BANG.

BANG.

BANG.

That was all the robot could hear as it ascended the staircase, metallic blue hands and shining blue revolver coated a scarlet red with blood. The robot reached the top of the staircase, gunning down more creatures as he reached the top.

It reached the end of the staircase, the door’s center glowing a bright green as it opened for it to proceed through. The robot looked around, revolver cocked… only to find that there was nothing there. No enemies in sight. Had they finally given up? No, they wouldn’t, these things aren’t like that. The things in this layer of Hell are mindless beings, driven only by hunger and pure instinct.

The robot, designated ‘V1’ by its creators (which were the now extinct human species) continued onwards through the halls and corridors of the labyrinth it was in. And yet… it found nothing. It was like all the creatures that it had to mercilessly killed had just… disappeared? But how? V1 knew that nothing in here, except for it of course, knew how to get out of the labyrinth. The only reason it was staying was because more and more enemies kept coming in through the one-way portals, smelling the fresh blood that was the result of the constant slaughter that V1 was creating.

Without warning, a glowing red portal appeared in front of V1. V1 skidded to a stop, observing it. The portal seemed to contain something, as there was some multitude of voices clearly shouting things like “Get Ready!” and “This is not a drill!” From what V1 had left of its memory bank, that was some of the things ‘teachers’ said when they were in educational facilities.

“MACHINE!” A voice shouted from behind V1, causing it to quickly turn around. The voice came from Gabriel, formerly one of the most powerful and respected Archangels, now a husk of that former glory. “Why are you here? This place is off limits to every- oh.” Gabriel said, turning and looking at the portals that had appeared on the walls mere days ago. “I see. You were fending them off?”

V1 nodded.

“I suppose I should thank you, Machine. I still don’t like you, but you have done a service for me by doing my job for me. I owe you one.” Gabriel said as a voice from the portal grunted something unintelligible. A white tendril came from the portal, grabbing V1’s leg and pulling it in.

“Machine? MACHINE?!” Gabriel said, turning around and dashing for V1 as it was pulled in.
