Work Text:
It was almost ready. Wanda had convinced Scott to help her with the baking, a skill of his she’d tell the team about if he ever brought up the one time he caught her crying when Olaf fake-died in Frozen 2.
The two were in the oversized kitchen Tony had put in when Wanda had got there, his way of welcoming her. Some pop music quietly played in the background, distracting them a few times through the baking, blaring some Taylor Swift and Scott singing all of the correct lyrics into a whisk, Wanda into a rolling pin, and some tears were shed when The Archer shuffle played. Scott insisted that he put on his hot pink Taylor apron Cassie got him for Christmas one year, with ‘Bakers got to Bake’ written in cursive, showing it off like a medal.
Wanda sat on a stool next to the fancy marble island Tony had picked, her feet tapping to the beat of the music, scrolling on her phone. The strong sun beamed from the many windows, lighting up the space. A strong scent of flowers travelled in from the windows, mixed with the baking cake. A timer dinged and Scott opened the oven.
“Drumroll, please.”
Wanda sighed, playfully rolling her eyes and put her phone down. She tapped her hands on the counter, and Scott turned around with a “Tada”, cake in hand.
“Scott it’s beautiful, she’s going to love it. Thank you so much!”
“No problemo, Wandie. It is always fun to use my sweet thumb as Cassie says.” He said with a grin on his face, ruffling Wanda’s hair with his free hand, earning a soft push to his shoulder.
The cake was triple-layered and had been meticulously iced, with freehand flowers down the side and a honey bee on the top, the pet name that Wanda had jokingly called Natasha one day but continued to call her after she forgot once and Nat wouldn’t talk to her all night.
“Okay, now all I have to do is get Nat to go to our spot without her suspecting that anything’s going on, which is going to be impossible.”
Scott hummed in agreement, his eyebrows furrowing, moving a patch of flour on his forehead with it.
“Oooh I have an idea,” Scott said, bouncing on the tips of his feet in excitement.
“You should leave her notes around the compound and lead her to your spot, maybe light some candles.”
“That’s actually good, Scott.”
Scott scoffed and laughed, “As if I’ve ever had a bad idea.”
“Yeah because that one time that Cassie said she wanted a pony so you made me fly one into her room and-”
“Okay fine nobody is perfect,” Scott held his hands up in surrender, giggling as he took the apron off and carefully put it down on the counter.

It was about 8 pm and Natasha had just got in from her mission and showered, finding it strange that she hadn’t seen Wanda yet, as she’d usually bombard her with cuddles as soon as she walked through the door. She went to sit on her bed and check her phone to see if Wanda had called her. Still nothing. She got up and noticed the envelope that she’d sat on, ‘Honey Bee’ written in curving red pen on the front. Confused, she opened it.
‘Follow the trail
Wands xx’
She was still confused but it was in Wanda’s handwriting so it probably was her. She then decided to listen to the letter and followed the trail.
It led her to a field, the field that had her and Wanda’s spot in it and a candle-lit path down to it. For the most part, she let down her guard and smiled, the love she felt for the witch only growing stronger by the second.
After a few minutes of walking in the field, she reached their spot, a barn in the middle of the field, no longer used by the farm owners. It was decorated with cherry candles and fairy lights draped all over it.
She found her girlfriend sitting on a sofa inside, cuddling a bunny stuffed animal, and a pizza box on the coffee table in front of her.
The pair had converted the barn into a mini apartment for a place to stay whenever they needed some time alone. The other Avengers were mostly accepting of their relationship but sometimes it got awkward and it was best to get away just the two of them.
“Hey Little Witch, I got your messages.”
Nat held the letters her girlfriend had left her in her hand, an adorable grin plastered across her face.
At the sound of Nat’s voice, Wanda jumped off the sofa and into her arms, wrapping her legs around her waist, and peppering her face with kisses.
“I missed you too, love,” Nat chuckled and tucked a piece of hair behind Wanda’s ear stroking her thumb across her cheek, staring into her eyes. She sighed a sigh full of bliss and pressed her and Wanda’s lips together, feeling the witch smile into the kiss.
Nat broke the kiss first and let her girlfriend down, puppy dog eyes reflected at her.
“Sorry, I really missed you, bee. I know that you’ve been under a lot of pressure lately, and you haven’t had any time to relax so I thought we could chill out here for a night and you can let your guard down for a bit. I bought a projector and ordered a pizza so we can have a Disney night.”
“Thank you, honey. You’re right I need this. I love you.”
“I love you too bee.”
Wanda bent her head down slightly and cupped Nat's cheek, kissing her once more.
“Okay okay, the pizza is getting cold let's eat.” Wanda grabbed her girlfriend’s hand and lead her to the sofa.
They ate the pizza, catching up on the things they’d missed over the two weeks of not seeing each other.
Once they’d finished, Wanda turned on the TV and snuggled into Natasha wrapping an arm around her back and leaning her head on the other’s. When they were comfy, they selected Coco, Nat’s favourite.
The credits rolled and if Nat had teared up Wanda didn’t mention it, as she had as well. Wanda sat up and walked over to the small kitchenette in the corner of the barn, lit by warm fairy lights, strung against the walls. She returned with a box, two plates, and two forks.
“So I have one more surprise, it’s nothing special but I hope you’ll like it.”
“There’s nothing that you could give me that I wouldn’t like, Little Witch”
She opened the box, and the cake sat inside.
“So I wanted to do something special for you and Scott owned me so we baked this. And it’s chocolate, your favourite.”
“I’m so lucky to have you, love. It looks delicious.”
“Who knew Black Widow’s kryptonite was chocolate cake,” Wanda teased, and Nat pecked her nose as she did.
Wanda scrunched up her nose and pulled her in for a kiss, Nat’s playful attitude fading as she deepened the kiss and moved her hands into Wanda’s auburn hair, tightening her arms around her.
Wanda broke the kiss, despite Nat’s arms tightening once more.
“Later, bee. First Disney movies, priorities” She whispered with a wink.
Nat listened but didn’t move her grip on Wanda, curling her legs so that she was sitting on them and grabbing the remote to choose the next movie. She chose Tangled (Wanda’s favourite) and started humming along to the first song.
Wanda found herself not watching much of the movie, instead looking at her girlfriend in awe, forever grateful that she was hers.
Halfway through, Wanda moved her hand to Nat’s cheek.
“What’s up, my love?”
Wanda paused before answering, the pet name causing a redness to rise in her cheeks. “Nothing, it’s just- I love you. I’m glad you’re okay, I was worried.” Wanda mumbled and a glimmer of moisture gathered in the corner of her eyes.
Natasha’s eyes softened at the words, placing a tender kiss between her eyebrows, then rested their foreheads together.
“I love you too honey, forever and always. There’s no need to worry I’m fine and I’m pretty strong,” she said, flexing one of her biceps, Wanda giggling at her action.
“There’s my girl,” Wanda’s blush deepened and she got impossibly closer to Nat.
“Now wipe those tears away and let’s finish the movie, your favourite song is coming up soon.”
Wanda smiled and resumed the movie, settling back into her girlfriend's arms.

The next morning, Nat awoke with a sleeping Wanda’s head in her chest, their legs entangled. The pair lay in the bed in the middle of the barn. Warm and soft, a small beam of sun shone onto Wanda’s face, highlighting her freckles and her rose-tinted cheeks. Nat took a deep breath, the scent of Wanda’s coconut shampoo feeling like home. She pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head and brought her closer, nuzzling her head into Wanda’s.
