The author of the first pokedex: a biography

the first pokedex was a book made in 27XX the galactic survey corps by professor Laventon and his assistant Akari. The many pokemon of Hisui were observed and studied and reported on in an organized categorization.

Akari was found injured on Prelude Beach by professor Laventon. She was brought back to the Survay Corps, and was revealed to have no memory of her past. She was given the name Akari by Captain Cyllene. Akari quickly proved to be very good with pokemon, thus became a vital contributor and eventual assistant and academic partner to the professor. She also was tasked with seeking and calming the frenzied noble pokemon who had become aggressive due to the recent earthquakes.

Akari has a gift with the pokemon, they seem to become docile beneath her hands. At this point a believe there may be no pokemon she can not catch or tame. Even the noble pokemon show great affection towards her.” - the journals of professor Laventon

Akari’s only know relative was Warden Ingo of the pearl clan who five years prior also appeared in Hisui without any memories. Unfortunately he also could not remember her real name.

Ingo confessed to me that he recognizes the girl, but can’t figure out how he knows her. In truth I find the answer to be obvious, the same shaped nose and pale blue eyes, clearly he must be her father.” - journal of Clan Leader Irida, Sinnoh archives.

-and so Grandpa Ingo saw the girl, she had the face of stranger but he knew she couldn’t be that. While he couldn’t remember her name, he still felt immediately that he must do everything in his power to protect to her.” - interview with Flint Perilla, from the archives of Sinnoh’s oral history

Akari was banished from Jubilife Village when a storm caused all of the noble pokemon to become frenzied. She was accused of committing a heresy and bringing a curse upon the land. She was found dead three weeks later, of unknown causes. She was supposed to be buried in the pearl clan graveyard but her body disappeared and was never found.

-my nan would tell me that grandpa Ingo knew who stole her body, it was the merchant guy, who Aunt Akari bought a lot of her supplies from. They never saw him again after Aunt Akari died, the merchant that is. Just disappeared with the body to who knows where to do who knows what. Grandpa Ingo was also convinced he killed her, the same guy who stole her body.

But grandma Emma, she uh, was born like seven years or so after Aunt Akari died? Great great uncle Barley was born three years after… yeah seven for Emma. Well, she strongly disagreed with her father on the whole thing about the merchant killing Aunt Akari. Apparently she met him at some point, as he did or said something that proved to her that he didn’t kill her. Swore on Arceus’s crown, that’s how deeply she insisted that he couldn’t have killed her.” - interview with Flint Perilla, from the archives of Sinnoh’s oral history

Agrave with Akari’s name can be found with the rest of the Perilla family in the Pearl Clan’s resting grounds.

INTERVIEWER: now, what do you remember of the events of that evening?

ROANNE: well, the girl challenged me to a battle, she was quite skilled and won. After that she went to the next car, where she would have battled against Ingo. Not long after she closed the door both of them were gone.

INTERVIEWER: what did you witness during the disappearance

ROANNE: I had no idea what had happened, or what was happening

INTERVIEWER: describe what you do know, what you saw.

ROANNE: the, hmmm. At first the lights all went off, like a sudden power outage and the whole train just, stopped. That’s not supposed to happen, you know? The whole thing had me pretty freaked out. Then… the window of the door leading to Ingo’s car was pitch black, and then it cracked. By the time they towed us back to the station the car was just gone!

INTERVIEWER: did you know the girl who disapeared with Ingo?

EMMET: yes, her name was Sam. Samantha Wright, Sam. She spent a lot of time in our subway. Her goal was to get strong enough to battle us. Me, Emmet, and my brother. She would always tell us to get ready to battle her.

INTERVIEWED: so you knew her well?

EMMET: she was in the subway very often. Three to four days a week. Whenever we met outside of the train she would tell us how close she was to being able to battle us. It was her goal.

INTERVIEWER: did you want to battle her

EMMET: it was her goal to battle me, Emmet, and my brother, Ingo. I wanted her to get her goal. She was a very nice girl. She would still be in the subway after battle hours were over. She was in the subway very often. I saw her quite often. She was a nice girl. I hope my brother is okay. I hope sam is okay. Can I please go home now?

L: so, do you think it’s another ultra worm hole?

B: all the readings point to that. This is the first time anything has gone into one of these things, that we know of, much less an entire train car with two people inside

L: what’s the probability of them surviving?

B: honestly? No idea. At one point I’d declare them dead, but now things have changed since that one wormhole spat out an entire living person right onto our doorstep. Unfortunately we have no way of knowing where that guy even came from considering they lost all of their memories in the process.

L: so unknown chance of survival, and no way of knowing where they went?

B: well, we do know that there are two types of ultra wormholes, Class A and Class B, yeah I know very creative names, and we know that the portal that took the subway boss and the kid was Class B. so as soon as we figure out where Class B portals go, we will have a lead on where they went.

L: at this point I’m tempted to strap a tracker to my back and jump inside one of those things just to see where it goes for myself

B : oh, dragons please don’t do that.

L: haha don’t worry I won’t.
