Steve’s POV:
I woke up to feeling Danny snuggle up closer to me. Wrapping my arms around him and kissing the top of his head, I glance over and see what time it is. 7 o’clock on a Saturday. Rachel has the kids, so there’s no reason for us to be up, we have no plans. I wiggle out of my sleeping husband’s grasp to go make us some breakfast.
Pancakes, eggs, and bacon sound like a great, tasty breakfast. I start the bacon first since I know that will take the longest. Once that is cooking, I hammer out some pancakes and eggs.
As I place all our food on the counter, I feel two arms wrap around my waist and Danny’s lay on my back.
“Morning beautiful,” I said with a smile as I turned to properly hug my man.
“Mornin’,” he mumbled as he looked up at me, bed head and sleepy eyes, “Why didn’t you wake me? I could’ve helped.”
“I know you could have Danny,” I explained before kissing him, “But I wanted to do it for you.”
“Well, thank you,” he sighed before I let him go, so he could get his plate.
We ate our plates at the kitchen table, both hungry enough, so we had no leftovers. I stood to take our plates and put them in the dishwasher.
“You okay babe?” I asked once I saw Danny still at the table, head in his hand, “Did you eat too much?”
“No, I’m still tired. I don’t know why,” he answered as I came to stand behind him.
“Let’s go back to bed then. We have nothing to do today,” I offered as I rubbed his back.
“Will you lay with me?” he asked as he turned towards me.
“Of course, come on,” I answered before taking his arm and leading him back to our bedroom.
Still in our pajamas, we climbed right into bed. I laid on my back, so Danny could come up, put his head on my chest, and snuggle my side. Once he was situated, I switched between rubbing his back and playing with his messy blond hair. It didn’t take long for the two of us to fall back to sleep.
Not really paying attention when we woke up, but we got up and changed out of our pajamas and into comfy, lazy clothes.
Danny woke up and had more energy. Since he had this extra energy, and he felt bad for not doing anything productive yet, he decided to do a few projects around the house. I offered to help, but he said he’d rather do it himself. Not wanting to cause any issues, I retreated to the living room, put on a random Guy’s Grocery Games… but I kept an ear out for Danny. He wanted to start with organizing our pantry.
“Steve,” Danny started as he came out wearing a band shirt that he stole from me, “Should I keep this?”
“What? I thought you were doing the closet?” I asked, confused as to why he randomly changed to clothes.
“I finished it. Now I’m going through my clothes. Should I get rid of this?” he asked.
“It’s mine,” I told him.
“But it was on my side of the closet?” he asked, clearly confused as to how it got there.
“Because you stole it dear,” I answered, “Could you put it back on my side?”
“Sure. I was wondering why it was so big,” he said before he retreated back to our bedroom.
He proceeded to come out, modeling different shirts for me, getting my opinion on whether they should be kept or tossed.
“What about this one?” he asked as he came out in a nice, blue button up shirt, “I don’t think I’ve ever worn it.”
“You have,” I told him, “On our first date, remember? I said it complimented your eyes.”
“Oh yeah,” he said as he smiled fondly, “Then I’m keeping this.”
“Sounds good, honey,” I told him as he returned to our room.
I glanced at my watch, seeing it’s almost 1:00, and realized neither of us have eaten anything since 7:30. Getting up, I headed to the kitchen to make us a couple sandwiches. Hoping I’d be able to pull Danny away from his random projects to eat something.
“Danny,” I said as I entered our bedroom, “You about done in here?”
“Almost. Why?” he asked as he pointed to a small stack of shirts, “Just have to go through those.”
“I made us lunch, and you should eat something,” I answered.
“Thanks, but I’m not hungry,” he said as he started sorting the last pile of clothes.
“Baby, I need you to eat something,” I told him, “What can I do to help you get done, so we can go eat some lunch?”
“Help me sort this pile,” he answered as he gave me a couple shirts.
We quickly sorted through our small shirt piles before I pulled Danny out of our bedroom and to our living room couch, so we could eat. Sitting together, we ate our lunch and watched Guy’s Grocery Games.
I set our plates aside and pulled Danny, so he was leaning against me. Wanting him to settle down for a bit, I started to slowly rub his stomach and side. Feeling him gradually relax more into my side, I continued to do it.
“Steve,” he muttered.
“Yes honey?” I asked as I kissed the top of his head.
“Stop,” he said, “You’re making me fall asleep.”
“That’s fine, baby,” I told him as I took the blanket from my lap and threw it over him, “Go to sleep.”
“Mhmm,” he protested as I turned the volume and lights down in the room, knowing he’d fall asleep faster that way.
