Chapter Text

Earth is dead.
Everyone knew the stories of Earth,. pPassed on from grandparents who once saw the dying planet. How the governments forgot about their people, and destroyed the planet for resources and property. Finally one day, there was nothing left to take. No fFresh air. No clean water. No animals besides what was in mandated farms. Earth is dead.
Legend said that it was then when the portal opened. A rip in space and time formed by magic, rippling the air and held all eyes of the world. Then, They stepped through. Strangers unlike anything anyone could have ever dreamed before. Aliens. Monsters. Some were beast like, with hooves but sharp teeth. Animals mixed with parts of other animals. Some was slimy, scales repeating in strange patterns and aquatic in nature. Some was the very depictions of devils. Red skin, coiling tails and gruesome horns. There was even giant insects with plated human torsos. All horrifying. But they all had one thing in common: geodes embedded deep into their chests where their hearts should have been.
VoidHearts, they called themselves.
They took some of humanity. Captured us and brought us to a new place. Astora. A planet that was similar to home, but was not home. gigantic trees and strange new animals and plants. Through impossible odds we created a civilization. Years of hard work dedication and perseverance. The Kingdom of Paragon rose to its glory. A sanctuary against the monstrous VoidHearts.
Home.
Paragon was a thriving city of gold and white. Cobblestone streets, clean building faces, and an ever growing population. Farm lands protected the perimeter, a small moat of green between the towering forests and civilization. Seen from those very trees was the Imperial Castle. The very figure of hope and protection for the people. Tall while walls, gold painted trim and sweeping iron works on the doors and windows. Regally it looked down at its subjects. Shielding them from the horrors beyond the dark foreboding treeline. The city grew and grew with every year, already well on the way clearing out another hector of land to expand. More homes for the people. But progress has been gruelling. VoidHearts have been ambushing the contractors. Fighting savagely, with every tree that fell. Ten men would often fall with it. This isn’t the only struggle Paragon has to deal with; besides the wild attacks of those monsters, hunting has been scarce. Many of the herd of deer and other animals have disappeared. King Regget claims that they have been hunted and driven away because of the VoidHeart devils. More pressure has been mounting on the farmers who simply does not have enough animals to feed the whole city daily.
The people are scared. Hungry.
Deciding to finally take a stand, mighty King Regget proclaimed war of the monsters. For the Sake of humankind. Kill the VoidHeart!
