Chapter 1: 【Agrimonias】

Chapter Text

❥ Y/N's POV

┊KEY -- [Y/N] = Your Name; [S/N] = Shop Name; [MX] = Preferred address (Mx., Mrs., Mr.,)┊

You remembered last night, when your phone rang at 2 AM in the morning. You thought that it might've been another spam call--considering it was an unknown phone number calling you-- and had repeatedly ignored the onslaught of the annoying ringing coming from the small device that laid on your nightstand. After a few more rings, however, you decided to actually pick up.

To your surprise, it was your grandmother; who was calling at a faraway hospital. Apparently she had gotten her spine injured after falling down the stairs to tend to her cat--as much as you cared for your grandmother, you thought the idea of getting your spine injured due to your cat was incredibly stupid, but you didn't say that.

You drove all the way to the hospital she was in--regardless of how late it was for you. In the patient room was your grandmother, who was laying in bed with a hospital gown and some machinery around her.

You remembered her smiling at you with some a determined grin, brushing off the fact that her spine was probably severely damaged.

According to the doctors, she needed to stay in the hospital for a few months. Afterwards, your grandmother had requested for you to take care of her flower shop--and her cat. You hesitantly agreed due to already having a part time job and spending most of your time studying for online college.

She did agree to pay you though, so that helped in convincing you to accept her request.

☁ ☀ ☁

And that's how you got yourself into spending the rest of your night, studying up and researching about the languages of flowers; how to take care of flowers; how to pick good assortments of flowers; how to make the shop look more appealing to customers; how to be a good businessman, etcetera.

You took another sip of your lukewarm coffee, your eyes not leaving your laptop that was probably about to die any moment now because of you not charging it beforehand--curse your overworked brain for forgetting things so easily.

You sat near the cash register--around you were many pots full with all sorts of colorful blooms and plants, very picturesque in your opinion.

Reds, yellows, blues, pinks, whites, it was incomprehensible to you with how vibrant nature could be--though, you blamed your disbelief with how you grew up with numerous fake plants around you; you remembered how you thought the plants were real when you were a kid.

The pitter patter of the rain seemed to distract you a bit from your online work, and from your research of flowers. Turning to the windows, you found yourself paying attention to the water droplets that trailed slowly to the bottom of the glass panes.

Then came in more droplets, and even more droplets coming down to the windows--you couldn't help but focus even more on them.

Your eyes followed the trail of the nearest water droplets that came after the last one you were watching--another one came down, then another one, then another one, then another one, then another one--

The sudden chime of the shop's wind chimes had snapped you out of your focus--did you get side tracked again? You hissed inwardly, damn you and your easily-distracted brain. You turned around to see what had came through the door, and found your first customer of the day; a man in a suit that began wandering around the flora.

"Good morning, welcome to [S/N] Flower Shop--feel free to look around. If you need anything, let me know." You welcomed, tepid. The man didn't bother paying attention to you as he continued to inspect the pretty blooms around him.

You shrugged, not caring about the ignorant nature of the customer. You simply went back to your laptop and started scrolling through the multiple tabs you had active--many of which were about how to handle flowers well and how to be a good florist. Though, that was only on one of your many browsers. Another browser you had on displayed your near-due homework about advanced calculus and physics.

Slowly but surely, more customers began to pour into the quaint but attractive flower-shop; many of which would only be taking photos or admiring the beauty of the greenery. Sometimes though, the people would actually request or a buy some sort of assortment of flowers.

"Thank you for shopping at [S/N] Flower Shop. Have a great day." You spoke, lacking the enthusiasm your grandmother had told you to put in--what was the point in putting in any sort of enthusiasm anyway? It's not like anyone's gonna pick up on it.

Moving on from the thought, you realized that it was almost the end of the shop's 'open-hours', 5:30 PM. You let out a tired sigh--you still had to do your other part time job; which was just delivering pizza. You also have a surplus amount of homework you have to catch up on...

You cursed yourself for procrastinating on doing your homework right until it was due. Curse yourself on your forgetfulness; damn you and your easily-distracted tendencies; damn you--

Your inward cursing was interrupted as you heard the sound of a familiar chime come from the shop's entrance. Turning to who it was now, you were unexpectedly met with the sight of an... unbelievably tall, cartoonish-looking skeleton that seemed to have came out of a kids show.

You found yourself analyzing the appearance of the said skeleton; they were wearing of what seemed to be... cosplay? Well-- cosplay in your standards; no one in this completely normal society would be wearing white armor with yellow and red accents publicly unless they had no sense of shame, and is.. is that- is that golden trimmed blue underwear?! With red velcro-strapped boots? What the fu--??

"ER- HUMA-- AHEM! I MEAN [MX], ARE YOU ABLE TO FIX ME SOME FLOWERS FOR SOMEONE??" The skeleton yelled--their voice booming through the shop as you immediately winced from their volume.

"Y..yes. What do you need?" You whispered, a bit taken aback from the sudden yelling of the strange skeleton.

"WELL! I WANT TO GIVE THE BEST OF FLOWERS TO THIS PERSON THAT I LIKE, METTATON!! HE HAS A SHOW TONIGHT AND I JUST WANT TO SUPPORT HIM BE GIVING HIM A BEAUTIFUL BOUQUET OF FLOWERS!!!" The skeleton yelled even further, much to your discomfort.

"Y-yep.. Just... hold on..." You mumbled, immediately moving away from the loud skeleton as you quaveringly grabbed out your notebook that was chock full of scribbles and notes, still a bit shaken by the loud voice.

Regaining enough composure to open the small pocket notebook, you flipped through the pages that described the many varieties of flower assortments, depending on the intent and purpose.

A few sunflowers for 'adoration', goldenrods for 'encouragement', orange roses for 'enthusiasm', and purple heathers for 'admiration'. You were glad that you studied up a bit on flower combinations.

Once you were done with your bouquet, you hesitantly walked up to the skeleton and handed them their flowers; hopefully they won't yell at you anymore..? You tilted your head up to the skeleton, and found them beaming at the flowers so brightly, that they seemed to outshine the sun itself; in a jokingly negative connotation, you already had enough of the sun constantly burning you.

"THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND SERVICES, HUMAN!!" You jinxed it, damnit. Luckily for you though, that was probably the strange customer's last few words as they gave you a pat on the head and some cash on the palm of your hand. You were surprised yet again, but snapped back to reality as you saw them maunder away.

Well, that was odd. You shrugged again, twice today probably, and looked back to where they had given you cash--TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS?!!! What the absolute-- that's 100 dollars more than the actual price..!!

You popped out of the flower shop and tried to find the skeleton, hoping they were nearby. "Hey! You gave a hundred more--oh." It seemed that the skeleton was nowhere to be found.

Incredible. Some tall skeleton had just given you a hundred more dollars without noticing. Simply, incredible.

After that, the day seemed to pass on pretty quickly--you did your usual part-time-job duties of delivering pizza to places ranging from very questionable alleyways to the usual family homes. After 9:30 P.M, you started working on finishing the last of your math and chemistry homework, then went off to bed soon after.

What a day.

☁ ☾⋆⁺₊⋆ ☁

Later that night, Papyrus had came home after work. A bright, silly smile on his skull as he unintentionally slammed the door behind him closed--which immediately woke up his sleeping brother, sans.

"ACK- Ow." sans yelped, feeling the frontal bone of his skull smacking the hard wooden floor of their apartment.

The smaller skeleton groaned, rubbing where the floor had hit him as he sat back up. "Papyrus, my buddy, my chum, my brother, my super amazing brother--can you not slam the door next time..?" sans asked, turning back to where the latter skeleton was.

"OH HUSH! YOU'VE ALREADY HAD ENOUGH SNOOZES FOR TODAY, BROTHER! THOUGH YES, I WILL TRY TO NOT SLAM THE DOOR NEXT TIME." Papyrus exclaimed. He walked over to their small kitchen, and began cooking dinner; spaghetti! His specialty!

sans observed his brother a little more, and found him a little happier than usual--did something good happen? "Not wanting to be nose-y or anything, but did something humerus happen?" sans punned, surprise coming in after as he didn't hear the annoyed sounds his brother would usually make from his puns. Something good must've happened, definitely.

"AH, GLAD YOU ASKED, SANS! I GOT METTATON A STUNNING BOUQUET OF AMAZING FLOWERS!! THE HUMAN IN THE FLOWER SHOP I WENT TO REALLY DID AN AMAZING JOB WITH FLOWERS!" Papyrus informed, already turning up the heat of the stove as he continuously stirred his tomato sauce in a semi-charred pot.

Now that caught sans' attention. He knows that Papyrus is gullible, and is especially trusting to others. He shook his head, 'the human's probably just some ordinary florist, they're probably not a psychopathic murderer--or are they? No no- shut up, stop overthinking--well, maybe? ah, fuck.

The paranoia and trust issues were creeping up his spine again; he needed to double check and vibe check this human. He knows it's probably just his paranoia talking, but hey--could ya blame him?

"That's super awesome, Papyrus. Although, mind hand-ing me the name of this shop? Never know when ya gotta get someone some good ol' flowers, ey?" sans questioned, feigning nonchalance as he leaned into his phalanges on the sofa out of 'boredom'.

"SURE!! THE FLOWER SHOP I THINK WAS UH, '[S/N] FLOWER SHOP' I BELIEVE? IT'S REALLY CLOSE TO WHERE WE LIVE!" Papyrus answered, straining the noodles off of the other pot and glazing it all with his passionately-cooked tomato sauce.

"Got it, thanks Paps." Thanked sans. He just needed to check this human, just in case. Wouldn't want to have his only brother talking to a killer or some sorta messed up human, that would give him a bad time, that's for sure.
