Work Text:
Jason regretted the words as soon as they left his mouth.
He and Damian had gotten into an argument during patrol three days ago. It had only started out as a petty argument, arguing about a small mistake made on a mission, but it quickly escalated.
They had both said things they didn’t mean, but they had all been stupid little comments. Until Jason said it.
“I don’t trust you farther than I can throw you.”
The bat brat hadn’t so much as looked at him ever since. He would just ignore Jason completely and act like he wasn’t even there. Jason didn’t blame him. The kid had gone through a lot to show the family he could be trusted, and even though he tried to hide it behind his stoic exterior, Jason knew that Damian took what was said to him very seriously.
So maybe he felt a little bad, but only a little.
Whenever he saw the brat he got the gross urge to apologize. Jason Todd never apologizes to anyone, let alone to the demon brat for something as small as a comment.
As the days went by, the feeling only got worse. Jason obviously hadn’t meant what he had said. Sure, Damian was a demon spawn sent straight from hell, but he was a loyal team mate. Jason trusted him, and if it came down to it, he would trust the brat with his life.
So maybe he felt a little bad, but he sure as hell wasn’t going to apologize.
So instead, he called in a favor.
He asked Cyborg to make him a charged mechanical glove, and after explaining the situation, he managed to get Jon to help him out.
He wasn’t going to apologize. Instead, he was going to simultaneously show his brother that he meant what he said, and that he really did trust him.
So, equipped with his charged glove, a kryptonian, and his brooding little brother he took off and only stopped when he made it to a cliff above calm water.
Damian had been stubbornly silent this entire trip. Jason had been forced to carry the brat into the ship because he was completely ignoring Jason and trying to create distance between the two.
Only when Jason placed him down right in front of the edge did Damian decide to speak up.
“What is the meaning of this foolishness, Todd? Why have you brought us here?”
Jon hovers silently next to him, waiting for Jason to say something.
“I told you I didn’t trust you farther than I can throw you, remember?”
Damian scowled, crossing his arms and spat out,“Of course I remember that, Todd.”
“Well, I’m going to show you what I meant.”
Jason grabbed his baby brother by his arm, and lifted him off the ground. He hadn’t even activated the gloves yet, and he could still easily pick up Damian with one arm. Jason made a mental note to force feed him later.
“Put me down you useless idiot! I swear I will hang you by your thumbs if you touch me for a single second longer.”
He ignored his brother's threats and kept a hold on him even as he kicked and turned.
Jason turned to look Jon straight in the eye, a warning in his voice when he practically growled, “You better catch him.”
Jason waited till Jon nodded to start. So Jason pressed the button to charge his gloves, winded his arm back, and threw his brother with all the strength he had.
He watched as his brother yelled in shock as he hurled away, flying out of view with lightning speed. Jon was right on his tail.
Jason had a lot of explaining to do to Alfred on why Damian had a dislocated shoulder and why his tracking device said he had landed somewhere in Hawaii.
