Shadows, Blood & Love, or Pain in Our Hearts

Summary:

Strange to think that Scissor Seven was fun to watch. A series of Action and funnies, with slices of life and romance... (sigh)

Anyway, I thought that I could try my hand at making a one-shot series for this interesting animated Chinese series.

(I also take requests for fans of the series that are interested in having an idea of theirs's written)

Notes:

Welcome to the first chapter of the series.

This is for Timelesswalker for his Faking Amnesia request that made this first chapter possible.

Hopefully you enjoy.

Chapter 1: My Wishless Vacation

Chapter Text

Killer stared down at the pair of blue chickens that had rescued him and decided that from that moment forward he was going to quit the evil life that was put before him.

Become someone better, or he would die trying.

It wasn’t until later that he had realized with shock that Dai Bo was going to try and make him do the assassination life again.

Sure, he had been faking it and made that foolish joke about the Stans who could cure such things, but Seven enjoyed being a barber, he enjoyed all the new people that he got to meet as he became Scissor Seven.

He was a gentle person now, no room for killing in his heart, or at least that was what he thought to himself. Now he just “killed” his enemies with advice, but that didn’t stop him from still making mistakes.

Even if he was one of the top Shadow Killers, there was no way to win them all.

Though that reminded him, as he looked over his desk, he just sighed.

He kept the papers of people with the highest bounties, and apparently there was one that hit close to his home country.

Dumb problems arose in the form of Miss Thirteen, who he had become fond of and who happened to be apprenticed to the Green Phoenix, boy what a small world.

But that didn’t matter, what mattered was handling missions.

One Chairman Huilian Jiang, who had asked him to kill poor Li Jian, who was just a strange collector. Rolling his eyes, he supposed that the guy was an easy enough mark.

It wasn’t until he had almost faced some power that Chairman Jiang was hiding that Seven understood the need to handle this.

Though using a dirty trick to defeat the group of women was the funniest thing he ever did in his career.

After helping Li Jian for a final time, he left knowing that he was in for a earful from Dai Bo for not killing another person.

But who cared, that was another innocent life saved from the harsh way of others, no matter how strange their flaws.

With a sad smile on his features, Seven walked home, back to the barber shop where he saw Xiao Fei and Dai Bo in front of.

Captain Jack was a totally different affair, he wasn’t even sure where to start, but with a hidden snort, and using his qi scissors he was ready to take on this foe (even if there was some stumbling).

Seven wasn’t even sure why he was making himself come off as weak, it wasn’t like he couldn’t just kill them, slash their throats and make a clean getaway, but inside he knew that it wasn’t right to kill him.

Sure, he and his crew had caused plenty of trouble, but Seven knew that it was better to deal with a problem the best way without accidentally killing someone.

The fight almost ended relatively quickly once he had employed a new technique, but that was the better way to make things easier for his new life and home.

Seven really wished life was easy for him, and that people would just stop trying to kill him. He was a hard enough worker, sure he was lazy, but he worked hard enough to know what kind of work he was in for when the time came.

But the real challenge finally came when he came face to face with another more side bounty.

The Prince of Stan’s arrival ruined another day of good work that Seven could’ve done, and as soon as he sensed that Chairman Jiang set off some of her power, Seven flew into action, silently thanking Thirteen or the other unholy forces that brought his sword back into his possession.

It was when he had finished with the prince that he watched his scissors shatter in his mind’s eye, remembering how they faithfully served him until he was ready to face his home country.

For now, he was just happy that his small island home was safe again.

Danger struck again in the form of more bandits and Dachun being a total “buzzkill” about it, but Seven had no issues aiding his friend.

No, the real issue was what came in the following weeks.

It came in the form of an old enemy that he had really hoped to forget, but knowing this demon, he wasn’t sure fond of leaving.

Seven though had assumed that as he stood in the park that evening and felt some strangely familiar qi.

Only when Chairman Jiang was thrown like a sack of potatoes into the park, that Redtooth made his full appearance, leaving claw marks slashed through his favorite cart, but upon seeing what had happened to Dachun’s food, he just slowly pocketed the cash.

“Sorry no refunds.”

But when Redtooth ignored everyone, his red eyes just focused on Chairman Jiang worried him, sure Chairman Jiang and him never saw eye to eye, but Seven didn’t know if it felt right to intervene when it seemed like something personal between the two.

Until Redtooth was done talking, the blood demon came out through his oozing hatred.

Seven and Dachun leapt into action, Dachun throwing his leg into the monster’s mouth, letting Redtooth turn on them.

The fight was going great for a level seven bodyguard and a bumbling barber, and it wasn’t until Seven remembered that Redtooth also can use a strategy that he didn’t think about when he asked what level Dachun happened to be.

And thus, exposing his small weakness to the whole of Seven and the others.

It would take more time, and loads of more bloodshed, before Seven was caught in Green Phoenix’s red force field.

A cover from the eyes of the people of the island. Green Phoenix regarded him slowly, his hands resting carefully on his blades.

“Killer Seven, what a strange surprise to find you still alive, and whole apparently.”

Seven chuckled weakly, his eyes more trained on Redtooth’s corpse, than the conversation, he really wasn’t sure how he was going to explain this one to Chairman Jiang.

“I thought that it would be a good time to take a vacation.”

The Green Phoenix blinked, his head only tilting slightly.

“That vacation is sadly over, now that Redtooth is dead, there will be more assassins to add to this one single death.”

Seven flared with slight rage at the statement, this was his home, and it seemed like this duel between him and Redtooth was pointless considering that only one of them was a bleeding corpse.

“I can take as many assassins as possible that can fit on the island.”

Green Phoenix didn’t crack a smile, instead just flicked his wrist, sending Seven’s sword back into his hands.

“I think that you will find that taking the chief's seat is the best way to free your little island of more problems.”

Seven frowned.

“Alright, but I will get some of your assistance in getting a few things in order to defeat him.”

Green Phoenix nodded.

“It can be done, meet me at the Fox Statue, I’ll have Thirteen meet you somewhere so that she can pass you any supplies.”

Seven snorted, “Safe location, make sure you secure it ahead of time.”

Both of them had bowed in agreement and as the force field slowly faded out, Seven wasn’t ready to be greeted with the faces of his friends and the like just standing on there all shocked that he was still standing.

But what really hurt was Dai Bo and Xiao Fei still slightly bleeding, the shocked faces of Thirteen and the others. Even worse was Chairman Jiang immediately running over to the fallen Redtooth, pulling him into her lap.

These would be the final terrible memories of his friends, and their suffering, until he was ready to face them after defeating the darkness of his past.

And when he left the island in the following days to come, he knew that in his heart it was time to stop running from the past.

This was going to be his new life, as long as he reached for it.
