Work Text:

"Destroya, why is it so-" Fun Ghoul grumbled, digging through the absolute disaster that were the drawers of his dresser. His and Party's dresser, really. Even a little bit of a communal dresser, seeing as how he keeps having to shove aside something he recognizes as Kobra's or Jet's. Jeans, scarves, socks, it's all haphazardly thrown into the seemingly bottomless drawers and Ghoul swears he's about to unearth either a cockroach infestation or a forgotten hoard of zoneweed within the depths of the fabric, because that would just make sense.

"Finally." He mutters, pulling out what he thinks is the article of clothing he was on the search for, a green cardigan he hadn't worn in a long time but had randomly thought of earlier in the day and decided to pull back out.

Of course it isn't the cardigan, but he stands with a thoughtful noise anyway because he realizes he hasn't ever seen it before, and it's pretty nice. He shakes it out and it unravels fully and he sees it's a long, faded skirt. It has to be Party's, but he's never seen them wear it before, probably because it was forgotten so deep in their drawers, shoved away who knows when because they prefer shorter skirts in brighter colors than this faded green that Ghoul can't really imagine going with anything they normally wear.

He went to shove it back into the drawer and continue on the search for his long lost cardigan but he hesitated, because he was intrigued. The skirt was pretty and the fabric was his favorite kind, light and faded, soft almost like an old throw blanket and without a single one of those wrong textures that made his skin crawl and teeth itch. He contemplates asking Party if he could go to Show Pony with it, get them to repurpose it into a sweater, because it would honestly be perfect for him and he wouldn't wear it as is, he's never worn a skirt or dress in his life. Not because it's wrong, it's just never been his thing. He's not feminine like Party Poison or Jet Star are, he feels more comfortable in his well worn t shirts, sweaters and skinny jeans with textures and sensations that never change.

But once again he hesitates, because he can't deny he's curious. There's a new urge tugging at his gut and if he locks the door and tries actually on the skirt, well, that's nobody's business but his own.

And if he stands in front of their old, cracked full length mirror, hiding his smile behind his hand, pleasantly surprised as he twists and turns, it's a secret between him and the Witch.

He finds he doesn't dislike it at all. It's long enough to cover his legs but not to trip or get mud on and it's loose enough to not constrict his movement. The fabric remains soft and feels nice brushing against his legs, it could almost be nothing more than a blanket wrapped around him.

And most importantly, it looks good on him. It looks good with his yellow shirt and he can already hear Party's voice in his head saying it brings out your eyes. It's pretty and it makes him look pretty and whether it's the fabric or the color, something about it is close enough to his usual style that he also still looks and feels like himself . He really likes that.

So he smiles at his reflection and decides to wear it, stifling giggles as he unlocks the door and imagines his friend's reactions. He ventures down the hall, enjoying the way the fabric swishes around him as he walks. If he spinned or stood in place and swayed he knows the way it moves would captivate and please him in the same way rocking back and forth or holding up a slinky and letting it bounce it in the air might.

"I dunno about Cherri but-"

Party Poison is talking but they trail off when they catch sight of Ghoul entering the foyuer. He grins casually as their jaw drops and Jet spots him too, her face absolutely lighting up. Kobra just smiles, giving him a proud thumbs up that makes him snicker.

"Ghoulie!" Party exclaims happily, scrambling to their feet and stumbling across the diner to meet him halfway. "Baby, you look so pretty ." They coo, sweeping him into their arms to kiss him sweetly.

He giggles against their lips and they draw back, hands on his waist thumbing at the fabric of the skirt in awe. He twirls a lock of their hair before he tucks it behind their ear and quickly presses a kiss to the tip of their nose. With that he laughs and wiggles away, bouncing up to the booth where Jet and Kobra still sat.

"Morning." He chirps, getting pulled into Jet's side of the booth and smothered in little kisses to his cheeks and forehead until he's giggling madly.

"You look very pretty." Jet says when she's done.

"Thanks, guys." He says, sitting back with a blush and staring across from him at the still awed Party Poison, grinning at him as they slide back into their side of the booth.

They continue their conversation from before Ghoul's entrance but he doesn't pay much attention or try to catch up, is a little too distracted by Poison's foot knocking his and trailing up his calf while they smirk playfully. They have their own conversation with facial expressions and before long, the other's conversation must be done because the table is being abandoned and Jet's pushing him out of the booth.

He just laughs, sits on the abandoned tabletop and let's Poison box him in.

"Where'd you even get this?" They ask in awe, hands splaying over his thighs.

"It's yours." He replies with a shrug, "Found it buried in our drawers, liked the fabric, got curious."

"You look so good." They say softly, playing with the fabric. "Wanna eat you up."

Ghoul grins crookedly, mischievously,

"Could eat me out." he offers, because he has no filter whatsoever. Poison laughs, bright and surprised and kisses him.

"Oh, anything for my pretty parodia." They agree, pulling him off the tabletop and setting him on his feet as he blushes red. "Spin for me?" They request with their big soft eyes he can never say no to.

He huffs and shakes his head, smiling softly as he steps back and spins, fabric of the skirt billowing prettily around him.

A loud but familiar click interrupts him and he stops spinning. "No!" He exclaims, not without laughter as he runs at Jet Star, who holds the polaroid camera above his head as it ejects the photo.

"Baby's first twirl!" She sings and Kobra, who had been standing nearby the whole time, simply reaches up and takes the polaroid from the camera to shake it out. Poison skips over and snatches it from their brother so Fun Ghoul jumps on them, wrapping all his limbs around them and biting into their shoulder as he makes grabby hands for the photo.

"Ghoulie's first twirl!" Poison echoes, impervious to his attack. The diner rings with laughter and he unsinks his teeth from Poison's shoulder to join in, instead hooking his chin over it to squint at the developing photo that Poison holds at an arm's length.

"Lemme see." He whines, grinning when Poison laughs and finally relents, letting him have the picture. He unclings from them and they just spin around so that they are at his back instead of the other way around, looking over his shoulder at the picture that's finally clear.

He's a little bit blurry but you can see his smudged smile and the way Poison stared at him with undisguised adoration as he twirled, the billowing skirt looking more like a flower the way it was caught in time.

"Parodia." Poison purrs over his shoulder and he giggles, spinning to grab their face in his hands and kiss them again. Jet reaches between them to snatch the candid polaroid and coo over it, pulling a sharpie out of nowhere to write the caption.

Ghoul and Poison separate to watch her search for a place to pin it up, eventually settling on a bit of free wall space that Kobra points out.

They all gather around the new memory immortalized on the diner wall, surrounding it is random doodles and stickers, to it's right is a picture from a Mad Gear concert of Kobra crowdsurfing and a bit above it is a picture of that coyote Poison fed for a while and called Wile like the one from that old cartoon Kobras got on VHS.

And now, centerpiece is that snapshot of their little joyful morning and Fun Ghoul decides he'll add the skirt to his regular wardrobe, especially if it makes for more memories like this one.
