Let’s lock the door

Summary:

What happened right before Maggie talked to Hershel in his room and why he was so mad at her.

Work Text:

Maggie sits in her office at the new hilltop. Switching locations was a difficult challenge, but now that they are all settled in it is a relief. There’s a knock on her office door. She smiles just a tiny bit.
“Come in,” she says, eyes still on the paper on the list of items needed on the next supply run.
“Hey Mags,” Dante pokes his head in. “You wanted to see me?”
“Mhm,” she hums, putting the list away. She stands and turns towards him, a smirk on her face. She heads towards him. Dante smiles as she gets close, pulling her towards him. His hands go to her waist as Maggie’s goes behind his neck.
“How’s the list-“ Dante starts.
“Stop talking,” Maggie breathes, inching her face closer to Dante’s. “No more talking.” Maggie’s lips just barley touch his.
“No?” He smirks. “I can’t ask how the list is going for our run later today?”
“Nope,” she smirks, connecting their lips in a soft kiss. Dante’s hands go to her face, kissing her harder. He starts slowly working her back to her desk. Maggie’s back hits the table as Dante’s hands move into her short hair. “I have something better for that mouth.” Maggie breathes, breaking their lips apart. Both breathing heavy as they smirk. His hands start traveling down her body, lifting her shirt from her jeans. Dante drops to his knees as Maggie leans back a little on her desk. His hands slowly open and unzip her jeans.
“Can you go any slower?” Maggie moans, gripping her desk.
“I thought there was no talking?” Dante stops his hands, his eyes looking at hers. “I’m going on a run today, I want to cherish every second with you.” He stands, kissing her hard. Maggie’s hands go to his face, kissing back just as hard. Her breath hitches as Dante’s hand finds it’s way into her jeans, touching her from the outside of her underwear.
“Dante-“
“Nope,” he smirks against her lips. “No talking baby.” His lips go back on her, both moaning as his tongue goes in her mouth.
“Hey mom-“ Hershel swings her office door open, stopping at the sight in front of him.
Maggie goes to push Dante as he’s already withdrawing from her.
“Hershel-“ Maggie starts, her face growing redder by the second. But it’s too late, he’s already running out the door. As quickly as she could, she zips her pants and run after him.
“Hershel please,” she pants, close behind him.
Hershel slams his bedroom door.
“Fuck,” running her hand threw her hair, turning to walk back to her office.
“He talk to you?” Dante asks, sitting in her chair at her desk.
Maggie shakes her head, burying her face in her hands.
“We just scared him for life,” Dante chuckles a bit, standing up to hug her.
“It’s not that,” she lets him envelope her in his arms. “He’s angry I’m with someone other than his father.”
Dante sighs, kissing the top of her head.
“I know I’m not his dad, and I don’t want to replace him but you make me happy Maggie.”
“You make me happy too,” she wraps her arms around his waist. “He might just be angry with me for awhile.”
“How about I stay away for a bit? Give you guys some time to talk,” he pushes the hair from her face. “I don’t want him mad at you because of me.”
Now it’s Maggie’s turn to sigh.
“I’m going to go talk to him.” Maggie let’s go of him. Just as she opens the door, she turns around. “Let’s lock the door next time.”
Dante chuckles, following her out the door to head back outside.
“I’ll meet you in your room tonight,” he kisses her quickly. “Good luck.”
Maggie gives a small smile and heads to Hershel’s room.
