz already and she didn’t mean to brag, but she did have some decent muscles to keep her from dropping Luz, even when she was feeling wiggly.

Huh, the mention of a present seemed to bring back Luz’s energy too. It was just too adorable. Willow held onto Luz and walked over to where she had placed her bag down, using her magic to bring a vine up out of the ground and bring the strap of her bag up to her hand. Now with her bag and Luz in her arms, she found herself walking back over to the owl house, lightly tapping her fingers against Luz’s back.

“Yupp, I can’t wait for you to open it!” Willow exclaimed, Luz’s excitement got her excitement going again. Like she wasn’t just jumping up and down in a vine jumper for the past half hour. She found herself thinking once again how incredible Luz’s stamina and energy were.

Willow still couldn’t get the echoes of Luz calling her mum out of her head. She wanted to scream at the tree tops that she was a mum. She knew she was one out of many of Luz’s caregivers and friends. But she had a title now, she was mum. It boosted her confidence a bit to be called such a title, to be trusted to be called said title, it was an amazing feeling. She thought about the word, ‘mum,’ loving how it rolled off her tongue when she thought it. Mum. She was a mum. How incredibly touching that moment had been to her. She would never in her life forget about this day. Because this was the day that she became a mum.

Hooty swung open the door without willow having to ask him to open up for them, he immediately closed the door when his eyes caught sight of a fly nearby.

“A new fly friend! Hello friend!” Hooty’s shout coming out muffled from behind the closed door. For that Willow was thankful. She was okay with Hooty and his presence, but boy could he talk for hours, and she really wanted to just give Luz her present and see her reaction. Maybe she would hear his story some other time, but for now, she wanted to focus on Luz.

The living room was empty of Eda, Willow wondered where Luz’s mama was. Could be in her own bedroom, or the kitchen. She wasn’t quite too sure as of right now.

King was taking one of his multiple daily naps on the couch, tail twitching slightly as he dreamed about whatever it was that he dreamed about.

Willow shrugged and made her way upstairs and towards Luz’s bedroom. Going up the stairs with Luz in her arms, it was no big feat for her. She would even go as far to say that it was simple for her. She liked being a bit stronger than her other friends, it made her feel unique and made her feel good about herself.

She made it to the top of the stairs without breaking a sweat and ventured into Luz’s bedroom, shutting the door halfway, but not completely shutting it. She knew that Luz did not like having her door fully shut.

Willow stepped over the edge of the blanket nest and lowered herself to the very comfortable blanket nest on the ground and cradled Luz in her lap as she brought her bag closer to her side and grabbed the gift bag from inside. She used her levitation magic to move her backpack to the outside of the blanket nest so that it would not be in the way. Luz all the while, watching Willow with awe. Willow was still in awe at how Luz was still in awe at seeing magic being performed.

“Here you go, little bean. I hope you like it,” Willow told her as she placed the gift bag in Luz’s lap.

Luz looked up at Willow as if asking ‘is it really for me?’ Willow only nodded in encouragement and watched Luz as her smile grew larger. Luz struggled with the tape at the top of the bag in which Willow easily took off for her, sitting back and watching as Luz unrolled the bag’s top and opened the gift bag. She reached inside the gift bag and grabbed the two wrapped items from the bag. She began tearing into the many colored pieces of tissue paper on what Willow could tell was the pacifier. Watching Luz’s expression when she tore off the last paper away from the gift made her day.

Luz gasped as she inhaled a gulp of air before looking at Willow with wide eyes.

“New paci for me?” Luz asked, sounding like Willow had just did the most amazing thing ever.

“Yupp, it’s all for you, little one. Want me to open the package while you open the other gift?” Willow asked politely. Already knowing the answer, but asked anyways.

“Yes peas, mum mum,” Luz lisped as she handed it over to Willow and then picked up the second wrapped gift.

Willow easily pried the plastic off from around the pacifier and held the new pacifier by the handle as she watched Luz completely tear the paper off from the second gift, watching with bated breath.

“Wassit?” Luz asked as she held the pacifier clip out to Willow. Confusion clear on her face, even though Willow has sworn she had seen Luz using a pacifier clip before. Although it did differ a bit from the ones she had seen Luz use. That was alright though.

“That, my little bean of pure cuteness, is called a pacifier clip. It makes sure that you don’t lose your paci,” Willow explained.

Luz looked amazed and watched as Willow gently took the pacifier clip from Luz’s hand and showed her how the pacifier attached to one side, showing her the pacifier dangling from the fabric and then pinched the fabric of Luz’s shirt on her shoulder and attached the clip to it. Now the pacifier was dangling from Luz’s shirt. Luz now looked absolutely amazed. Willow loved that about Luz. Luz had pacifier clips, she had used them before, but here she was, loving it, like she had never seen such an incredible invention before now.

“I won’ lose it!” Luz yelped with large sparkling eyes as she grabbed the pacifier from where it hung and gazed down at the pacifier.

Willow watched Luz’s expression as the smaller girl was seeming to take in all the details of her new pacifier.

“It got owl on it,” Luz gurgled happily, eyes meeting Willows before they darted back down to the pacifier, her smile widening.

“Yeah, it looks just like-” Willow was cut off by the excited baby in her lap who began wiggling and bouncing around.

“Ow-ber” Luz lisped, a toothy smile showing once again and causing Willow’s heart to melt a bit in her chest.

“Yeah! Exactly! What a smart girl you are,” Willow complimented, causing Luz to blush and look down with a cute little smile playing on her lips before she brought the paci up to her face, parting her lips, she slipped the paci in her mouth.

Luz gave a few experimental suckles from the pacifier and giggled from behind her paci.

“Do you like it?” Willow asked.

“Mhmmm, I wuv it mum mum,” Luz lisped from behind her pacifier which was bobbing around in her mouth as she spoke around it.

“I’m glad you love it,” Willow said, happily internally screaming with joy.

Luz wrapped her arms around Willow and shoved her face into Willow’s shoulder. Willow ran a soothing hand up and down Luz’s back, loving the warm weight of Luz in her lap. Willow’s back started to ache a bit after being in this position for a bit.

Luz still cuddled up in her lap and face stilling on her shoulder, suckling getting less and less so. She gently  pushed her body across the floor of the blanket nest until her back was now resting against the wall of the blanket nest. The wall of the blanket nest that was leaning against the actual wall.

Willow leaned back, bringing Luz a bit more closer and snug against her as she got comfortable. During all of this moment, Luz didn’t seem to move in her hold besides her fingers clinging to Willow’s shirt a bit more, but that was about it.

“You sleepy honey?” Willow whispered as she kept an arm wrapped around Luz’s back and her other hand gently playing with wisps of Luz’s curling hair at the nape of the girls’ neck.

“Hmmm,” Luz hummed, sounding like she was about to pass out any second. She must have really worn herself down then. Willow was glad to have helped, it meant that later tonight, Luz would be able to fall asleep much easier and sleep better now that she had a good portion of her zoomies out.

“It’s okay to take a nap. I’ll be here for when you wake up, little bean,” Willow whispered as she continued to play with Luz’s hair.

“Nuh nuh,” Luz managed to get out before her body went completely limp in Willow’s lap, sagging more into Willow as she was out for the count.

“Nighty night, sweetie,” Willow whispered so low, even she herself could barely hear what she had uttered.

She waited a few seconds as the sound of Luz’s evened out breaths could be heard and she fished out her scroll to snap a quick photo of her smiling and Luz’s face pressed into her shoulder, out for the count as her new pacifier sat in her mouth, slightly starting to slip out, a small string of drool escaping from between her mouth and the pacifier and onto Willow’s shoulder. She sent the photo to Eda, Gus, and Amity too. All of them always enjoyed getting random pictures of their little girl, it always seemed to brighten everyone’s days up immensely. How could it not, she was their light in the darkness. She was the light of all of their lives.

The comments she had gotten on the video she had sent a bit ago with Luz jumping around in the vine jumper was everyone basically cooing over how adorable and carefree she looked. She received many heart emoticons too, telling her to give Luz hugs from all of them.

Willow did so and hugged Luz, causing the girl to sigh in relief and curl up tighter against Willow.

After about fifteen minutes, Eda had quietly opened the bedroom door and peeked inside. She smiled over at Willow and a sleeping Luz. Willow smiles back at Eda.

“You staying for dinner tonight, glasses?” Eda asked.

“Yes please,” Willow whispered back.

Eda shot her a thumbs up and quietly began to walk away, most likely to get started on making some dinner. Willow shot a message to both her dads to ask for their permission, hoping for a positive as she waited. Luckily, they said it was fine for her to eat dinner at the owl house, as long as she walked back home soon after she finished eating. They didn’t want her walking back in the dark, which was understandable.

Willow smiled as she sent the photo of her and a sleeping Luz that she had sent to Eda, Gus and Amity, and sent it to her dads. She had told them both about a friend she had that regressed because they knew about regression, and her papa occasionally partook in it when he was especially stressed out and needed a break from life, to which her dad would care for him. She got back supportive comments from both her papa and her dad. She could not wait to tell them that she was a mum. Wow…she was a mum now. How exciting!
