Chapter Text

The dining room table is as empty as always, but it feels emptier than usual. It’s my last day in New York. The last day of the only life I’ve ever known. Tomorrow, I’ll be leaving to stay with my aunt Liane in Colorado. With my parents’ divorce, New York is way too expensive for us. Mom’s staying here for a while to get things sorted out, but she wanted me to get situated in our new town before the school year started. All my stuff is already on a U-haul headed to South Park and my first day of 4th grade starts next week. At least I was able to stay in New York for the summer so I can hang out with my friends before I’m gone. I am not looking forward to being the new kid.

South Park is really in the middle of nowhere. This deafening silence is definitely going to take some getting used to. After over 4 hours stuck on a plane and the painful taxi ride from the Denver Airport, aunt Liane’s house looks like a palace. While I’m grabbing my luggage from the trunk of the car, Liane gently opens the front door and walks down the driveway.

“Welcome (y/n)! You’ve grown so much since I last saw you. ”My aunt’s gentle voice has always put me at ease-- unlike the grating voice of my cousin-- “Eric is inside, dear. Are you hungry? I hope you like KFC.” I just smile and trail behind my aunt. As I walk to the door, I look around at the other houses. In the house directly across from us, I spot a young boy in a green hat watching me through the window. I whip my head away and hurry through the door.

Little did I know, that boy across the street was sprinting up the stairs to his room. He grabs his landline and feverishly punches in his best friend’s number-- waiting impatiently to hear his voice through the receiver.

What’s up dude?” The boy hears the groggy voice of his friend.

“Dude, remember that truck with all those boxes outside Cartman’s house the other day?” The boy says excitedly.

Yeah, what about it? Is Cartman planning something stupid again?

“No, dude, no! I think someone moved in…” the boy pauses for a moment before continuing, “... there’s a new kid.”

Notes:

Thanks for reading the first chapter of my fic! Imma be honest, I'm not sure exactly what direction I want to go with this story, but right now I'm heading towards a Kenny x Reader plot line-- with sprinkles of Kyle x Reader. I do expect the chapters to get a bit longer as the story progresses and the characters age.

*I also want to put a TW that there will be some anti-semitism from Cartman. As someone who is Jewish, I find it important to include these interactions-- I also plan to use it for plot development in the future. Anyway, you've been warned! So, if you feel uncomfortable with these themes, I would suggest not reading further.*

Thanks again for reading this and I hope you enjoy(ed). I plan to post weekly!!!!
