Chapter 1: Chapter I

Chapter Text

“Andy wait for us!” Liv called out as her older brother raced down to his court-side seat after his ticket had been scanned.

The NBA Global Games series was in Paris’ Bercy Arena and Andy’s favourite team (the one Mike’s dad also played for) was in town, hence the court-side seats for himself, Liv, Mike and a member of the host house they were staying at during their week in Paris.

“Please wait.” A steward ordered as he put out an arm to block Andy from potentially running onto the court during the warm-up session, much to Andy’s annoyance. “Your friends?” said steward asked as he saw Liv, Mike and Marinette making their way down the steps with the same colour wristbands as he.

“Yeah. Sorry. Just excited.” Andy laughed off his eagerness to everyone around him.

“Your seats are next to that young man over there.” The steward pointed to four empty seats next to a blond teenager wearing blue jeans, a black t-shirt and white jacket.

“Hey isn’t that your boyfriend?” Liv asked Marinette who managed to smile and blush at the same time.

“Adrien.” She dreamily muttered to herself.

“I’ll take that as a yes.” Mike declared.

As he and Liv tried to snap Marinette out of a trance-like state Andy briskly made his way to Adrien.

“Bonn-Jaw. Jem-Apple Andy.” Andy tried to introduce himself in French which made Adrien chuckle.

“Good try but English is fine. Nice to meet you Andy, I’m Adrien.”

The pair shook hands but it was then that Adrien noticed a blushing Marinette, making him stand up.

“Hey Marinette.” He got up and kissed her on the cheeks. “Are these the guys from New York City your family are looking after?” he asked.

“We sure are.” Liv affirmed after it was clear Marinette still crushed hard for Adrien despite the fact they’d been an item for a while now. “We landed at Roissy Airport from Idlewild late last night and have been chilling today before we see Mike’s dad play.”

“Which one is your dad Mike?” Adrien asked Mike as everyone sat down, Mike in the middle with the boys on his right and girls on his left, the French duo flanking the American trio.

“The one with ‘Collins’ on his back.” Mike pointed to his dad as he drained another three-pointer.

“No! Way!” Adrien gawped at Mike. “Your father is the Michael Collins?”

“Mike Collins, Jr. at your service.” Mike rubbed the back of his head, slightly embarrassment by the attention he was getting.

“I hate to ask this straight away Mike, but do you think you could get your father to sign a jersey for me?” Adrien asked as politely as he could.

“He’ll get you that jersey he’s wearing signed if you want dude.” Andy loudly declared and put his arm around Adrien.

“I guess so.” Mike said to himself before Liv tapped him on the shoulder.

“Leave the fanboys to their basketball. I think Marinette is coming around.”

As the warm-up ended Adrien listened intently to Andy’s basketball tips and stories of how he’s the best player in his school.

“I’m going to have to practice these before my class on Wednesday. Oh, Andy you should come to my house. I have a basketball half-court in my bedroom. You can show me everything.” Adrien enthused.

Andy’s brain took a couple of seconds to process what Adrien had said.

“You have a half-court in your bedroom? Sure I want to, no, need to see that. Marinette can I go to Adrien’s tomorrow?” Andy called out across Mike and Liv.

“S-sure thing.” She said whilst actually looking at Adrien.

“Hey I thought we were all going to the Louvre tomorrow?” Liv protested.

“I think Andy would get more out of hanging out with Adrien. Besides I think a lot of the Louvre would be lost on him.” Marinette whispered the last part into Liv’s ear, just loud enough for Mike to hear too.

“Sounds like a plan.” Mike smiled a split second before Andy temporarily deafened him in his ear with a cheer as the players took to the court.
