Chapter Text
The streets started to quiet down as the sun slowly set, painting the cobblestone roads purple. There were fewer people outside, and the street lights were getting brighter.
Yet there was the famous architect of the Akademiya in Istanbul, who was having a hard time ordering coffee.
The Sumeru Cafè was well-hidden in a blind alley, though the exterior caught the eyes of the student. It was a simple beige, two-story building with no roof. Flower pots were placed in front of the small windows. They couldn't make it more hidden even if they tried.
The student sat by a bigger window on a sofa, fairy lights above him brightening the interior with orange colour.
"Do you have anything sweet?" Kaveh asked but received no answer from the waiter. He just stood there, looking anxious. "Sweet?" He asked yet again and the nervous man pointed at a drink on the paper. He didn't say a word.
The weird waiter was wearing a thick green turtleneck, with a darker green scarf. He put his notes and pen inside his black jacket when a sudden buzz came from his pocket. He turned around to the other at the counter.
"I'll have a latte." Kaveh managed to order while checking out the menu. When he got no answer, he looked up only to see the waiter intensively staring at him. What's his deal?
"Umm... Did you write down my order?"
As he shook his head his soft, grey hair swayed along.
Kaveh sighed, "Latte, please." He took out his notes and started to write. It took him a few seconds to write down the latte.
While waiting, the student took out his phone and kept himself busy. Surprisingly, his order came out faster than he'd expected. And of course, he didn't notice the weird waiter standing beside him like a ghost.
Kaveh only noticed the grey-haired man when he tapped his shoulder. Not only did the weird waiter scare him, but also give him the wrong order. Well, it was partly wrong.
Before Kaveh could say anything, the man went back to the counter, switching with his colleague.
"Great..." Kaveh mumbled under his breath and accepted his fate, hoping the extra pudding was free.
–
Of course, it wasn't free. Kaveh's eyes widened as he stared at the bill.
"673,30 TL for a coffee?" He raised a brow. The weird waiter just stood there, waiting for the cash. "Are you sure it's that much? Can you check again?" No reply, of course. It was getting on Kaveh's nerves. "Hey!"
"Good evening, Kaveh. What's up?" Kaveh's friend from the Akademiya, Cyno, leaned against the counter. He worked at the cafe as a part-time job.
"Am I supposed to pay this much for a latte?" He pointed at the screen.
"Not really," Cyno was too chill about this, making Kaveh more furious. "But you ordered a pudding, too."
"What? No-" Oh, that little prick!
"But it's literally here."
Kaveh turned his head towards the waiter who seemed to tense when he saw the student's eyes burning with fury.
"You- I didn't even order pudding. I thought it was on the house!"
"Maybe you said it without looking at him."
"Why would I look at him?"
Kaveh kept arguing with both without giving them time to explain. Finally, he snapped and paid the amount, then left. He was too tired to deal with it.
–
Kaveh stepped into his apartment, tired eyes scanning the dark hallway. He sighed, put down his keys and managed to reach his bed before slumping down.
His cat, Mehrak purred beside his leg, slowly kneading the soft blanket. Kaveh heard his phone vibrate but didn't have the energy to look up. He had a long day.
