That’s Not The Spider-Man I Know

Summary:

Oikawa just wanted one quiet night in. His friend hanging out in the corner said otherwise. Where’s his knight in shining armour when you need him?

Work Text:

Oikawa was waiting for Iwazumi to arrive back home from his shift at the hospital. It wasn’t exactly a shift since he was on call and just happened to get paged. He had already said that he would be back in time for them to have dinner together.

Oikawa couldn’t hide his disappointment since it was also his time off from coaching and this was going to be their day together. He couldn’t deny the thought of his soon-to-be husband making them money felt nice.

So, he went to the kitchen and continued to make their food. Something simple and easy since Oikawa wasn’t the greatest chef and Iwaizumi didn’t like to eat something too heavy after working a shift. There were only a few things he could make including a simple curry, miso ramen with tofu and then some tomato pasta.

Him and Iwa agreed on some ramen for tonight since Oikawa could make it and it would fill both of them up.

Once he had his cooking playlist on, all his ingredients laid out as well as a quick recipe, he was ready to get cooking.

Iwaizumi had called him around 10 minutes ago to let Oikawa know that he was on his way from the hospital. It would take him around 20 minutes to get there, so Oikawa had another 10 minutes to plate up.

Everything was going smoothly until OIkawa caught something scuttling along the wall. At first, he paid no mind to it even if it did freak him out. He tried to convince himself that it wasn’t what he thought it was in order to stay sane. Iwaizumi wouldn’t be home for 10 more minutes, so as long as whatever it was didn’t appear again he would be ok.

Even with all his hoping and praying, the next time he opened his eyes a massive spider was sitting right in front of him.

He definitely did not let out a very high pitched scream. Of course he didn’t, that’s just not like him at all.

The neighbours definitely did not knock on their door and ask if he was ok. He did not let out a quiet squeak of confirmation that made them leave them alone.

Oikawa was now arm to the teeth with different things he could grab from the kitchen, including 2 cans of different types of bug spray. People would think he was off to war against bugs. Which in his head, he was.

The last known location of the species was the kitchen, so that’s where his search began. He had already put the plates with their sides on the dining table and covered them so they stayed warm. The first things to go were the dishes that were all pushed onto the floor very gently.

With no sign of the spider, he next moved into the living room where all the pillows were thrown onto the floor. He made sure to keep his back to the wall at all times in case he was to be attacked from behind. He used his bug spray wisely even if that meant that spraying anything was even a little small and black.

Pieces of string, spots of pen ink, spilled paint, whatever it was, it was getting sprayed.

The next point was the bedroom which had a similar treatment to the living room. Pillows, bedsheets, lamps ,all went to the floor.

With no sign of the spider, Oikawa had to pull out the big guns in order to fight back.

And that’s how Iwaizumi found him outside the apartment, still protected in his blanket and pillow armour.

“What is going on here?”

“Iwa-chan! Finally you’re here! My saviour!” Oikawa cried and immediately latched onto the smaller man who was still in his hospital scrubs.

Iwaizumi took a moment to look him over before hugging back. “Did you get locked out or is there a spider? If it’s the latter, do I even want to go in there?” Iwaizumi asked and looked at the door with disdain.

“I really couldn’t find it. What did you want me to do?” Oikawa whined and held onto Iwaizumi’s arm. “I tried to put it back together as much as possible but… what if it hid and then lay eggs around the apartment. We would need to move out because I’m not staying there, no way.” Oikawa whined and tugged on his sleeve. “I’ll clean it all up after you find it.” Oikawa kissed his cheek and Iwaizumi finally opened the door.

As expected, everything was a riot save for the table where the food was sitting. As Oikawa said, some of the pillows had been put back and the chairs were pushed in.

“See? I tried to clean up a little.”

“And even after all of this you couldn’t find it? Are you sure it was there in the first place?” Iwaizumi crossed his arms, put his bag down and then walked over to get the food which was still hot, thanks to it being covered.

He picked up his chopsticks and lifted the covering.

“I found it.”

Oikawa’s head whipped around and complete fear overtook his face. “You’re kidding.”

“I’m not.” Iwaizumi chuckled and walked over to throw the bowl of ramen away.

“Ah… it’s such a waste of food…” Oikawa whined as he completely forgot his own fear.

“So now you care about something more than the spider? Of course it would come down to food for you. Why am I not even surprised?”

“Iwa… I worked hard on that.”

“Come here baby. I think we should go out for something to eat instead. It would make it a lot more special, don’t you think?” Iwaizumi kissed his boyfriend’s head in hopes to get him to smile. “I’m going to go for a shower, change and then we can head out to that restaurant you like. You can cook for the rest of this week if you really want to.”

Oikawa nodded sadly with a little pout still on his face.

“Can I at least join you in the shower?”

“Of course you can. After you finish cleaning up.” Iwaizumi smiled and kissed OIkawa quickly before running to their bathroom and locking the door.

“Iwa!” Oikawa cried before he got to work cleaning up. He would need that shower after all this hard work.
